It's the opposite problem now: Gauges are lit brightly during the day and dim at night, so if your gauges are blinding you at night, you probably don't have your lights on! :D

Did the Petersen Museum today. It's been several years since I was there, but I remember being more impressed by the LeMay in Tacoma. Maybe I'm more jaded now. It was definitely worth a stop, though, and worth paying extra to be able to go down into "the vault."

I feel that way about every museum, any more. Since the wife didn't want to go, I paid for The Vault tour in the basement. It was very interesting. The main exhibits.. not as much.

I could use a little help from any of you guys who have apple phones. Since I installed the latest update on my iPhone 16, (18.1.1) last week, I've had awful problems with my emails. I get no alerts and have to manually open the MAIL app and/or refresh the app to get my emails. Have any of you had similar problems with your phones since the update last week?

Hey Mike, I just encountered a similar issue and found the problem. Apple screwed up with this update and changed a setting in the mail app. I had to go into Settings-> Apps -> Mail and scroll down to where there is a setting to retrieve mail. You can set it to Fetch or to Push. Mine was set to fetch which only happens when you somehow tell it to act. It had always been set to push previously which made it automatic. I set it back to that and the mail came rolling in again! Bizarre how these things can happen in an outfit like Apple.

Stick, that's what I did many years ago when going own to Baltimore from Westport. Taking the Tappan Zee had me skip the busiest part of New York which was great since it was my first time driving down that way.

I use a cane, have been since my accident in 2005, but also have a walker and another walker with wheels and a seat. Use the walker a lot more when the vertigo hits as the cane has a tendency to slip and then I fall. My balance is a bit off since the accident so go for physical therapy every so often and it does help. Keep the walker in the back seat and use my cane to get out of the car until I can get back to retrieve the cane. This getting older is for the birds when one has medical issues but am happy to still be alive so just deal with it all.

The Tappan Zee used to be a good short cut, but the traffic has gotten MUCH worse in on 287 in Rockland/Westchester. Usually the WAZE/GOOGLE MAPS sends me across the GW and go up The Deegan, across the Cross County, & up the Hutch/Merritt. It takes the same amount of time.

My newer 15 Pro Max was also set to "fetch" so made it "push" now. Had to do a few changes on this new phone to make it work like my older 12 did but since I was gifted the 15, was happy to make the few changes it needed. Finally am used to th larger size and it isn't that bad really. But if I was buying a 16, I'd probably go for the smaller phone but definitely the Pro. Overall, like iPhone over an android phone for everything. Am very pleased.

I know when I was staying in Westport many years ago, had to go to Staten Island to visit some cousins and it took me on a bridge where I only paid one way, not sure of the name though. But "278" was a road I was traveling on. Going back to Connecticut, remember getting lost for a spell but finally got to where I was going. Hopefully I'll get to go back one more time to re-visit where I grew up. Strange, been living in South Florida since 1969 but still consider New York and Westchester my home. Grew up in a very small village, Briarcliff Manor, and spent many happy hours on our bikes just exploring the area. Those were some of the happiest times growing up with a couple close friends. I still enjoy opening up my picture album from time to time to see those happy sites.

Pn the Sonata the gauges light up but none of the controls for the radio, HVAC and those on the steering wheel won't light up until the headlights are on.

On the 4 series I wouldn't know because we keep the lights set to auto all the time.

287 through nyack until past the garden state can be jammed. When I came up from south Jersey I would take the palisades to 9W and drop right onto the bridge approach to skip that part. Big help. Also depends if you are heading north or south from the bridge as to what makes more sense. I always was going north up 684 and not all the way across to hit 95.

Actually, a door spring failed. That's a real shin buster.. :/

Bought the parts on-line ($37). Got a friend to help me, mostly for getting the dishwasher out and back in. We re-did the kitchen, last year, and I wasn't sure of how everything was attached, this time. A lot of fiddling to get the level correct (front/rear, side/side), but looks great now.

Once the dishwasher was out, about 15 minutes for the repair. (90 minutes getting it in and out, and leveled). I would estimate about $250 bill, if I had called the repairman.

I'm not a YouTube guy, but it's great for small stuff like this.

Also, no way I was spending $250 on a 13-year old dishwasher. Lowe's is having a big sale on certain Bosch models.

I have remount the DW at the shore. The countertop guys didn’t do a good job. They used some sort of bracket at the top but it’s causing it to be sloped down a bit in the front.

Need to take it out and mount it to the side cabinets like the one at home is.

Speaking of DW .. our 4 year old Kitchen Aid was inaudible when new but now I hear it. Not overly loud but something is going on. It’s staying that way until it dies. Assuming the motor or pump is going out.

Love the way it cleans but not happy about durability. It’s already been fixed once for the seals on the heating element going out (under warranty)

In our last house, we had the diswasher for about 6 years before it started sagging when you opened it.
The installers didn't attach it to anything.

Two of my friends are plumbers. They insisted on installing the dishwasher when I rebuilt our kitchen. They both said there was nothing to screw the dishwasher to. They had the front of the dishwasher flush with the cabinet doors instead of with the cabinet itself. They moved it in (where it is supposed to be) and screwed it to the cabinets.

We were at one of their houses over the weekend and his is correct. I asked him about it, and he said he moved his after putting mine in. :/

FWIW, I prefer to mount dishwashers by screwing it to the cabinets on both sides. Just from a physics standpoint it makes more sense to anchor it more towards the middle than at the top.

IMO, dishwashers are the most unreliable appliances in the house that’s why I buy the extended warranty and that’s the only time I buy an extended warranty.

13 years is pretty good. Maybe that’s because it’s a Bosch. Our last dishwasher, a Samsung, was also 13 years old which was replaced last Summer with a Maytag/KitchenAid. However, the Samsung was repaired twice (pump assy). Really should have been once if the idiot that did it the first time knew what he was doing.
