trying to spread the love today. Put in 4 bids on 4 totally different vehicles. I won't say which since I think I'm being watched and somebody is bidding up the vehicles I go after. LOL. $2200 for that Sambar? Seriously? Oh, hell no.
Just for info, it isn't until a bid is placed that they'll translate the auction sheet. I cancel the vast majority of my bids at that point because something in the report scares me off. For example, on a Pajero last night, they came back with "engine noise" and "AT broken." So I canceled, of course. Then, somehow, it got bid to about $2500 and didn't sell. Huh?
Did I mention the Gloria ship has been delayed? Expected 6/27 now. I found out I can get it myself if I have a "TWIC card". Just applied for that and have an appt tomorrow to get fingerprinted and photo'd. Not sure I'll have it in time, but probably worth having it anyway.

I have a soft spot for all those mid 80s Chryslers/Dodges. The Laser/Daytona was actually considered a G platform car … but that was derived from the K platform and very similar.
I don’t like the colors of the BAT one posted above but it sure is in nice shape.

A TWIC card is what people need in order to move freely inside a port. Truck drivers bringing in or leaving with overdimensional freight is how I came to know this.
You are, in fact, becoming the "pro from Dover" (very old MASH movie reference).
You wouldn't need to go too crazy to get the towing capacity needed. My Q7 with a weight distributing hitch would be a fine choice for such duty. Depends on what you're selling, of course. An HD pickup might be more than it could handle, but then that might be more than the car hauler (if enclosed) could manage, as well. However, you could always use the trailer to haul *your* car, and use the customer's vehicle to pull it. Hahha
You're really going all-in on this, though! It's fun to be along for the ride.
Not too crazy. 7k would be good and cover most needs. If I get like ... I dunno, an old Cherokee Sport or something like that at auction, that plus the trailer is going to be significantly over the 5k limit of the Wrangler.

Right. Without it, I have to either hire a driver with one or make an appt with Norton Lilly to have an escort. Still might need to do that for this first shipment.
My plan, at this very moment, is to rent a car dolly and tow it behind the Wrangler. Wife suggests I get a full-on car hauler and then I can deliver vehicles to customers, too (for a fee). Seems like a fine idea. Trick is having a vehicle that can do such a thing. The Jeep can handle up to 5k, but a car hauler is 1200-1800 by itself, so that leaves me with a max 3500-lb car, and that's obviously pushing the limits. The Sprinter can handle more, and we did spec the tow package. Pondering buying that in the business name for the tax deduction, but I know insurance is supposed to be higher going that route. No idea yet how much higher.

Speaking of the Q7, I finished the "cat back" exhaust mod last night. While I love the results, that was one heck of a difficult project to undertake! It seemed like it should be simple... a couple hours of removing and reinstalling parts, all readily accessible under the vehicle. However, it is the EXHAUST system, which means of course their will be challenges (such as hopelessly corroded bolts between sections of piping).
With more patience than I thought I still possessed, I manage to slowly work through each and every dilemma until I eventually had the old parts removed (that was probably five hours of rapid-fire challenges). Installation of the new parts was very fast, maybe an hour tops.
I've been playing around with my driving style over the last few months to try to eek out a little more economy (given the fuel prices, you know!). My one trip to work this morning... trip economy showed 36.7 mpg. My best - absolute best - results prior with the same driving behavior was 33.1 mpg last week. 36.7 included a little acceleration testing early on as well, just to feel that extra torque, so I'm hoping to improve on that number a little in the coming weeks.
I still need to tear down the top end of the engine to address the coolant leak, so that's next on the list ("soon").

I came across an old R&T article comparing the M2 C to a Camaro SS 1LE; the conclusion was the Camaro was more akin to an E36 M3 while the M2C channels a musclecar vibe. I have liked the Camaros I have driven, but again I suspect I'd tire of it sooner than later.

Correct; it is sneaky because it doesn't show up in the quick links unless it has a draft saved there. Henry's method works, too, if you have the patience for that sort of thing.

Looks like we both only have a few months until years end since we both bought our vehicles in December of 2014, mine about a week later than hers. But something is better than nothing just in case something does go wrong in either vehicle.

I recall a business colleague having one of those “back in the day”. His was black, which looked quite sinister. I drove it briefly once. Fun car at the time. His was a manual trans. Clutch was light but the shifter was imprecise and “wobbly”.
He ended up trading it for a Rover, which was the most disastrous car ownership story I ever heard. It started as soon as he literally drive it off the dealer’s lot, and the engine bay started spewing fluids all over.

What can I say, I don't like the guy. I find his attitude, his arrogance, his sense of self-importance to be quite off-putting. The cars I like, the investment in space exploration I like, the man, no.

It’s been a long couple of years here at casa de nyccarguy. The last time I posted photos of my basement, it was under 2 1/2 feet of water back in September. While I had the walls fixed & painted relatively quickly, we weren’t quite sure what to do with the basement floor. We decided to go with porcelain tile.

even the low roof wasn't going to fit in the garage at SC. Yes, I'm 6'5". It is an overly tall vehicle as is, adding high roof and 4x4 suspension makes it super awkward. Almost 10' tall vs its 8' width.
