Bob brought up a good point, though. The IS350 was my favorite for the day, but cramped as it is, we'd both rather get a Legacy GT spec.B for less cash.
I don't think the IS is much roomier than the 07 WRX, even. In fact the 08 WRX is probably more spacious.
The GS was better but the drive disappointed me. I expected it to be sportier.
No competitive models this year, just Lexus cars. The event itself was pretty good. If it's coming to a city near you, go for it.

I also agree with the AWD hybrid LS600h as being my favorite, as it was really fast and pampered you to no end. In spite of being a luxury barge, it handled remarkably well when pushed—and we pushed it! But being priced at over $116K, as equipped, it's a true "dream car." IIFC, they had about 6 models there you could drive. In fact there were more of this model than there were of the other hybrid models for test drives. Amazing.

My only regret, after leaving, was that I didn't take that model around the course a few more times, as it is really rare to get an opportunity to drive such an impressive vehicle.
Bob
I guess I didn't get that memo...

Paint it some cheesy color, like lime green. Or this yellow -> :lemon:
But I will gladly sell it to a drifter for about $2500 when I'm done with it

I want to post that in the 2008 WRX thread, where the naysayers kept insisting sales were gonna tank.
Subaru sales set September record (Journal & Courier in IN)
Subaru media has a chart you can look at too.

The downside is it's nearing SUV weight at 4300 lbs. If they could shave a couple hundred pounds off of it it would be a truly great car.
I suspect the CTS (at 300lbs less weight) is even a better handling machine with the same drivetrain and finally puts GM on the map with something luxurious and decently fast.
Too bad subaru didn't stick around with GM a little longer! They might have started to benefit from some things.

With rumors of a lightweight sports car in collaboration with Toyota, I'd say no regrets! :shades:
Ok, you're right. They're probably better off with Toyota.

Bob: Sorry to hear about Deb but glad to hear the prognosis going forward. Thoughts and prayers your way. Things are getting better here as well.
juice: I had a shingle between my shoulder blades when I was 26 (that's some time ago). No scarring. I was warned they could recur at any time after that but so far they haven't - and I've been through far more stressful things than whatever it was that gave rise to the shingle.
I've been in a full-time, permanent role in a business unit of a large multinational company since March. I'm a very small fish in a very big pond, but the fit is very good and there is potential for the future. Striking the work/life balance has been challenging, however.
My '05 Forester XT hit 40K miles a few weeks ago. My commute stinks but I carpool so only have to drive 2 days/week, 3 at most. No problems (knock wood) with the FXT, though I did have to replace front brake pads/resurface rotors at 37K miles - not under warranty. Nice the dealer service dept. couldn't have told me they needed replacing when I was in for service just before 36K! Had I known I'd have gone aftermarket right away.
Not sure if I mentioned that I finally sold my Studebaker in June. I miss the old car hobby and I hope to get back into it sooner than later, if things continue to progress as they have. The next car will have to be a bit more suited to modern conditions - and be more resaleable - than the Stude. Right now the lead candidate is the BMW 2002.

I've had to have a biopsy before, and it's very difficult to remain positive even throughout that procedure. Knowing that only a miniscule number of those who go through a biopsy are diagnosed with a cancerous growth is little balm for a chaotically screaming psyche screaming "but what about those miniscule few???" "What if that is me/us?"
Having been diagnosed with anything associated with cancer would set off such a cacophony of thoughts/feelings that I would sleepwalk through each day wondering how the rest of the world managed to go along as if nothing at all has happened ....
When these things happen to you and your family they are no longer "rare" occurrences, but you wonder how/why it has become so intimate with your personal life ...
Please know that my words assuring you that I will be thinking of you are more than just words ... I know of no one who would choose to walk this path you have been given, and anyone who must walk it needs courage to face it ...
I will continue to hope and celebrate the best of the news you send us, but will continue to keep you in my thoughts that the best remains far from the worst ...

Keeping our fingers crossed for Deb. Here's hoping good news only.

Rumors of a twin turbo H6 should appease anyone that needs more than what'll be soon offered in the STI. :shades:
Anyway, it was a wonderful experience. We chose a midwife-assisted home birth, and had literally no assistance except for the last 10-15 minutes of the process. It was incredible. I just read today that less than 1% of births in the US happen at home. People are really missing out.
We head out on our trip tomorrow, leaving Fairbanks in the F350 to drive to Oregon. We should be passing through Seattle next Wednesday.
Take care, all!

You think YOU have difficulty believing the whole thing ... try being the mom who went through the delivery! .... lol
I was gonna suggest "David Michael", naturally, but it's a girl, eh?
How 'bout a name with a K in it somewhere?
Awesome news!
Hope mother and baby are doing well!
I will say that having seen everything that can go wrong, I can understand why most births don't occur at home. I'm glad it was a wonderful experience for you though.
Have a safe trip!
tom
No 'k' though.
I have to run in order to get all the last-minute errands finished. I was just taking a short "will you hold the baby for a few minutes?" break. Play time is over. Not that one-handed typing is much fun, anyway!
Good policy - gotta make sure you get the vanity domain locked in before someone steals your name. :shades:
Congrats on the new kiddo!
Wish I'd thought of that before I submitted my son's pics to Drive a couple of years ago. That said our names are so common that Googling them will result in so many hits that you'd have to know more about us to find out anything else.
Congrats,
Ed

Glad to hear Deb is doing well. Sounds like our prayers were answered.
Wes,
It takes a few days to be walking on the ground again after the birth of your child! Although both my daughters are in college, I still remember the birth experience. Congrats!
Jim
At teh very least we'll have good Crew news to celebrate!
Congratulations! Glad to hear that everything went well.
As for home births, my nephews ex is supposed to be training as a mid wife- she was a labor/delivery RN.

Glad to hear that everything went well!
