My wife got to sit on the grand jury in our county. Every Thursday for 3 months. They even named her foreperson.

Old age is a real SOB. I've been limping around a lot lately as my left knee is shot but the ortho docs don't want to replace it (which they tell me it needs) because of my other health problems, which I get and kind of agree with. That means my ability to do physical stuff is very limited but today I was feeling not so bad so I decided to do some trimming of some hedges in the back yard. That got off to a flying start as about 5 minutes in, the trimmer quit. Unplugged? No. Trimmer gone bad? No. Finally I examined the electrical cord and discovered something I had never done before: I severed it with the trimmer. Amateur move. I did a quick and dirty repair temporarily using electrical tape that took maybe a half hour all told after gathering up tools and necessary supplies. But in the end, success!

I started back in on it and encountered a volunteer vine I had never seen before coming through a large bush. Exploring, I could see 3 stalks of it deep inside the bush. I trimmed 2 of them as close to the ground as I could get but #3 was even deeper inside and I couldn't get at it, so I decided to give it a tug. After some effort, it succumbed and popped out, but so did my bad knee. Geez, that hurt. I could barely put the tools away. That was the end of my efforts for the day on that front. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Ouch! I did that with our electric mower a couple of summers ago. Had to replace the extension cord entirely. The old one was at least 20 years old so I know I got my money’s worth from it.

Do you have an compression type knee braces?
They are pretty cheap and really do help.

I feel your pain. It seems when one part phases out after not being right, another body part
starts giving discomfort. Nothing as bad as what you're describing however.

Another topic, son has an Outback rental. Driving to his work location in Colorado (Springs? area) Monday, there was a thump and then all kinds of lights turned on. ABS. Engine. Steering lost assist.

I told him the thump was likely the car changing when something electrical happened. Maybe transmission downshifted to only certain gears it could use, e.g.. He's sure he didn't hit something on the road.

Outback had 2000 miles on it. Hertz.
They brought him a different vehicle and trucked the Outback back. They said it wasn't safe to drive.
Son said the engine didn't feel right after that happened. I told him it probably was in limphome mode.

Yep, was wearing one at the time. They usually do help but it got extra-cranky today.

Hey all, emerging from a long and deep lurkdom thinking someone here might have some intel…

Going to be moving long-distance next month and looking to ship one of our vehicles. What kind of good/bad/ugly experiences can y’all share regarding vehicle shippers? Any outfits I should specifically look into (or avoid?)

I’ll be switching from a lurking member of the Kentucky chapter of C&C/CCBA to a lurking member of the Denver chapter, so any tips, tricks, or hacks regarding the area would be appreciated as well!

3 years ago I needed a vehicle shipped from CT to OH.
Qbrozen suggested Shiply. They are a broker, so they get a fee, and you get quotes from a bunch of different transporters.
I picked a highly rated shipper and was very satisified.
Car was picked up about 8PM in CT and delivered by Noon the next day in OH.

@ronsteve My son had a shipper haul his Copart Crosstrek from Massachusetts to Ohio last year. It was a little outfit and an open carrier (included two other vehicles that were both new and well over $100,000 MSRP), but the young man did a great job and knew his business. I'd recommend the route that @explorerx4 took.

I mean, if you're not going to haul it yourself, which is obviously the most adventurous way to go!

Not sure about spam attacks, but my separate Brave browser that I use for signing into Edmunds kept getting refused--a 403 error. No server available. I could sign onto Edmunds with Chrome and Firefox along with Chrome on my phone or Opera, whichever.

I deleted the browser page and made a new one and it works.

Is this connected to the spamming?

Likely. We had some blockers in for new accounts that had to be responded to.. to slow down the spammers.

I had a problem a few months ago logging into a central Ohio car shows listing site only from my PCs. Changing my IP fixed it. I moved my ethernet connector to the other Eero slot, which changed the IP, as advised by the Metronet tech. My IP was blocked.

Found these as demos at an audio store in Dayton. About 40% off. Magnepan Planar Speakers. These are quite unconventional, but given a good electronics and proper set up sound amazing!

Anytime you use an IP that possibly routes the traffic out of the country, you have a possibility of being blocked on this website

My Dad had those, @graphicguy - incredible sound, but very finicky sound wise in terms of positioning, IIRC.

My early impression is that any first contact I make will be a broker and I’m not sure how much say I will have in choosing the actual shipper. Not that I have gone that deep given that I just accepted the job offer this week and the move is a month out yet.

Still trying to figure out where in the metro I might end up. Office will be in River North.

You should get many quotes. I think if you wait a bitafter your initial request, you might lower quotes from the same shippers.

Their two tall wide black thingies on the far side of the equipment.

Not speakers with drivers. Sound is produced by sending current through a series of wires that vibrate in both directions to make sound!

Not quite recovered enough to get them loaded and in my house. So, one of the people there offered to drop them off to me. I guess he works in the Dayton store (where they were demos) but lives about 15 minutes from me. Nice guy!
