a lot of Canada geese squawking. Does that count?

I am surprised some maker has not come out with that option yet. Cars are loaded with computers and cameras anyway, should be a piece of cake to make it happen.

Exactly what happened with Tesla. The 3 has all the hardware but the software came later. The first update added the ability to record while driving and save events to a USB stick. The latest update records when there’s a security event while parked. Hopefully more manufacturers will do the same.

Does this site have a log in time limit? The reason I ask is that since I leave the Edmunds window open and never log out, this page is always a click away and I don’t have to sign in. But every few weeks I open the window to Howdy Stranger and have to go through the process of logging in and paswords.

    Just wondering why.

I was out having lunch with some friends yesterday when I noticed that a salesman from Lexus whom I worked with years ago was sitting at the counter.  I walked over and got reacquainted.  He still works at the same dealership.

I mentioned to him that next year in November I would be looking at possibly leasing an ES350 fairly loaded.  He said to look him up - that he would be able to lease the car fo me at a cap cost of dealer invoice, no dealer fees and at their buy rate for the money factor.  So, I am preparing for my next car 18+ months ahead of time.  Sounds to me like a good deal.  Let’s hope he’s still working there when I’m ready.

    Makes for a good dinner!

    You can try this simple recipe, Canada Goose with popcorn stuffing;

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush Goose well with melted butter, salt, and pepper.

Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan making sure the neck end is toward the front of the oven, not the back.

After about 4 hours listen for the sounds of popping kernels.

When the turkey's rear blows the oven door open and the bird flies across the room... You know it's Done!!

I think Tesla has a built in cam capability, along with a Corvette, but the functionality lags aftermarket systems. That might be a problem with built-in cams from the factory, they will become relics. I'd be happy with built-in wiring and mounts for your own cam.

Always been a flat tax proponent. You make more? You pay more! That includes corporations.....Pretty simple. You get rid of ½ of the IRS by simplifying. Tax Attorneys and CPAs would have to find another area to ply their trade.

It would cost me more. But, it would cost me less for accounting, financial planning and there'd be much less opportunity for the kinds of shenanigans where politicians and corporation pay NO tax. Then, we could all finance the important things with it (and we all know what those things are), I'd be first in line to vote for the person who is an advocate.

Yes, very simple: 1. How much did you make? 2. Send it in.

Today I did something I don't like to see others do when driving, I will try not to do it again.
I was at a STOP sign on a side road, about to turn right onto a 4 lane (2 lanes each way) 55 mph major road
There was an old smashed up Chevy pick up truck on the major road and he was in the right lane.
I had time to turn right, but in case he was going faster than I thought, I didn't want to be in front of him, so I went into the left lane when I came out of the side street.
I see people doing this a lot especially down here.....on one level it makes sense.
I think the problem is it could cause confusion and could result in an accident. The truck may have assumed I would go into the right lane and so he goes into the left lane at the same time.
I don't like it when they do it to me so I am going to try my best not to do it again, honest!

It reminds me of looking at the pyramids in Egypt. I expected to see a maximum of 500 people milling about. I think there was about 500 buses on the site and 1000s of people. Lots of people ready to rip you off, if they push a map or a photo into your hand and you hold it it is yours and you have to pay for it.

Camel rides were $25 and they take you about 1/2 a mile riding a camel. What they don't tell you is it is another $25 to come back and $10 if you need help getting off.

True, but they are copies of what has been done before. I think they even buy the original plans from other manufacturers. A Genesis is a perfect example......study a Mercedes or BMW and copy it as best as you can, and offer it at a cheaper price.

True, but if your copy is better than the original, how is that not innovative? I mean, at what point can we say that the student has defeated the master?

Not related to the site or forums software. I get logged out now and then, but it's not on all my devices so that sort of eliminates the site. On my laptop/desktop, I assume it's because of occasional Windows updates/restarts. It has happened the least on my Android phone, which coincidentally, has fewer updates (at least on my phone) Seems to happen about as often as OS updates on my iPad as well.

I'll have to pay closer attention to firm up my opinion :)

Reliable cars that run well and last a long time? In the 80s that was pretty innovative. They also built really, nice small cars that were fuel efficient. I consider that pretty innovative.

Nonetheless they are up and comers. Everybody steals from everybody, so that's not news. American car buyers shop value and reliability. If an automaker can provide that, well, welcome to the alleged "free market".

Sorry to hear....raises a few questions.
    Why no smoke detectors?
Were these people trained how to use a stove, heater furnace?
A lot of refugees were sponsored but the sponsors back out and leave them to fend for themselves. I have heard about that happening.

It is still very early times for reporting of specifics on this, but to Driver's questions, they were in a newish rental house, so smoke detectors would have been hard-wired most likely. Not sure of the heat source other than that the area does not have natural gas service, but neighbors reported hearing a loud bang. Their sponsors are very much involved with the aftermath today. From all early reports they were fitting in well in the area.

The downside of being in a newish structure is that they are much more flammable than older homes.

They weren't reliable at first, then they learned how to copy better than the original. But, reliability isn't an innovation, that is just copying better. Not denying they do a good job of copying, but, very little actual innovation....oh yeh, forgot the floating roofline.

I'm sorry, but that is a nonsensical statement. How exactly would you "copy better than the original"???

You could "copy", and then "improve on the copy" but it would no longer be a copy.

I think the modern pioneer of the played out faux floating C-pillar is the Opel Adam, entering production 6 years ago:

No need to innovate when the product is reliable, and maybe puts on an aggressive face to fool the masses. Most people have little desire for bleeding edge tech or good design.

When I was living in Edmonton in the early '70s I built a fence with panels of an early (possibly the first) version of OSB called aspenite. It was much cheaper than plywood but now seems to have taken over much of the market. Who knew that plywood would become a premium product.

I’m curious. What would be late 60’s “original” of a car like the Honda Accord or Toyota Corolla? I know when my mom bought a Corona in 1969, it was because she couldn’t find a compact American vehicle.

Drove a 2018 Porsche 911 yesterday that was a turn back. White over ivory. Super fast and fun! My lead driver knows I like fun stuff so he tossed me the keys and said, have fun! Definitely did!!!

People in FL get what they pay for, maybe like that part of the country in general. Low taxes, low amenities, other issues. I like in an area invaded by transplants, and I know nobody who moved to FL and didn't come running back.

nice house. and cheap per Zillow. I can see why people move to FLorida if can get that house for that price, and negligible property taxes (and cheap state taxes). I just know that my wife would never live there year round.

Strange, I know nobody who moved to Florida that didn't stay.
I do! The BUGS and the humidity got to them and they bailed out of Florida!
Wait until the serious flooding starts to get worse. St Petersburg, Tampa, Miami, Miami Beach and Panama City are predicted to be seriously compromised. Zillow advises buyers that 1 in 8 homes in Florida will be underwater by 2100 and NOAA says that Miami streets will flood every year after 2070. Nothing for US to worry about unless you are a baby checking into the Forums. B)

I'll give this to Japan years back; they forced GM and Ford to up their quality and get more efficient. Good news, because today I think things have leveled quite a bit between the different manufacturer's. Just imagine what the vehicle situation in the US would be today if the GM Ford duopoly still reigned - remember the quality level and price increases back in the 70's before the Asians set up transplants?

True, but they are copies of what has been done before. I think they even buy steal the original plans from other manufacturers. A Genesis is a perfect example......study a Mercedes or BMW and copy it as best as you can, and offer it at a cheaper price.
Fixed your post. They are artful mimics but do very little innovating of their own.
lol....nicely fixed. What have Asian car makers introduced besides the coin holder which was over 30 years ago, and electrical wire coating made out of soy.....which mice love to eat?
Wood and leather steering wheels and higher grade leather seating.

There are sections of Miami Beach that flood with ocean water during King Moons several times a year.  Miami does not flood yet nor does Ft. Lauderdale.
