My main concern is this - since our Member Agreement states that we don't allow solicitation of competing car forums, etc. Links to an external FAQ page will get questioned to death by other members (other brand owners) that we don't let promote their own club sites (that do have forums, chats, etc.) Plus, you couldn't use any postings from the boards as it would be a copyright violation.
I think an FAQ page is great - I think one that you would maintain is even better. We actually have a tool that we are getting this summer where we could allow 1-2 of you to be the owners/authors of the page (which would allow you to do the updates in real-time whenever you like). Until then, we could simply publish what you want on a weekly basis.
Let me know what you think might work. I want the Crew to have what they want, but also want to make sure that we don't run into any issues with the Legal Dept. (copyright, sending people to competing sites, etc.)
Just let us know how we can help.
I guess one thing we could do it start small, and then add things as the questions come in. Whoever provides the answer can send them to mike, plus the pix, and can assemble and post them up on the site.
For instance, check-engine lights are common, we could document the procedure to do an ECU reset. Beyond that, there is an auto parts stores (Advance?) that scans codes for free. That type of info would be helpful.
What else? Torque specs. Interchangeability for stereos, wheels, no-sway bars, etc.

We could document changes year-by-year, for instance. They go as far as scanning every brochure from every year! There are probably copyright issues there, but it would be nice to have a sort of time line:
1995: first Outback 2.2l, all AWD lineup
1996: 2.5l H4 arrives
1999: Phase II engine on Imp/For
2000: 2nd gen Outback
Etc. That would be a large database of info. How many times does someone ask what year was the AWP made standard?

He sold this book as a novel but as an Irishman born and bred I can assure you that this is at least a 90% accurate history of the north of Ireland.
Loosh to a large extent I agree with what you said in Post 14004 what is going on now is pure thuggery mostly perpetrated by the prodestants among themselves for control of the drug trade and crime in their own areas.
The IRA have a similar thing going to a lesser extent in the catholic areas.
But the underlying problem is and always will be a divided Ireland, incidently I do'nt believe the problem will ever be solved by the gun or the bomb and neither am I an IRA sympathiser.
I left Ireland to get away from all that crap and to bring my family to an non secterian atmosphere.
But the six counties were set up in such away as to keep catholics as second class citizens, because they were in the minority, but now it is almost a 50-50 split.
The reason that the northern Irish assembley will never work is that the prodestants will never willingly share power with catholics, asking the IRA to diarm is just a ruse to keep the assembly impotent.
BTW it has nothing really to do with handing over guns, if the IRA disarmed in the morning they would have other demands, you do not hear the prodestant politicians demanding that the prodestant paramilitaties disarm.
BTW in a fair world David Trimble would be asked to return the Nobel peace prize as he has no real interest in peace if it means working with catholics.
I would love some day to have a face to face discussion on this subject.
Cheers Pat.
Double celebration (make that triple): school auction was a smashing success (both financially & party-wise), St. Paddy's Day (the name today is O'Hammersley, BTW), and it's my son's un-birthday (school party for kids whose b-days fall in the summertime).. and we picked today because his name is.. Patrick! ta-dah!
Cheers!

Loosh: In my years in DC I always found it annoying to go to the big three Irish pubs - The Irish Times, the Dubliner, and Ireland's Four Provinces - and hear the interns, law students et al. shout for the Unicorn song and the same old same old. Having seen one of your live performances I'm sure you came up with a better set.
OTOH I did enjoy the one Bloomsday reading I attended at the Times.

Must be an American thing. I haven't heard it here or in Britain since the 1960's. A nice little ditty when a youngster but must grow fairly wearing with repitition.
Now, if I could only remember the rougher version of Galway Bay, I'd be travelling. The only bit I can remember at the moment is
"On her back she had tattooed a map of Ireland...
...And as she scrubbed herself each Saturday, I'd watch the suds, the suds, flow down by Galway Bay"
Not the most educational but points up where I've spent some of my life. Actually taught to me by winner of a Dublin singing prize, many years ago
A quick Google search fills out the holes. Its a little number Loosh should cultivate for next St Pat's day
GALWAY BAY
Maybe some day I'll go back again to Ireland,
If my dear old wife would only pass away
For she nearly has my heart broke with her nagging,
She's got a mouth as big as Galway Bay.
See her drinking sixteen pints of Pabst Blue Ribbon,
And then she can walk home without a sway.
If the sea was beer instead of salty water,
She'd live and die in dear old Galway Bay
See her drinking fifteen pints at Pat Joe Murphys
And when the barman says "it's time to go"
She dosen't try to speak to him in Gaelic,
but in language that the clergy do not know.
On her back she has tattooed a map of Ireland,
And when she takes her bath on Saturday.
She rubs the Irish Spring around by Claddagh,
just to watch the suds flow down by Galway Bay.
There, I knew this was an educational forum
Cheers

Then the thing that really makes me want to puke is when they request all this Irish American junk music perpetrated for years by groups like the Rovers.
Cheers Pat.
Mike-
WHEW! One crazy tobacco farmer goes nuts and it paralyzes the whole city! Imagine what a terrorist could do. Took me THREE hours to get to work today. Couldn't he at least pick a better cause, like budget cuts to Children's Hospitals?
<rant done>
Ed: the Irish Times was a hot spot with my crowd. Where else to get Guiness on tap and talk politics with the folks in Capitol Hill? The Four Ps was even more fun. Plus we'd do Flanagan's in Bethesda all the time for easy access to live music.

What's this with a tobacco farmer?
Ken
He's protested tobacco farm subsidies, how lame.
We are SO not prepared for a terrorist attack.

OK, a while back I promised a pic of the plywood I hauled home. You can actually see the wood grain on one side and the white primer on the other (supposedly OSB) layer:

Who needs a pickup? The two sections of 6'x8' fence were actually a far bigger challenge, FWIW.

I recall seeing an article in the NY Times a few years back about R&D into alternative uses for tobacco. I wish I could find it; the only thing that sticks in my mind was that some compounds found in tobacco could be used in the treatment of alcoholism.

Crow Bar closed - they demolished the whole building. We were bummed! It was very close to work, walking distance.
Bardo's was were JFK Jr got in a fist fight. Funny how that's how it obtained notoriety. For those that never saw it, it used to be a dealer service bay and they left one car inside the bar. The place had about a hundred beers on draught, gotta love it!
I saw Sapphire the Uppity Blues Women at Birchmere not once but twice. A buddy of mine is a huge fan.
I'm trying to convince that buddy to get a Forester. He had a van now but just one kid who grew up and no longer needs booster seats or that much cargo space.

I am not supposed to do this and when my doctor gives me s##t for doing it I don't hear him offer to do it for me.
It is starting to melt down now so it is wet and heavy, will be glad to see the back of this crap.

Snow from the President's Day Weekend storm (17 Feb) has finally *almost* melted from our lawn.
The huge snow mountains in parking lots will probably still be around for several more days.

Ross I would if I could but my wife wants to stay put and it would be no fun without her so there it is.

I'll be gone until 3/31 and Sylvia will be checking in here and throughout the Owners Clubs. She's promised to be kind. :-)
If the weather is nice this weekend it'll be time to wash all that salt off the cars. Who knows, maybe I'll even try to install that plood. With 5 cupholders, would that be a Subaru record? :-)

Another thing, apparently SoA is *very* interested in the suggestions topics and is hungry for even more. They are following each and every suggestion.
So hopefully paisan will get his H12 diesel touring coupe! ;-)

Now if I live to be a hundred I will never understand the mentality that allows what probably started as a small paint chip progress to the point were it will cost several hundred dollars minimum to repair.
As well as this you lose the integrity of the origional paint, when a dab of touch up would have prevented it in the first place.
This to me is just plain laziness and carelessness at its worst.
Cheers Pat.

You were taught to take care of what you had because you did not know where the next one was coming from.
When I see people abuse their stuff I think of the countless number of poor people who would give their right arms to have the stuff that is abused it just makes me angry.
Cheers Pat.
