That's my fave color, and basically exactly the car my wife would want (GT LTD sedan auto). Congrats, we're jealous!

    Hey guys,

First thanks for the best wishes. I'm not supposed to be laughing and you guys aren't helping here... hehehehe!!! The surgery went well and the doctor said I should have a quick recovery :fingers crossed:

Well, yesterday was pretty bad after the anesthia (sp?) was gone. So, I've been drugged, which has helped somewhat.

Today (day 2?), has been a minor improvement as my throat is still soar but not as bad as yesterday. I can have jello, custard, ice cream (believe it or not); I'm starting the ice cream today... some say it's not good because it can cause phlegm but that's patient's discretion. I have 6 pints of Haagan Daz waiting for me, :D

Luckily I don't have to talk while I post so, I'll try to be around unless the drugs get the best of me.

    Thanks again :)

    Awlright! Another 05 GT owner!

Welcome to this side of the fence, Rob! Congrats!

Just around 2000 miles, you'll notice the engine and tranny performance improve even more.

Could you post your comments between the previous-previous gen GT and the current one?

    Ken
  • tsytsy Member Posts: 1,551
Wow Rob, you lasted much longer than I thought!! ;) Falling off the fence isn't so bad, is it!

BTW, good luck trying to keep your revs down for 1000 miles!

Find a good window tint place (I remember a place out in Burlington that I had my car done at years ago- he used to do some of the Celtics cars) and don't forget to change the tires before next winter!

I wish I could make it to the chat to chat about your new ride!

Glad the surgery and anesthesia went well. Popsicles might be better than ice cream- or maybe Sorbet. Although Haagen Daz sure sounds good right now. . .

Hope your breathing gets better without tonsils- you might get more oxygen to your brain now! ;)

Wow, I had to staple gun my shorts to The Fence to hang on...but the staples are getting rusty! :)

    Congrats on the GT.

juice -- You could always leave your shorts stapled to the fence too you know. The heated seats will just work that much better. ;-)

In your situation, Haagan Daz is probably better as most Ben & Jerry's flavors have lots of SOLIDS (like Heath bars). Yum! :)

    Enjoy your recovery!

    Trying to catch up:

juice - sorry to leave you all alone on the fence. FWIW, my dw talked me out silver/black for the atlantic blue.
Pat - Best wishes for your daughter's recovery
Elm - Hope you feel better
    LWC - Brendaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Colin - power corrupts : don't you know it, brother.
Ken - Comparison between the 99 GT and the 05 ??? The only thing I can come up with so far is that they both have hood scoops, but the one on the 99 was just for show!
Tom - I am so sorry .... I didn't buy it sooner! I did find the coolest STI trunk lip spoiler. Company works out of Nashua, NH. $650. I can send you the link.
Dave M - Don't you have to buy one now, seeing that we have matching Seamist Outbacks?
    Everyone else - thanks!

Dave M - Don't you have to buy one now, seeing that we have matching Seamist Outbacks?

I was waiting to see what you're buying to replace the OBW. :)

Do I see a pattern - '96 Spruce OBW, '03 Seamist OBW, '06 Seacrest Tribeca???

I'll probably end up getting an '06 base OBW.

Dave, the dw's Outback is not scheduled to be replaced until 09. My guess is that she will lean toward some shade of green. Although, she was intrigued by the Tribeca in the last issue of drive ..... Rob M.

ever since I've upgraded my laptop and had to re-establish old links and bookmarks, I noticed that getting into this thread takes more clicks then before.

Below are the steps I have to go through right now. If you could give me some hints how to shorten the path, I'd appreciate that!

    1. Go to URL https://www.edmunds.com/apps/dcm/TownhallLogin.jsp?ApplicationType=Townhall&FormName=https- %3A%2F%2Fwww.edmunds.com%2Fapps%2Fdcm%2FTownhallLogin.jsp%3FApplicationType%3DTownhall&Ori- ginalUrl=http%3A%2F%2Ftownhall-talk.edmunds.com%2FWebX%3Fed_displayMakeModelRelatedDiscuss- ions%40%40.ee9204a%21make%3DSubaru%26model%3DAll%26conflimit%3DOwners+Clubs

    2. Click yes to message prompt about displaying both secure and unsecure items.

    3. Enter my email and password, click Sign In.

    4. Click Yes to the message "You will be redirected to a connection that is not secure"

    5. Getting to the page with some Subaru info but not the Crew page.
    /WebX?ed_displayMakeModelRelatedDiscussions@@.ee9204a!make- =Subaru

    6. scroll down that page and click link Owners Clubs

    7. Click Display All Subaru Discussions

    8. Click Meet the members II.

I clearly remember that prior to the laptop upgrade, I did not have to go throuh so many steps. What am I doing wrong?
  • Karen_SKaren_S Member Posts: 5,092
Here's how I access, however, I use the message center and read subscriptions.
I'm sure everyone has their own methods.

    Start here/bookmarked on my browser - http://www.edmunds.com/apps/townhall/welcome.jsp

Click on "sign in" in the upper left hand corner>enter email and password and log on.

This brings me back to the front page and my screen name now appears at the top left.

Then I click on the Message Center and it shows me my subsribed discussions have with new posts, and I go from there.

I do the same thing as Karen, but I never log off and I never reboot.

Ok, I do reboot once or twice a month. :shades:

The first time I go to Emunds on each computer I use, I sign in (check remember me on this computer), go to Subaru, click Display all Subaru Discussions. Once it brings up the discussions, I bookmark that page then simply use the bookmark in the future - one click and I get all the Subaru discussions. :)

I think Bob goes in the same way.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That's the first place I go as well. That way you catch all the new threads.

    I also use Subscriptions, though.

  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
that what I do. In addition, I have my preferences set so that the most recent posts show first. That way I'm almost always staying on page 1 of all the Subaru thread listings. It's just so much easier to do this, I think.

Elm, will you be back to work this week?

Next week Dennis, not this week. I am technically out 2 weeks but we'll catch up before the move ;)

    How was the chat?

The wifey came back from Atlanta late last night so I couldn't make it.

Haven't worked up the nerve to tell her we're selling the beach condo to buy a matching pair of Tribecas. ;)

drove to the credit union this morning (in my Outback of course) ... this is the fourth trip in to the office since the first week of April to try to get ONE thing done ...

1st trip (April 1 - which is probably why this whole thing is taking so long!) - took in the documents (finally) for them to change my name on the bank account and order a new debit card in the new name

get the card ... it doesn't work

2nd trip - (May 7) - they take the card that doesn't work and shred it and order another one .. should get the card and a new pin

I finally get a pin number of 0000 and no card (0000????)

3rd trip - (May 21) - woman at the desk tells me she can't get into the file to find out what was done in the 2nd ordering and I'll have to call back and talk to the one who did the ordering

4th trip - (today- May 27) - talk to the one who ordered the card on May 7 - and am told the woman last week COULD have taken card of the issue - that they would never send a pin of 0000 - and confirmed the address - no one can figure out why I didn't get a card (would that make any of you nervous to have a debit card with your name on it floating around?)
I'm offerred the choice of closing the file on the old card with the old name that still works and starting over, or trying to order a second card in the new name - again ... we order a new card and I leave seeing red

come home and get online to try to see who I can send a flaming letter of complaint to and can't find any info to help me ... finally fire off an email to the 'contact us' address which just says "to whom do I send a written letter of complaint about a service?" I GOT A PHONE CALL WITHIN about 3 minutes of the time the email left here!

explain the whole thing and got apologies all over the place and supposedly we're taken card of the way I wanted it to be in the first place ... so we'll see ...

the problem is - my card doesn't match my drivers license .. when they ask for ID the first name matches but not the second ... so far it's passed .. but .. well .. you know ..

    grrrrrrrr ....

go back to your regularly scheduled posting ... rant is over ... for now
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
They make mistakes, plenty of them actually. Always check your statements.

Once my credit union called me to tell me I bounced a check.

I said, "No way, no how. I'm very careful".

So I went in and found - guess what? Someone else set up autopay on his credit card and they were debiting MY account!

Recovered the funds plus interest immediately.

I just barely avoided an accident today driving to work. The freeway offramp I take splits into three lanes coming to a signal on a major street. Traffic was backed up on the leftmost lane and I was slowing down to a stop on the middle lane.

As I passed the cars stopped on the left, I noticed a silver WRX wagon up ahead. Just as I was alongside him, the driver decided to pop out into the middle lane without looking. Luckily, my attention was diverted to the WRX (I always check out other Subies) so I was instantaneously able to swerve to the right and get on the horn.

Luckily, there were no cars to the right of me, but what really got my heart pounding was how long it took the other driver to notice I was there. It seemed like ages until he realized he was blindly merging into traffic. I was almost at a 45 degree angle before he stopped moving in.

Needless to say, I was pretty angry. I looked back in the rearview mirror and saw the other driver, an older man, waving in apology.

    Grrrrrr.

    *primal scream*

I just got back from the local Meijer (sort of like a regional WalMart store) where I tried to pay for my purchase with the 'old' debit card only to have the cashier tell me that the card was REPORTED AS STOLEN .....

so it's 4:00 PM before the holiday weekend, and I race home and call to try to talk to the same person I had this morning at the main branch only to be told she had left for the day ... I asked to speak to MANAGEMENT ... when I went through the whole story, she told me that the woman at the credit union branch put the block on the card this morning and that she had not ordered the card properly .. that the "last" woman I talked to this morning DID put in the order correctly for another card and that she would remove the block ... she said that she would save a shot of the screen and make sure the supervisors saw how badly this had been messed up over the last 2 months ... talk about being PO'ed .....

*steam still coming out of ears*

We went rafting up the road this morning and coming home around 3 we go over a ~5,000 foot pass on the 4 lane section of highway. Most folks are going the other direction trying to get out of town for the holiday weekend.

I'm loafing along about 50 mph when I see a bunch of stopped cars at the top of the pass. No sheet metal damage, but there's a bull walking down the highway with a couple of cowboys on their cellphones getting advice from someone about how to corral this critter. He was about as big as my Outback and he wasn't apologizing to anyone!

    At least he waved, Ken.

It's a lot worse when they don't!

Bob and I are heading up to Vally Forge, PA, for the Tribeca Ride-n-Drive this coming Tuesday. Any special requests? Should I video tape my grunting in the corner or have Bob wear a helmet cam?

Yes, what time should I be there? ;)

I work a couple miles from Valley Forge National Park in Valley Forge, PA.

Is the event at the Valley Forge Convention center?

most likely they will only have you and maybe another soa person on board. my question is related to the low end torque issue. if you can can you grab some bigger bodies on board and try some 'entering highway from dead stop' and also what effect it might have on handling ( tossing it around ).

btw, helmeted bob pictures always welcome. and this time juice, we need the juice slam cam. forget whats happening outside, keep the cam on you. additionally since your cam has sound, if someone is throwing the car around try to capture tire squeal.
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788

first sail race of the season. took a close to shore route and hit a submerged boulder. this stopped the boat in a heart beat and launched me into the air striking the mast knocking me unconscious. i awoke in a foggy state of mind to find myself half in the boat tangled in rope. beach the boat after that and waited for help.
