A friend of mine who owns a couple of 911's, sent me a link to the commercial a few days ahead of the Super Bowl. We both thought 'mildly entertaining', but not in the BMW Films ballpark.

Groundhog Day themed Jeep ad was probably the best of the Superbowl. Porsche was cool too, trying to recognize the scenery, but as that movie is relevant to my interests, I got it.
The majority of people seem to "get" ads based on past movies, for either good or bad. Since I do not see very many of those though, the appeal is lost on me.
Groundhog Day is nearly 30 years old now, to my eyes kind of a classic with that 80s-90s comedy that just doesn't exist in new movies. As it featured other characters from the movie (the mayor - Brian Doyle Murray, and Ned Ryerson), it worked.

Mahk better hope they keep up with the lame campaign, he's no doubt made significant money mocking it.
I have a stinking suspicion the suits are so full of themselves that they think it is a good theme, and will continue to run with it. At least the replacement is a complete lifer.
Saw a Toyota ad proclaiming the Prius is "stylish", and a Honda ad with the "fun to drive" CR-V.
There has to be a case for a false advertising claim on this, right?
Unfortunately stylish and fun are subjective terms with relativity at play. I remember a woman praising the Murano as like a "sports car" in the twisties to Enterprise upon return, as no doubt she was used to something that handled even worse.
I've driven the Murano; it was OK, and has a dreaded CVT.

I laughed out loud at the ad where the family is in the SUV, with the wife driving. The husband announces with a smile "I quit my job today", then the teenage daughter pipes up with "I met the coolest guy on the internet...he's 30" and the youngest son said "Hey mom, you remember that tattoo I was thinking about getting?" All this time, a bunch of bottles are falling off the truck in front of them and the woman calmly steers around the obstacles.
I have been looking for a copy of that ad on YouTube.
I am getting more and more annoyed with the GMC Christmas couple commercials. I saw another one over the weekend and it showed this 30-something pair - I assumed them to be a senior entertainment industry exec of some sort and a dot-com tycoon - in a mega-millions modern architecture mansion, with of course a pair of new GMCs parked out front. I'm not sure if that image really matches up well with the GMC brand image. The couple looked like they would more likely be shopping at their local M-B/Bentley/Lambo dealer.
Is the GMC spot the "his and hers" headache? Two GMCs in front of the house, a full sized mallcruiser pickup and a CUV box. Couple is outside, one assumes the CUV is for her, but she goes to the pickup, and of course he just smiles or something. Whatever will the bros think back at the jobsite operated by uncle's greased palms contracting company, or at the office park?
An RX with a bow on it in front of a mcmodern mansionette is just right on a few levels.
There’s another GMC one where hubby whistles and a cute puppy comes thru the snow for wifey. The wife whistles and a GMC pick up comes driving thru the snow for hubby!

I was so gobsmacked by the images of the property that I forget what the 2 vehicles were. This is different from the one I saw earlier in the month which I think was a carryover from last season, with a dark blue pickup and a red SUV. He says "I like red" after she runs over to the pickup and says she loves it, despite it being what he bought for himself.
I'd wager a big 4 door pickup and something like a Terrain or Acadia.
Putting a showy house in the ads probably works wonders in a culture that is weirdly more obsessed with housing than probably at any time in history. However, the cloned mcmodern is probably more likely to have a pair of white Teslas or Audis in the driveway.

Yeah, a loaded Denali PU and a Terrain (the little one?). Though at the close, they have an Acadia (the big one?) in place of the PU. And must not have had much budget since they used the same commercial as last year, and did not even swap in new cars.
The house is cool though. Very modern and cool looking.
Mercedes straying far off their usual path for their 2021 E-Class commercial. Not sure this will appeal very much to the usual buyers. Not sure how many new ones it will attract either.
Yeah maybe trying a little hard - it seems every Xlennial, especially those with micromanaged devilspawn, wants a potato CUV/SUV or maybe a 4 door pickup for everyday use. Going to be a hard sell to put them behind the wheel of dad's sedan, even if the facelift has received pretty positive reviews (I am still bitter about the formal grille/hood ornament being dropped for the NA market)
We only went one time last year, but only walked the boards. No rides or anything. Will probably be the same this year. It’s a shame, the kids love the water parks.
Wife and I both have decided we didn’t get to the beach as often as we should have considering we are down there every weekend.
I like the Kia Telluride commercial where they meet a donkey carrying white paint cans and farther up the mountain, men are painting the clouds. The driver says he thinks they went too high.
This is the first time I've seen this James Bond's VW Beetle commercial. It is certainly a cool concept, and it's fascinating to see how technology evolves and influences everyday experiences.

This aired a lot when I was a kid, and this bit always cracked me up. Still pretty amusing.

Several good lines - "two tone rust", "absolutely no charge whatsoever except for parts, labor, and towing", etc.

Even the showy mcmodern box house prop is on point for these spots.

This is one of the most entertaining dealer-produced ads ever, such a slice of a moment in time:

The Hyundai SugarMama commercial is fantastic!
The first ad is the best, worth watching though.
The Kia Sugar Momma is back!
My bad. Not Kia. Hyundai Tucson!!
