Today my detective and I tallied up the number of homicide cases we were working- the number was 8.
Until after lunch; that's when we learned we were about to get two more- a 2009 cold case revived by a DNA hit in CODIS(Combined DNA Index System), as well as the newly discovered remains of a missing person.
So we are currently at 10...

This was some years back, but I had my sites set on a used, very reasonably priced late model Audi S6. The guy who was selling it said he didn’t like it after he bought it. So, his loss was my gain (or so he said). It had a salvage title, which given the price, still didn’t scare me as it seemed to drive just fine.

Asked about the salvage title and he said there was some electronics issue that kept the car from starting. He said he fixed it with a new ECU.

It was a high buck car, and there were no signs of it being in a wreck. So, why slap a salvage title on it when an Audi dealer could have put in a new ECU and probably have it back on the road in a day.

Thinking to myself….OK…so AFTER he bought it, ECU issues cropped up and he fixed it, and THEN decided he didn’t Iike the car.

No signs of much wrong, until I tried to adjust the power passenger’s seat (drive’s seat was fine). It wouldn’t work. Reached under the passenger’s seat to find a puddle and a bunch of soaked rags. Someone didn’t check all the details.

Checked the back seat carpet area. It was damp but not wet.

Finally got him to admit it was a flood car that was parked down by the OH RIVER when it had overflowed. He bought it, cheap. Dried it out (except under the seat) and replaced the ECU (which interestingly enough, wasn’t affected by the flood as the water didn’t get that high.

If he had been up front with me, I still might have bought it. It was that nice…and really cheap for what it was.

Told him as much. Someone, I’m sure, who could only see it was cheap, did buy it. Flood car? An Audi no less? Best of luck!

Thanks all for the recommendations. Long Beach wouldn’t be my first choice of places to go, but pieces
fell into place for the trip. Only out of pocket for us is my flight ($340) and a dinner or two. Any weekend for adulting works for me. One SIL will take my son and the other my daughter. Mom gets the animals, lol

Before we bought the BMW we found a really good priced MB roadster. Went to look at it but found out it was a salvaged title. We couldn't get far enough away from that car quick enough. Sure it could have been fixed up well enough to be a good car but I'm not taking that chance as the odds are against it.

My Dad returned home from WWII on the Queen Mary in late 1945. He said it was a beautiful ship and the ship’s staff served the GI’s like they were royalty.

When I lived in Southern California in the 1990’s, I took the tour of the QM and had dinner in their dining room. Great experience and I’ll remember it until I die because it brought my Dad back from Europe!

Homicide is the killing of a person, murder is killing with intent; in Kentucky we also have the charges of 1st and 2nd Degree Manslaughter as well as Reckless Homicide- so it all depends on the facts.

Got behind Mini Clubman today that had some odd brake lights. The were 3 lines one horizontal in the middle with a diagonal line above and below both meeting at one end of the horizontal line forming what looks like two arrows on opposite sides of the car pointing at each other.

Now the problem was when his left turn signal was activated it looked like a right arrow was blinking on the left side of his car.

Well when I saw them I thought they were aftermarket ones that were put on backwards. Now I have to question why Mini would do that.

I have to say that the "arrow pointing" design has never been an issue for me; I'm concentrating on which tail lamp is flashing. I find the beyond moronic Pulse blinking CHMSL much more annoying.

My wife and I went on a nice overnight trip and while driving home on some twisting two lanes I spotted a Taycan, an F10 M5, and a C7 hustling along nose to tail in the opposite direction. I was in the 2er- and more than a bit tempted to make a u-turn and join the fun.

I was behind a Ford small car a few years old where the center high mounted light did NOT flash, but the two taillights flashed 5 times every time they put their foot on the brake. It even seemed to cycle again after the foot was on brake for a while or the person had lifted their foot and put it back down while waiting to pull out of a restaurant driveway.

I see those a lot, some dealerships install them as a pricy upgrade on all their vehicles. My understanding is that they are illegal.

Not so easy. Look again at the rear lights. The inner edge is more or less straight up and down, but the outer edge is curved, especially so at the top.

Excellent point. In Florida it wouldn't matter, no one uses turn signals anyway.

Do you know how many times I could have made a turn or got into traffic..........if the other drivers had signaled their turn which actually happens about 20% of the time.

I saw a strange vehicle today. A Brabus.

I passed it and it had a Mercedes logo on the front. On the side was a V8
symbol. White with black accents. Loud engine and tire treads on the interstate.

Turn signals are one of mankind's better inventions. Not up there with the flush toilet or the wheel, but still important.
