    That pic is taken in the 1960 model year, as that is what the Lark and Champ pickup on top are.

    I like that jaunty little Champ with the short, old-style bed!

    That Packard is a 1956 Executive, Four-Hundred, or Patrician...all had the same grille. It would be in the bay near the words "Auto Transmission Service", LOL. Old guys will know what I mean.

    I wonder where this dealership was located?

    I like the '56 Bel Air too, one of those cars that defies my usual snobbiness about sticking to offbeat cars (I guess it's offbeat, compared to a '57 or '55, LOL). Solid black with an aftermarket white painted top. Striking! It's a six-cylinder based on the lack of a 'vee' under the emblem on the trunk lid.

    That's a very cool pic. 1960 is when the first fintails arrived on this side of the pond. For that immediate time, it must have seemed like a modern elegant design, even with the fins.

    Fun that the Ponton is in the "auto transmission service" bay, as that car was never offered with a full automatic.

    Now that I clicked on the link, I see it is the dealer in Ann Arbor, MI. I am thinking that fin once posted a pic of the one-car showroom sometime in the '64 model year. Tiny showroom, but the rest of the building was pretty deep.

    IIRC there was a deal for Mercedes -Benz cars to be sold through Studebaker Packard dealers. It was short-lived (two-three yrs?) because S-P went out of business.

    The common article error is that Studebaker got out of the M-B business when South Bend shut down, but in reality they had the U.S. M-B franchise though '65 (started in '57).

    Yup, the '52 Eldorado was the first car with wraparound front glass, first seen on Harley Earl's
    leSabre concept car the previous year which I recall being wowed by when I saw it at the 1951
    GM Motorama. The idea behind it was a F-86 Sabre for the road which at age 9 I thought was the coolest idea ever. In retrospect the leSabre was a bit over the top but the production version, the Eldo tamed it nicely.

    No, not a Fiat of any sort. It is an Innocenti 950 Spider from 1966, based on the Austin Healey Sprite.

    There's a '55 or '56 Thunderbird in the right corner and a couple of others from the 50s and a white/blue Olds or Buick just ahead of the '61. Just ahead of the black Jaguar is a nice blue(1957?) Country Squire.

    Is that a Studebaker between the two VWs in the row nearest the building?

    From photos I've seen the taillights on '55 and '56 T-Birds are nearly the same but the '56s had a home ring not seen in the photo and we can't see the obvious tell; whether or not there is an outside spare.

    Actually, the continental tire kit is not the obvious tell. Although standard on the 56, it was an after market option on the 55 and 57, sometimes installed by the dealer! Interesting story on the 56. Folks complained about the lack of trunk space in the 55 so for 56 the spare was moved outside for more room. GM did the same with the GTO. Folks complained about having to fill up the tank so much, so the gas tank was enlarged. Problem solved!

    a rare sighting in these lot pictures (but common today). A pick up truck! early 60's Ford. the integrated bed series?

    and at the bottom, a '67 Camaro (must be the newest car here?) in front of a white wagon with the odd inset lights. Is that a Hudson? I should know it.

    I think the wagon is a ~57 Rambler. Looks like a 67 Galaxie convertible beside it. I see a couple Camaros.

    67 T-Bird beside a dark colored Beetle in the 4th row/second column (facing right) with a 66 Galaxie in front of it. I see a Scout a couple rows back, towards the center/left, too.
