Here's a pic at the crash site

But yes, it could have been worse. It was just the bumper and some other minor items and not a complete side impact. Glad no one was injured, too. You now also have a reason to change to rims!
When I bonked my Forester into a snow bank several years ago, the bumper clips also broke causing it to hang off like yours; foglight also intact. In my case, the wheel arch pinched and caused paint to flake off. The cost of repairing the bumper, straightening out the wheel arch and repainting along with some minor items came out to $1600.
Hey, I saw the sonogram picture too. Brings back memories. That's the important stuff to focus on. So why "urchin"?

Here's another positive spin -- good thing you didn't make your mind up on the rims yet. Imagine had that been the Superlegras that got scratched!
Indecision has it's positives too. ;-)
Ken
Fender- upon close inspection, it appears that the very corner of the fender was ever so slightly pulled by the bumper skin trauma. No paint damage, not even a hairline crack. Obviously, I am hoping that little corner (maybe .5" square) can be straightened. Inside, all the foam bits seem snug and undamaged. *shrug* I'll call the shop on Monday.
Ken- no kidding. First I gotta worry about fixing this though! Oh well. Perspective-wise I got very very easy.
So Loosh, be honest now, is that your way of getting the Symns front bumper that was featured about a month ago over in Nabisco:-)
Seriously though, glad it was only your pride that was hurt.
Cheers Pat.
Pride wise, it was just a freak thing. I looked before making the U, not even Kirsten saw it coming and she was on that side of the car to boot. I wonder if she had her lights on, come to think of it. I don't remember. I had the opportunity to review my approach- you see, I forgot to mention that the street has a divided median with parked cars on both sides that one must bi-sect (THAT'S a crucial part of the story...d'oh). Seeing oncoming traffic is virtually impossible as the road curves right there on top of everything else. At the end of the day I should have looked one more time, so ya pride's a little hurt. AS the say, "A meteor hitting your car is an accident. Everything else is driver error." Along with a healthy dose of contributory negligence, I feel. :-)

And those pictures of the WRX wreck - amazing that anybody could survive that!
Mid 60's here as well - began some yard cleanup. Have we seen the last of the snow???
And of course, congrats to the home buyers and sellers!

It rained yesterday and I think it is going to rain again today. My GT is in desperate need of a wash. I have been stuck working 16 hour days since Thursday doing the system upgrade from hell.
Mileage report: 99,860 as of this AM. Should be 100k by tomorrow night.
Jim: it's a little condo (860 sq. ft.), but I'll promise to host a cook out!
-juice
Juice - have I ever told you how good I am at cooking a turkey on the grill? Congrats on getting the condo. I live for my "shore" days. We open our place up next weekend and I'm so psyched! When's settlement?
Patti
Juice - Congrads on the condo offering. I just knew it would work out. We found out that the other offer on the house we bought was 5k higher than our offer, but we're assuming the offer requested buyers assist or some such. We're thinking that the letter we wrote to the homeowner might have helped. Now as to the turkey...yumm, count me in to help consume. <g>
To everyone - Thanks for much for all of the good wishes. We have a pool with a large deck in the backyard, so I actually could have the crew over. I'll supply drinks and something grillable, everyone else bring something to pass and your swimsuits. With over 2300 sq.ft. of living space, we could even put the crew up for the night. The new neighbors will think we're having a Subaru convention or something. That could be fun. Now that I'll have a place to wash and wax my OBS, I'll have no excuse for a dirty car. Time to be a full-time member of the OCD club. Thanks again, folks!

Settlement is May 27, just in time for summer. :-)
Dan: I'll bring turbot for us to grill.

PS they accepted our offer on my wife's birthday, funny eh?
Loosh, sorry to hear about dent. Just remember, people are waaay more important than things. (I've finally learned that...wait until your kid dents your car with a bicycle.)
In the past five days, I've put over 1,200 miles on my (now) bug splattered Subie. Weather permitting, a wash next weekend.

Glad I went from black to silver. :-)
Oh, and congrats juice!! Start planning a Crew-b-cue! :-)

Loosh: Bummer on the fender bender. Realize it could have been much worse and be glad. Rejoice in that ultrasound - amazing the level of detail it can generate, isn't it? I could swear I saw tooth buds in Paul's jaw, as well as the iris and pupil in his eye, when I saw the last one he had. The next one you see could very well tell you the "urchin"'s gender!
Dennis: Hope to see your tint job in the near future. At the very least, post pics!
Frank: We'll get that pollen in about 3-4 weeks. Pine pollen allergies are tough on me, but not as tough as oak pollen.
Ed
Estimate does not include the scuffed rim. That would be a $140 refurb, and I think I can buy a new one for less. Or apply the cost to a set for the summer and use the scruffy set for salty ol' man winter.
Loosh -- sorry about the accident. Glad to hear nobody was hurt.
Juice, congratulations! We're coming...

Cheers Pat.
It's a decent road trip for a 3 day weekend. I imagine we'll use it often.
We have two friends that already own places and visit them often, in fact we've been going about 4 times per year even before we owned a place.
We're debating whether to rent or not, may only rent to friends (that would include the Crew naturally) for cheap. This first summer we may keep it to ourselves to set it up and enjoy the beach.
The Forester will get a lot of use, lots of extra miles. 60k now but probably will pick up the pace since it's our designated beach ride.

Loosh- sorry to hear about your "incident", but glad to hear all 3 of you are okay!

I don't want to jinx it, getting the financial papers out today, and calling to schedule an inspection. Hope the place is as good as it looks on the surface.

Tell me about pollen. Here in the Bay Area, the two weeks of 80 degree weather we had recently set off every single species of trees and flowers. I read in the paper that the pollen count this year is out the roof. I don't recall what the units were, but the count was around 5000. Normally, it's around 500 or so.
My black Forester has a funky light green haze to it.

For you OCDers that were wondering, the system does work as advertised.

Cheers!

The count of 5,156 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air is the second-highest count on record, according to officials at the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic, which has tracked the city's pollen since 1987. And the normal peak of the spring pollen season is still a few days away.
FYI, anything over 50 is considered to be "extremely high". So even though I don't have any allergies to speak of I'm still thankful for my cabin air filter at times like this :-)
-Frank P.
what was really annoying was after a few nights of continual drainage, I developed a bit of a chest cold. bleh!
my sympathies, fellow Subie lovers and allergy sufferers.
