Hopefully that'll motivate the rest of us to work on our own health.
Thanks guys - already got 4 more letters since yesterday. Keep 'em coming, the deadline is today!

Sorry for your loss. I hope that you and your family are coping well.
Mark
Greg: Condolences on your mom's passing. Been there myself.

Cheers Pat.
Cheers Pat.

P.S. Juice - sorry I wasn't able to get the Patti letter out in time.
They went out in a Priority Mail package and should arrive Saturday or Monday at the latest. We sent copies to a VP and a Senior VP, so I trust it'll attract the attention we want.
The package included letters from:
AJ Teixeira
Bob Holland
Jim Pearson
Ed Johnson
Craig Hunter
Robert Woolston
Dennis McClellan
Brian Bear
Don Braverman
Ken Suzuki
Kate Gordeeva
Pat McCartney
Martin Korn
Mark Rothberger
Frank Patton
Brenda Beck
Ronald Skleney
Steve Herschbein
Mike Torricelli

Rather unbelievably, no Daves are on that list!? LOL
I included a note from me to call me, so I'll either here from them, or we'll here from Patti. Hopefully the latter!

Who did the letters go out to? Perhaps we should invite that individual to participate in the Subaru Crew to meet some of us on-line. That would also give a chance for some who couldn't get the letters out in time to chime in as well.
I can't wait to see what the response is!
Ken
Bob met one of them, Keith, and has had some dialogue with him via e-mail. He's "just" a VP, so we went even higher up.
We found an Executive VP, Fred, who is more directly managing Patti's group, and sent the 2nd copy to him.
I don't think 20 letters can just be ignored, so I'm sure we'll hear at least something. Either a "welcome back, heeeeere's Patti" or a full explanantion as to why she cannot participate.
So for now we await some kind of response.

On the way into the office this AM, I was passing a Silver Forester, and after I had gone around it, I noticed a hood scoop on the front. “Huh,” I says to myself “ I thought that the hood scoop was only on the turbos for cooling the intercoolers.” So I slow down and let him pass me… New Jersey plates, and clear as day, the badge said Forester XT. Too cool…
Cheers
I called and he said he could not keep up with the guy! :-) This in his Volvo 2.3LPT!

We should be seeing them at the dealers any time now. Someone at nasioc had pictures on an XT on a dealer's lot in Florida (of all places!).

Still, it was fun and reminded me of the long overdue membership drive for the OCD club. So here goes.
Have you washed your car on consecutive days? Do you have a car duster? Two, one for inside, one for outside?
Do you measure fender height (note: brilliant idea I cannot claim credit for) to see if your suspension is even?
Do you check the oil more often than you check the fuel gauge? Can you tell if your tires are off by 1 psi?
Is your engine clean enough to eat off of, though you'd never consider getting those polished heads dirty?
Well, then, WE WANT YOU...for the OCD club.
Benefits include endless ideas to obsess over, idea shared with and by other members. You can plea insanity to ignored significant others, and they'll agree! You may lose sleep, but hey! More time to wax the inner side of your alloys rims!
Call now, we're handing out free tape measure to the first ten callers that promise to measure tire diameters at least weekly!

Reminds me of the old Firesign Theatre line:
"How can you be two places at once, when you're really nowhere at all?"
Besides which, I'm also at work (hi Mike!). I can get through the firewall, but got busy getting dinner going instead. Sigh.
Cheers!

hammersly: Actually, Bob and I were feeling more like this quote from Firesign, "We're all bozos on this bus."
As Bob mentioned earlier, it looked like the settings were somehow miscombobulated (no...Bob had nothing to do with it) and the room didn't recognize when people were coming and going. So when someone entered chat, it created a whole new room. Definitely weird. Our tech will be taking a look at it asap.

FWIW, the 2004s are around the corner, so you should be able to get invoice price minus whatever regional incentives apply in Colorado. Thing is, demand is higher there due to the climate, so you might not do quite that well.
Another option, if you can wait, is the VIP program. Join the IMBA or ACA, and 6 months later you qualify for the VIP program, which gets you invoice prices minus incentives with absolutely zero haggling.
Good luck. I love my '98 Forester.

If the Internet managers and Costco program don't work out, you may need to do it the old fashion way. Pick the exact vehicle you want including options, price it out using Edmunds' resources and decide what you're willing to pay (don't forget to figure in rebates/incentives/hold back), and walk into a dealer with a set price in mind. Negotiate away. I guarantee that the dealers will pay more attention to you if you're physically on their lot, and given how soft auto sales have been, will work with you on the price.

Don't give up on the rest of the dealers that didn't respond. I believe someone here got the best offer from a dealer that was late to the game.
Try faxing your request for prices to the rest of the dealers. Dealers get tons of e-mail, you'll get more attention using a fax letter.
Are you contacting the dealer in Pueblo and the ones as far north as Boulder-Loveland-Ft. Collins?

Have a good weekend all, Sandy will be off on another road trip to Bethany Beach!

Page 25: New Legacy pics and blurbs..."to go on sale in the U.S. by late spring 2004...and yes, it too gets a turbocharger...2.5-liter flat-four...280-plus hp...the 3.0-liter flat-six...upgraded 35hp to 247...new Legacy will offer five-speed automatic and manual transmissions...expect prices to start at $20k and turn up to, perhaps, $35k."

nygreg .. what if you got a new one for HER ... wouldn't you get YOURS back????
I guess the media doesn't think it's much of a change. On the bright side, that'll mean that the Forester XT will be an even more stealth vehicle.
