the garages now actually have pretty high ceilings. 1st floor is 9', and there is a decent drop to the garage. So likely 12'? Not sure if quite enough to put in a 4 post lift though.

it would be nice to have but not sure how much ROI there would actually be. The resales I have seen that have one don't seem to really be more expensive than a comparable house with a 2 car garage. Certainly, if there is a bump, not enough to make back the cost (same with a pool actually!)

the 2 we are considering are oversized. 1 is a 2.5 basically (they call it that) with a 5' width added on so more space on the sides. The other one is already decently wide (22') but it has a 17'x6' storage space at the front, so one bay is effectively 28' deep. That would be where the workbench and snow blower live!

That last one describes our garage - like, 1 1/2 cars deep on one side.

A neighbor across the street is able to squeeze three cars into a similar space - a Kia Sorento, a Soul and a Sportage. I don't think there's much else in there, however.

if you wanted to, could put something like a Mini or Miata sideways in the front section. Nothing else of course. But I would not try. Good space though for some shelves or a cabinet, a workbench, and the snow blower.

This link looks funny and may not work, but the National Park Foundation currently has a sweepstakes giving away a Subaru Solterra EV as well as other prizes. No donation necessary to win if you're willing to send postcards (the rules say each card counts for 20 entries and you're allowed to have up to 100 entries).

I could probably fit two MINIs, nose to tail, on that side, if I cleaned out the shelves, the spare refrigerator, and the trash/recycle bins.

The guy I bought my Bavaria from had a two car garage; on one side was a 1969 SS396 El Camino and on the other side were two '60s vintage Minis- parked perpendicular to the Chevy.

I can see how that might work, since it seems likely that only one of the Minis would be able to start on any given day. 😉

You’d probably drool over a house 2 blocks from me. It has a side entry 3 car garage at each end of the house.

In 1989, not too long after I moved into my second house, this new build just eclipsed $1M and they weren’t done building it yet. Around here that was fantasy land money back then. The house still looks good today.

before my time but when my parents bought the house I grew up in (they got it before I was born and had it until I was about 54) they had a Metropolitan, and some sore of Chevy FS wagon. it was a ranch with the garage part of the basement (the lot was sloped) so it was full depth of the house. And apparently, they could park the Metro and Chevy nose to tail and close the garage door.

BTW, I'm assuming this is what they mean when they say that older EVs will support Supercharging "with an adapter." The adapter is built into the Supercharger station and not something which has to be carried around in the EV. Given the timelines, I'm assuming they plan to retrofit the existing Supercharger network with "Magic Dock" stations.

They punched it as a loaner but the parts manager for both their Acura stores used it as a demo and lives only a few miles from the store so that's all it got in 10 months. The agreed upon sale price is less than $1,000 over what it would cost to buy a new MDX A-Spec and this thing is pretty spotless. Add in the additional CPO benefits and low (for the time) financing and it was a no brainer to get off the lease carousel when you consider total cost. We extracted more than expected equity from the RDX and the buying experience was pretty painless as well.

At dinner last night (nice restaurant in the horse town) I pointed out some of the many BMW convertibles around to the wife. She seemed receptive. Could have been the bottle of wine working! And at the market today there was an electric lime green mini convertible I made sure to point out.

And took the next step. Had her drive home from the store to see how driving the maverick was. Other than not knowing where the back end was (that takes a little practice) she said it drove nice. So now need to get her to drive a 2 series or some other toy option. As long as she is ok driving at least one of them should be cleared for shipping! At least once we finish screwing around with looking at houses!

I finally had the opportunity to do a couple of 0-60 pulls in the Prius today. Anyone care to guess the results? OE was supposedly right around 10 seconds, but that was a new vehicle and not a hooptie with 229k miles.

(And no, before I get comments from the peanut gallery, the result wasn’t a blown engine or any other malady.)
