It's funny but lane markers are completely ignored. You also don't stop at red lights at night, and conversely you have to slow down when it's green to make sure noone is running the red!

Jim, it's a word that describes word usage, like metathesis, onomastics, or etymology. Oh, where is my logophile Chris Torek? (I know where Loosh is today.) Figurative and allegory are of the same genre but not the word of which I'm thinking.
Thanks for indulging me. Let me know if you think of something else.

Man, what a blast! You get fully suited up and race JBKarts on a 1/4 mile track that's 23 feet wide. The karts can hit 40 mph on the straightaways. There were about 12 teams last night with about 6-7 people per team. We got the whole saftey run down and practice laps and then started into a 2 hour long race.
I drove twice for about a total of 20 minutes. The karts are super nimble and turn on a dime. It was tough not to come into corners too hot and go skidding into the side barriers at first. Once I learned the handling of the karts, I managed to do okay. I managed to run my circuits without getting black flagged. ;-)
The group had complete novices (like me) to people who showed up with their own helmets. The rush of adrenaline was pretty incredible. At the end of my runs, I was pretty exhausted and wired at the same time. Tons of fun!

fish schooling .. avoid touching each other makes a great mental picture
But I'm sure you're looking for fancy multisyllabic word.

They are powered by 125cc 2 stroke dirtbike engines & transmissions, which can make over 35HP. You have a clutch to get started and then it's clutchless... bang a lever on the right of the wheel forward to shift up, back to shift down. They hit 80MPH easily depending on gearing...

There's a place in Virginia (not shifter karts, though). Maybe I'll try to get Hutch, Bob, and Mike down there one day.

"Subaru of America Inc. said Thursday it is recalling certain 1995-1998 and some 1999 Legacy vehicles which may encounter problems with corrosion on their front springs.
Due to improperly applied paint by a supplier, continued exposure to salt may cause the springs on 180,000 cars to corrode and eventually break, the company said.
If the broken spring end is not contained, it could cause severe damage to the tires.
There have been no reported accidents or injuries attributed to the problem, Subaru said.
The problem is especially acute in states where road salt is used during the winter, and the recall affects only cars in those states.
The so-called "salt-belt" states are: Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Affected owners will be notified by mail. Subaru said it will install a front spring guard on both front struts and replace any broken springs."

SoA Press Release.
Colin -- Wow, 80MPH! 40MPH was a blast, I can't imagine what that would be like. As for being sore, however, I did manage to bruise myself even with my very timid and limited experience. Kind of embarassing.

I think the word we were searching for was "simile". One of those things which floats at the back of your mind but you need a wife to remind you.
Cheers
Graham
Now Drew just posted over in the CRV area, that he heard it had been changed to 70/30.
What's the scoop here? What is the correct front-to-rear power split? If it did indeed change from 90/10, when did that occur, and on what models?
Thanks
Bob

Re: grahampeters Jul 20, 2001 6:00pm simile it is! Thanks Graham and everyone that contributed. I must give credit to Loosh too -- when I saw him on Friday he knew it right away.
mouse409: Congrats, Richard, welcome to the Crew! Time to update your profile! Is yours a 2001? What color? Hope you stick around.

45/55 on VDC AT
50/50 on MTs
35/65 on WRX AT
Those are the ones I remember from Patti's post + subaru literature (VDC models)

Only problems may have been your angles of approach/departure.
I didn't even use low range at all. The scenery rocked, and the weather was perfect!

Thanks!
Patti
Because it is in the early stages, we won't really have much more on this for about 60 days. I'll keep you all in the loop as information (factual) becomes available.
Thanks!

Patti, any ideas if of the above are split 45/55?
Bob
Drew -- The LL Bean wagon doesn't get VTD, if I remember correctly.
Bob -- I'm sure the WRX Auto has a slight rear bias since it uses VTD.
Ken
LL Bean has the same tranny split as the std OB ATs. 80/20.
-mike
The manual tranny WRX is 50/50.

Manual trans has a 50/50 split.

Just like all of our postings. I've seen numerious other numbers stated for the power splits as well.

Cup holder stuck? I wonder if anyone spilled some soda on it and the parts got sticky? See if you can use a suction cup to pull it out gently.
paisan: wow, you guys already went? Time flies. Any Scoobies make it out? Photos?
We had a busy weekend, mostly with family, and very toddler-oriented. On a high note, my cousin had been considering trading in her '99 Outback for a minivan her sister-in-law was selling, but she could not part with the Outback and so she kept it. That's despite having 3 kids and it being their only non-company car.

Jay - Like I've said in the past, Subaru should come out with more torque split info than what's on that site. An email I received from SoA in 98 said that the manual (besides the normal split) can go from 90/10 - 10/90.
juice - your cousin could probably use the GMaru coming out in a few years.
Dennis
I think patti said it was 80/20->60/40 or 50/50 max on the ATs. I read an article from '88 that my XT6 is actuall 95/5->50/50.
-mike
Automatic - 45/55
Manual - 50/50
So says our tech. guru!
Patti
I bet those are theoretical estimates anyway.

I think a TOD-style display with the instant torque spread would be a neat gimmick. If SIA makes one, how hard could it be to adapt it?
-juice
-mike
Do you know who the supplier is for the display? I think it's pretty neat.

juice - That's my beer, keep away. :-)

Excuse me! Huh? What was that? ;-)
Yeah, Patti, I say give me an indicator for my 2005 3.0l H6 light pressure turbo 6 speed manual Grand Forester Plus sky roof edition.
