which will keep prices lower then too (good for those of us in the market for an XT!).

Let the attention go to the 'new' Legacy anyway - that model needs the attention! (although they'll likely need to do something to clear the remaining '03/'04 inventory that I forsee getting left behind at dealers as people wait for the '05)

Maybe Automobile will surprise us with a mini-review. I doubt it though since C&D didn't.

I'm getting quite comfortable with the thought of getting an XT now (well, later this year or so) and waiting a few years before I 'upgrade' to the Legacy. We'll be able to write off the XT (leased) for my dw's business, so why not?!? ;-)

The car is not mine, it's ours. ;-)
How about if we share?? ..... did I do a good job of squir....uhm...getting out of it? The kids take over anyway - soccer balls, fold out chairs, lacrosse sticks, books, cds, etc. It would be nice to have 2 Subarus in the family, though.

As promised here are some pictures my daughters truck, there is no doubt in my mind that they had angels on their shoulders on that day.

You look at this and wonder how some of them were not killed or crippled.

      Cheers Pat.

I think you have to give some of the credit to the seat belts and air bags. But someone sure was watching out for them that day. Glad they're ok.

Any ideas what will replace their truck? A Baja? ;-)

Looking at those pics reminds me of an accident I had when I was 19. The front of the car was smashed, the rear of the car was smashed, and the passenger's side of the car was smashed. The car only had lapbelts and I wasn't wearing it and still managed to walk away with a carpet burn and a bruised shoulder.
I have ALWAYS thought there were angels since that day!
Glad they were all "protected" !

I hope your daughter and her friends are taking some contemplative time to "smell the roses". They are very lucky to come away from that without serious injury.

    Pat,

Those photos brought chills down my spine. It really is a miracle they walked away from that tragedy.

    Seatbelts, everyone -- please.

I'm not sure that airbags have much to do with the results in an accident like that, but yes... it is a wonder that no one was seriously injured. seatbelts definitely do make a difference.

    glad she's alright, Pat.

I was seriously thinking about leaving the fold. But after seeing the new Legacy's and how they have been updated, there is no way I can leave. I am impressed on their new designs adding such things as the rear fog light and illuminated mirrors and the much needed improvement in the interior, seats etc. I REALLY HOPE what I have seen makes it to our shores!
  • c_hunterc_hunter Member Posts: 4,487
Got my issue yesterday too. I'm really surprised they have pics of the new Legacy in there -- must have been spy shots when they went to press, since the official pictures only came out on 5/23. Glad the car is getting some press.

I seem to remember a blurb about the Forester XT one or two issues back, in their auto show reports. I would expect a road test or "short take" this summer.

Got my July Automobile today. I usually get these about one week from now on a normal month. Mailman must not be reading 'em this time around ;-)

Again, nothing on the XT. On page 22 there is a blurb about the Baja Turbo "on the heels of the new turbocharged Forester 2.5XT and the WRX STi, Subaru has gone turbo-mad. We (Automobile Mag) aren't complaining."

I doubt we'll see them here. Subaru has had them for years in other markets where they're required by law.

    Pat-
Certainly angels were watching over your Daughter and her friends.

    Karen-
They will do contemplative time to "smell the roses" like I have and am still doing...

the pics brought back some memories.

I am now a proud owner of my first Subaru! Thanks for the advice. I had used most of the suggestions but hearing it from others gave me more confidence to keep going. As I was reading your postings yesterday I received an email back from the Colorado Springs dealer and he agreed to my offer for the car in his showroom. No more tire chains in the winter to get home (I hope).
    Thanks again,
    Greg

Actually, when Brooke was born 3 days late, it was on my golf league day. I came home from work to get ready to golf and found my dw (in much agony) saying "go golf, I'll be fine". Needless to say, we got in the car and proceeded to the hospital.

Today just happens to be that golf league day (again).

Wow.... That truck did a remarkable job (along with some divine help) of protecting the occupants. Hope your daughter is feeling better.

Brian - my 'guess' is the outlier (sp?) in this distribution, but it is getting closer every day!

We went on a trip this weekend to Sanibel to chill out...the three of us and Dina.....going there, we did 26mpg at a cruise control speed of 76mph in the automatic wagon. I also hit 15,000 miles on this trip.
If you're ever down here or on the west coast, go to Sanibel and Captiva Islands(near Ft. Myers). Beautiful white sand beaches, and dogs are allowed. Dina dug for around 10 minutes as soon as she got on the beach, then proceeded to sttick her snout into the sand, lay on her side, and continued digging in that position...what a sight she was afterwards..one side of he black, the other side white...we decided to rename her Sandy (ARF! ARF!).
We may go to Disney next weekend. Florida residents can be Play Four passes for $109. This gives you any 4 days at any of the parks, and you can go from one park to another as many times as you want. It's like a park hopper pass and they are good thru September. Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) are going to be there for the kickoff of Star Wars weekends.

Stopped by the local Subie dealer the other day and saw 2 STi's, one white, one blue...both sold with 5K ADMs...amazing.
I got my free cargo net, but looking at the directions, I am bamboozled...they show hooks on both sides of the cargo compartment, but I have a hook on one side, and the cargo light on the other...anyone here installed the net in their wagon?

    Owner of a sandy wagon.

P.S. Speaking of OCD, I found a jpg of the OCD Club certificate; not a great one. Do any of you OCD guys have the original jpeg I sent out with the certificates? If so, could you send me a copy?

scary sight. Someone was surely looking out for them. Give em a hug for us.

Greg - Congratulations. Only 100 more Gregs in the fold and we can make a stand against the Daves. When do you pick it up? Or did you?

Pat: wow, I thought that was the new Chevy speedster. It's a truck?!

Papa Bear: I say induce on June 4 (if the docs say that's full term)! That's my first born's b-day. :-)

Hmm, no XT in the issue, that must be *why* the mail man ain't readin' it!

Greg: congrats on the new Subie!

I was walking back to my Forester this morning after getting some coffee and I notice the driver of a Yukon parked next to me checking out my vehicle.

    "Is that a Forester?"
     "Yep"
    "Do you like it?"
     "Love it."
    "How's it handle?"
     "Suprisingly well."
    "It's got all-wheel drive?"
"All the time unlike some other makes"
    "Wow, all the time, huh?"

The guy was looking to replace his daughter's Yukon (yes, another one) with the Forester because he read the great reviews from Consumer Reports. He was concerned for her safety and also wanted something more fuel efficient.

After a few minutes of talking, the guy was asking me where the nearest dealer was. I had to chuckle after the conversation since it had been a while since someone pulled up and asked those type of questions. I got them a lot when I just bought my Forester back in 98.

So, where do I get my commission? I'll take credit towards a new Subie. ;-)

There should be a hook near the cargo light.
    Maybe this will help:

One of my co-workers traded in her 2000 Outback on a Jeep Liberty (The Outback had bad A/C, hesitated on acceleration and was "too big"). I overheard her telling another employee about how bad it was and not to get a Subie but a Jeep. So I caught up to the other person and used words such as "rollover" and "Chrysler". I plugged the Forester she was interested in on the basis of the '98 I'd had. The result was that she found a nice red '98 Forester S with only 77 k miles and seems to be quite happy with it.

Wow, Pat... angels, seat belts & air bags are a good combination, and your daughter is living proof!

That damage reminds me of a car-train wreck many years ago. Car slid on ice into the side of a moving freight... lopped off the front of the car, swung it around 180 degrees, lopped off the trunk, then spit the rest down the tracks about 50 yards. The whole carload of kids climbed out of the intact passenger compartment & walked away. Most serious injury was eyeglasses munched on one kid's nose.

Must have been the same angel's union on that one, too!

    Cheers!

Thanks for the link. That looks like the instructions that came with the net; however, I have a hook on one side that you can unscrew, and the cargo bay light without a screw. I'll try to pull out the light to see where I might be able to attach the d-ring thingie.
Brian, my e-mail is in my profile...thanks

Pat, I am stunned by those photos...G-d was definitely with your daughter and her friends.

Saw my sister's Forester yesterady, a 2003 X automatic in Platinum Silver Metallic. Nice!

They did delete some useful things from mine: handles on the roof rails, which are good as tie downs, mud flaps, and the cargo liner, the latter two now being optional.

But lots of small improvements throughout. The hood is much lighter (aluminum), and there's a grab handle to close the hatch instead of an indentation. Most of the interior is nicer, though I think I prefer my fabrics. Like the temp gauge and the 2nd odo is good, one for fuel and the other for the trip. 16"s standard, spare still full size.

She was glowing. Couldn't talk her into swapping pink slips, though. ;-)

That's the 4th Subaru in the family, 6 if you count previous cars.

sorry Brian, your out. Tell your wife to jump up and down an few times. ;-)

Funny story: During our first child's pregnacy we heard a myth about taking castor oil to help bring on labor. One night my wife was actually contemplating taking some even though we don't believe in these myths. (hey, after 9 months I don't blame her) She decided not to and shortly thereafter she went into labor. If she had taken the oil the myth would have been propagated.
