You should have seen the wheel wells. They are packed solid. I could barely turn the wheels.

I like the silicon idea. The sun is out and it seems to be starting to melt. Wax the rims? I barely have spare time to eat!

Yeah, and I think Juice would have a lot of potential renters right here....

Let's say "If" I get a beach property, who knows at this point. It's just another Fence Post. ;-)

rob: sorry, OCD Club Members don't have time for such frivolous activities such as eating. LOL

I've always wanted to have a Subaru Crew meet near water, ideally take the Cape May-Lewis Ferry with a boat full of Subarus. How cool would that be?

If you want a congregation of Subarus near water, just go to any whitewater or flatwater kayak put-in. There's a good reason Subaru and ACA have a partnership, and it's not just to get VIP pricing. ;-)

but by March, I'm ready for spring. Snow flurries pretty much all morning today, not sticking anywhere though.

for exactly this reason. You can set your watch by the expectation of a foot of snow in NY somewhere around April 1.

Remember I posted that Hertz gave me an OBW on my trip last week? Well, on Tuesday morning I sent one of my junior engineers up to our sister plant in Burlington, VT while some of our equipment is down for upgrades. He called me from somewhere north of Albany (driving thru falling snow) to tell me that he got an OBW from Hertz, and could now see why I loved mine so. I asked him if by chance it was a white '04 with about 315 miles on the clock. Yes, it had 315 on it when he got in - how did I know that? Because he was driving my rental from the week before!!!

A Crew beachfront rental property is a great idea!!
juice, I vote for the OBX as well. Just make sure you rent it out the Crew members for a nice discount, then gouge the other tourists to make up the difference. :-) Maybe in Duck or Corrola? Thanks, looking forward to it!!

Pat - Please take your cold air back!! We're getting another 6" of snow tonight and we just had 6" Monday night!

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
OBX is a bit far for us, as much as I liked it. 7 hours or so would be worth it only for a full week trip.

We wanted an escape for the off-season, so 2.5 hours sounds a lot better. We'll probably have to rent it out in the summer to be able to afford it.

DelMarVa is even closer for me. ;-) (although I'm really already tied up in a rental program)

You can drive on the beach in N. Bethany, that would be fun. Have a little Forester gathering.

Will you be within, oh say, a half-hour's drive of Painter, VA? It's home to one of my favorite restaurants on the planet, Formy's Barbecue.

We'll probably end up in Ocean City, because it's easy to rent out. Very congested, though. But that's fine for the off-season, September is nice.

Never take the snow tires off until about Easter in Minnesota. After all the snow has melted we sometimes have a "suprise" Canadian cold front and 6" of wet slushy snow. Then it moves east to New York, gathers in additional moisture and dumps a foot+. We've been getting 1-2" of snow about every other day the past week. Can't keep the Subie clean!

This year is different. Next Tuesday off come the snow tires and ski pod, on with the summer tires and bike racks. We're headed south to follow spring north with the motor home. Ah, blessed retirement.

MNSteve - another 1" this morning, melted by noon

Funny - Lana and I were chatting about our "shore" place in Philly. I told her how much I love getting away. Ours isn't beach front. First - we couldn't afford it, but also - the traffic during the season is killer. We're about 8 miles outside of Ocean City. We own the lot in the "camp ground", and have our trailer there. Still no phone though. My husband forbids it...but I do have my cell.

I love the quiet of the woods (not too rustic though - we have a pool and tennis courts), but also its just a short hop to the beach or to go fishing. Total relaxation.

So - now you all have me thinking about it (we open up on 4/1) and we're expecting 6 inches of snow tonight?? What's up with that?? But - I will go out driving tonight when it gets heavy. Even if I have to get up at 1AM to enjoy it. The last foray into winter?

Catch you all at the chat tonight?

I was able to see everyone else but could not post. Logged out and the found myself in a chat room by myself. "echoing sound of Graham talking to himself"

    Not a great day!

    Cheers

    It's working now.

I think my mention of the possible post-ponement of my next Subie purchase made the Gerbils go berzerk!

    Try now.

March Madness has spread to the chat!
Sorry I missed it, but looks like I didn't miss much. Had to eat & get kid's school registration papers finished before the GU/Valpo game.

Spent all of yesterday driving a 15-passenger Dodge van on a church volunteer project. Good day for 50+mph winds! NOT!

    Cheers, and
    GO ZAGS! GO EAGLES!

DNS = domain name service. the internet and all other modern networks use tcp/ip, but IP addresses like 10.1.1.1 are too cumbersome to remember and use, so DNS maps hostnames to IPs.

if it gets corrupted-- by accident or more often, malicious tampering-- the common name gets you nowhere but if you knew the underlying IP address you could still get there.

DNS replicates from a variety of sources down. corruption at the top affects a lot of people and takes a while to be completely resolved too.
