It's broken for me too - not sure what's going on. I'll report it and let someone dissect the html.

Ooh, sorry Bob. I didn't mean to mislead you about the ESX. There really was supposed to be a picture there!

I'd be alot more excited if it were a real ESX!

Bob, how's your Rex? Are you still enjoying it? :D

Speaking of WRXs, What do you guys think about the next STi vs Evo? I'm definitely getting an itch to buy something fast again. ;)

Can't say more than what has been already said, you & Deb are in our thoughts, here at home and here in the Crew.

Love it, except for the excessive road noise—which I believe has been addressed with the new model.

I like the new '08 model a lot, but I want to really see the STI. ;)

I like the Lancer, minus the grille opening. Mitsu did a good job with the update.

We've only seen STI spy photos. I still wonder if the flared fenders will make production, as IMHO those add a lot to the conservative overall 2008 design.

Ok, there's some bug that's getting worked on.

As a workaround until then, you should be able to preview your post and then remove the border="0" height="X" width="Y" part of the img tag. Let me test....

HEY! I'm still out here too. I do occasionally check in, but rarely post. I am too busy with work, but who isn't? Mikey, my 'baby boy' will be 12 next week. He has kept me going this summer. My LGT is pushing 50k in just over 2 years, all from commuting 90 miles a day. It is still a sweet ride. My only regret is that I never registered my Mustang GT this summer. Rob M.
  • tsytsy Member Posts: 1,551
Hey Rob! How's Boston? We've been getting rained on a lot here- wierd summer for us. :confuse:

Hey, if your youngest is 12, only a few more years and your free! ;) My youngest is 11, and I can't imagine what it will be like when they're all gone in college. I'm sure I'll be bored!

Hey, at the rate you're going you'll need a new car in 2 years!

    Stay cool Rob!

Still here, still have my '04 F-XT (which only has 23.5k miles on it). Brooke turned 6 in May and starts 1st grade in Sept., Brogan turned 4 in June and is in "Big Bear" (2nd year) preschool. I spend a lot of time moderating MPVClub.com and trying to keep up with the billions and billions of threads in the Subaru Crew. I've been a silent lurker reading the '08 WRX posts too.

Start posting, I could use some help over there...

Is the school actually called Big Bear? That's funny, given the family name and all.

Our baby, the youngest of three, is going away to college in about a month. Then it will be really quiet around here! Actually, once they start working, driving and hanging out with their friends, it starts. My wife and I are usually the only ones home at any given time, and dinner is for two more often than not. It doesn't seem that long ago that we were buckling kids into car seats, and toting around diaper bags, toys and all the other accesories. The time definitely flew by! While we're certainly not bored, we sure do miss having the kids around all the time!

It makes me a little sad to think about that now. I still like my kids. I suppose that might change after a few years of them being teenagers though! ;)

Wow Brian, only 23.5k? My 04 is now pushing 60k! Fortunately the new commute is less than 7 miles each way so that should significantly slow down the odometer.

Pretty soon it'll be Subaru Crew Juniors, i.e. our kids will have their own thread. :D

I am still here but since I am only here one day a week in the summer, I mostly just skim the posts in the meet the members and the cafe. Titan is still only at 28k miles, at this rate he will be good for at least twenty more years, ;) I hope so since I still love this car. :D

    Cheers Pat.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Wow, Pat, 2001 right?

You gotta drive it over here to MD to charge up the battery! :D
  • hondafriekhondafriek Member Posts: 2,984
Yeah juice 2001, most of the miles around town go on Rita's little Mazda. Titan is back and forward to the lake, don't do the miles I used to.

    Cheers Pat.
  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
Yep, the 4-5 yo preschool is Big Bear, the 3-4 yo preschool is Little Bear. It's at our church too.

  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
Yep and I'm averaging 21mpg overall, mostly due to the lower yield (18-20mpg city) when using the winter blend of gas around here. Once they get the summer blend at the pumps, my city average goes up to 22-23mpg. On the few trips I've taken to our data center in Madison I got 25-26mpg even w/ the cruise set at 70mph w/ the AC.

Lease on it is up in May '08. The next owner of it will be getting quite the well kept and just broken-in F-XT MT.

I'm sure it will still look brand new in 20 years too!!! :D

    tom
  • hondafriekhondafriek Member Posts: 2,984
Yeah Tom, if I have anything to do with it, it will still look new. It does still look new right now, it has a grand total of 3 stone chips, no dings or scratches. Unbelievable but true.

    Cheers Pat.

Quick as they are, which makes it tempting, I think we'll go with a non-turbo engine when we shop a 2009 Forester.

Good news is they'll probably get HP up to 175-180 on the base engine and the gas tank should at least match the 2008 WRX at 16.9 gallons.

We don't want to end up with less range than our 02 Legacy has now (21/27mpg, 16.9 gallon tank). I'm hoping the Forester gets Direct Injection and/or a 5EAT for a good 23/30 or better.

the bridge collapse in Minneapolis ....
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Yeah, saw the stunning video CNN has, unbelievable!

9 casualties so far, still some 20 people missing.

Thoughts and prayers with the families of those affected as well as the rescue workers as the search for more survivors resumes. :(

i know i posted before that i have had two of my grandsons here since june 9 ... we're all excited that their mom is arriving today (LOL!) ... i took husband and his younger son to the chicago midway airport on tuesday morning to fly to atlanta, pick up a rental truck, load her stuff, and get her here ....

my idea of the way to start a morning does NOT include getting up at 1:20, driving to chicago (through the semis and construction), turning around and driving back home (through the semis and construction)... all by 7 AM ..... (UGH)... i've driven freeways in huge cities on daily commutes and while i have no problem driving in those conditions i certainly do not miss it ! we did go in my outback rather than the "townhouse" since i'm a lot more comfortable in my car ....

at any rate, i almost feel as if *I'm* moving since i've had to completely clear out several closets and 2 bedrooms .... my whole house is upside down and i only have one week before school starts again ... wish us all luck !

maybe i'll make it into one of the thursday night chats again in this lifetime ...

    see ya !
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Good luck!

I wouldn't want to trade places with you right now.

We just finished our new deck, put up a basketball hoop, and plan to chill out the rest of the summer and hit the beach a few more times. :shades:

    Brenda-

Hang in there! Hopefully it will quiet down for you once school starts (even though that is when you expect to get nutty).

So far the new Job is working out for me. Loving paid OT and the freedom that a Field Engineer has. Getting AZP back up and running is also working out. Brakes and Suspension and 30k/60k is our focus (so anyone in NY/NJ who needs anything, give a hollar)

    Hey guys,

Just dropping in to say I missed ya and haven't forgotten about you either. Been very busy between my job, my business venture, family, nabisco, church, etc.

It's been pretty hectic... I've put in the business plan for the restaurant so now I sit and wait... nervous and anxious simultaneously.

Hope I didn't miss anything important here... if so, feel free to fill me in :)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Restaurant, eh?

Any chance you will serve Rally Bread and Grilled Turbot? :D
  • bigelmbigelm Member Posts: 995
LOL.... Once I get approved I'll let you guys in on what type of restaurant ;)
  • jeffmcjeffmc Member Posts: 1,742
& for lunch it'll probably be Pastrana on Rye. :D

The Subaru Crew chat will be taking a one week hiatus (that's fancy talk for vacation :P )

We WILL return next week, same chat time, same chat channel.

Whose turn will it be to bring the pizza??

If bigelm's restaurant is italian, he'll be bringing the virtual pizza.

Green peppers and olives, please. :)

This just came across the tape at work:

( PN ) 08/09 11:03AM 2008 Subaru Forester Awarded 5-Star Crash Safety Rating -- Subaru Forester received the highest government crash test ratings in both the frontal and side-impact NCAP crash tests

    Hey Elmer,

Glad to hear from you, will keep the fingers crossed that your business plan goes through.

    Mark
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It already had that rating. Did they re-test? I'm surprised. I guess they had not tested the 06 and later models specifically.
  • p0926p0926 Member Posts: 4,423
Jim- Yep, Elmer moved to Hotlanta shortly before I left there and moved to Phoenix :)

#6 "make" = Subaru is #3 manufacturer. Maybe Subaru needs to come up with four other brand names so they can slap on different badges. That way they'd be taking five of the top 10 spots. It'd be a marketing coup. :P (Can you tell I don't think CR should list Lexus & Acura separately from Toyota & Honda?)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    That's funny!

Just don't talk to me about a Premium brand, you know how I felt about that whole thing....

I thought he was in Atlanta. I'm currently traveling to Duluth, GA once a month for work. Hopefully, I'll get to stop in at Elm's place after it opens.

  • bigelmbigelm Member Posts: 995
    Hey... thanks everyone!

Yes, I'm in Hotlanta and with every sense of the word; we're at 98 degrees right now going up to 106 degrees by 1pm. :)

Well, here's alittle trivia... what is my nationality (Yes, I'm American, lol) - what ethnic background?

Duluth is not far from me, we can definitely meet up before I open my business, unless you rather wait for some [enter desired plate here - once you figure out my background] ;)
