    Those early model Riv's were handsome cars. It has a really nice profile. I like the 65 best with the clamshell hidden lamps.

    What's with that lifted yellow beast (appears to be a Ford business coupe)? Some kind of early 4x4 thing or just jacked up? I see the nose of a Porsche several cars to the right, looks more 356 than 911/912 to me. 3 cars in on the rightmost row, a Thunderbird Landau extra blind spot edition, would have been new.

    I haven't seen the entire car lifted idea, usually just the rear end (or the front, for weirdos).

    55 Thunderbird, 59 Ford , yellow Karmann Ghia, couple of Beetles. Haven’t ever seen a Thunderbird Landau with that style roofline.

    If you look at it closely that Ford is higher in back than front. It's next to a 64-ish Ford Fairlane.

    That's right, but it still looks really high at both ends. Maybe was a local or short-lived fad.

    Car to the right appears to be a 68 Galaxie fastback.

    Sorry - I was elsewhere today so didn't come back on my latest post

    Yes you are on the right track - the little red car was a Mini Marcos
    Marcos made normal size sports cars - some based on the Volvo 1800 engine and other on BMC units but made a kit based on the Mini , and a considerable number of ready built units were produced as well
    They sold hundreds and they were really potent for competition as they weighed nothing and handled like a go-cart
    There are still quite a lot left although the one in my post may not be one of them judging by its sad state of repair

    GAZ M20 Pobeda 4x4. Funny, as when a US magazine tested a normal Pobeda, the article was prefaced with something like "go to your local junkyard and find a '46 Ford" when describing the design.

    On the street is a white over red '60 hevy Biscayne to it's right a Datsun 2000 or 1600 Sports and next to that a Triumph TR-4 or 4A like the '66 I had.

    Yupthat's it bhill2. The Shelby version was basically an Omni with mods to style and running gear
    Charger and LH-S versions were added along with Plymouth Turismo versions with no Shelby connection.

    Interesting photo with a mix of Brit and US cars taken somewhere in Canada. Farthest left is a mid-50s Chevy, a Morris Minor to it's right, then an MG-A facing what looks like a Vauxhall.

    I think one of the Morrises is bigger than the other - the left hand one looks more like an Oxford to me though the right side is a Minor - not least as they didn't sell two door Oxfords.
    It's like the way Audis are like Russian doll sets - the only difference is the size of the car...

    Is that the Canadian flag before the 67(?) Maple Leaf design?

    The partial car to the left looks like a Pontiac and looking at a blurry enlarged image of the front end it has the chrome bands on the hood and the blunt dagmars. In Canada? I go with
    1956 Pontiac Pathfinder.

    Sort of. That is the Red Ensign, which was commonly used as such before the Maple Leaf.

    That link about the flag was interesting. Other Commonwealth nations have also got rid of the British emblem on their flags, although the Australian and NZ flags still have them as do a few of the smaller island groups etc.
    Not sure why Hawaii still has something resembling a British standard though

    Yes, that car to the right is an E series Vauxhall - probably a Velox or Wyvern as the Cresta was generally a bit more bling - actually the Wyvern being the lowest specification model may not have even been sold in North America ?

    I am not sure about Canada, which for multiple reasons had a wider UK import range than the US, but I am pretty sure the Wyvern was not officially sold in the US anyway. As you probably recall, Canada also got the F series Victor as the Envoy - I think this model was the replacement for the Wyvern, so maybe.

    I've seen the PA Cresta in multiple pics in Canada, yet never seen one in person there - I've seen several surviving Envoys. Those Crestas can be pretty cool cars.

    That's correct, the Ferrari 250GT 2+2 was indeed styled by Pininfarina as were most Ferraris of the 60s. It was the most popular variant of the 3 liter Ferraris and IIRC the first to feature four seats. Nowadays it is known as the 250GTE. E for Estendo (long wheelbase). In the US Pontiac division offered a '65 Catalina model known as the "2+2" with some performance and luxury enhancements.
    The other car, the Fiat Millecento (1100) was Fiat's mass market family sedan during the 50s and is highly regarded.

    Actually back in the day it was commonly referred to using the "GT 2+2" which set it apart from the other
    members of the 250GT family. Back then I never heard or saw the "GTE" name nor have I ever seen another model called a GTE. There were 330GT 2+2 (Enzo himself drove one) abs 365 GT 2+2 models.

    I see a 62 Ford Galaxie going through the intersection. Looking at the gas prices, x10 is the local prices today. Maybe not tomorrow with the current gas panic.

    Looks like a Mustang 2 cars in front of the 62 Ford, so pic is from the middle of 64 or later. Housing styles and foliage has kind of a PNW look to it, not WA plates. Looks like a British Ford beside the gas price sign.

    That's not so unusual for the mid-'60s. When I worked at a gas station in '72, we'd roll everything out in the morning, oil can racks, tire racks, windshield cleaning supplies, then back in at closing time. I don't remember having a gas price sign, but if we had one, it would have been the same. Just the thing for fighting the 'gas wars', especially with a Shell station across the street from this Mobil station.
