    interior looks and smells new
    I'm kinda o/c about a car

That truck is BEAUTIFUL, holy cow, we NEVER expected such a nice truck.

I walked all around it and found ONE ding, in the rear bumper, about the size of a dime. Its never hauled anything in the bed, its never towed anything. Looks and smells brand new. Very impressive truck and very beautiful.

Now to cut the Chevy loose......why does that make me sad?

    Darn it!

Anyone want to start another poll? :)

Jolie, congratulations and read the post above mine 100 times!

Oh don't worry, no more new cars!!!!

    BTW, did I do ok?

1999 Dodge Ram 3500, SLT, V10, auto, dually, reg cab, 4x4, red/gray, pwr windows/locks, pwr/heated mirrors, knee deep in tread, looks like an 04 inside and out, 11,500 miles. $16,900

Also, we are going to cut the Chevy loose, there's a description of it up further.....oh heck, here is a description of the brat.

1994 Chevy K3500, 6.5L TD, manual trans, 150k, 4x4, green/tan, tires 50%, reg cab/long bed in fair shape for its age/miles. Over $5k in recent mechanical work, runs really good, 4WD is iffy at best (going to fix that this week) and it leaks a little. Bottom of the bed is hammered, has a piece of plywood in there for support. Would like to see $5k to $6.5k out of it......think its possible? Or am I dreaming??

That Dodge is a brute and not too shabby on gas, actually surprised us.
  • akanglakangl Member Posts: 3,282
I'm very happy with my Explorer, so unless someone clobbers it and totals it I can't see me needing a new car any time soon.

Hubby is thrilled with the Dodge, it will do everything he needs and he should be good for at least a couple years.

No need to start a new pool, lol, nobody would win anything.

As of yesterday I've had my Explorer for 4 months and have put 12k on it.

Ok, we own a '03 Volvo XC90. 2.7, AWD, NO 3rd row seat. We have the premium (or preferred?) package which includes the upgraded radio and changer, heated seats, etc. We have the upgraded 17" wheels. Essentially, a nicely equipped 2.7 without the Versatility or NAV. 12,500 miles.

We've outgrown it in a short time. We are looking at snatching up an '03 Sequioa, as it looks like we can get a decent deal on an SR5.

What should we expect as a trade-in? I know it's real early on these vehicles, so not sure what I should do. Any help would be fabulous! Thanks.

    What the heck is a 2.7? its either a 2.5T or a T6 (which is a 2.9, btw).

    .... Which one should go? by steine13 Nov 11, 2003 (10:54 pm)
    Terry,

Buddy of mine is considering ditching one of these in favor of an AWD Sienna. Both in mid-MI and owned by non-smoking sane people. Relatively.

2000 Accord EX V6 (auto, of course)
52,000 miles; silver over *tan cloth*; no nav
new tires in frt; rears are fair-to-middling.
no accidents, no paint work, no dogs ~~~ Cloth ...? sounds like an *LX-V6, probably no slider, if there is a slider it's probably an aftermarket, miles are a little tall .. trade side, in and around the mid to high $9's, might get someone to trip over it and hit $10ish, down Retail Rd, "asking" $12,9 and wave goodbye at $11,0/$12,5 ... it's in that tuff price area ..

Now for something a little different:
    2002 Tundra SR5 V8 4x4 regular cab
10k miles; bought maybe 15 months ago.
pwr equipment, cruise, all the normal stuff; 16" wheels. It's burgundy ("sunfire red"), with nice matching $1500 'glass topper. Limited-slip diff in back.

It's in really nice shape -- except it has a 'kiss' in the rr qpanel/outside of the bed. $470 estimate, no big deal, but I thought I'd mention it... let's assume it's been done by a 1st-rate shop. ~~~ did I see an auto in there someplace ...? .. V8 whoa - sounds like a nice truck and kinda rare, no miles, right color, reg cab eh' a little soft, topper, we have a $500 kiss .. this will all depend on the dealer, trade side in and around the $15's, "might" find a Yota dealer that would do the $16's depending on the kiss ... down Retail Rd, $19,9 "asking" and $18/$19,5 get's a new home ..

                        Terry.

*Vielen Dank in advance ~~~ ...? *is that German for Dunkin' Donuts .?

...... What's with this crazy color thing going on, plus I have to scroll left to right to read the posts .. it's like a bad day in a crack house, I need to sandblast my screen ..

                        Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... It's kinda tuff to put a real number on this one .. no miles it's got 11k, it's an SLT reg cab, it a *V10 dually, not too many V10 4x4 dually's out there, probably 600 in the entire country .. I'm going to guess the dealer might have had the $12/$13ish range in it, could have had the $14's in it to make a deal .. hey, try to shop 11k .l.o.l.. .. Sooo, take it from there.

On the Chevy, what can I say .. put it up for sale, ask $5,9/$6,9 and go from there .. that Alaskan market, especially with winter coming should produce some results I would think.

               But anyway, good luck ...

                         Terry.

.... I'm going to bed, I can't read through all this dust and haze ..
  • steine13steine13 Member Posts: 2,825
As near as I can tell in the "haze", you answered my questions, Thank You.

The Accord IS an LX cloth no slider; I had to beat the correct info out of him.

The Tundra; of COURSE it's an auto, they're all autos with the V8, plus around this lazy part of the country, I've never, I mean never, seen a Tundra with a stick. Not on the lot, not in the paper, nothing... grumble..

The way you wrote it, I'm now not sure if the $$ is with the kiss there or with the kiss fixed, but at $500, it ain't no big deal; clearly the thing to do is fix it first... so I answered my question, the $$ is with the kiss fixed.

In a "lesson learned" sorta way, I think that $5 depreciation in 18 month (paid $24 before TTL, get $19 on the street) is quite a bit for a 4x4 truck... but it's a reg cab ("Eh" -- I like that) and I'm thinking if he'd'a bought the XCab, the extra money would have been an investment... I see '01s advertised North of $20, and another friend just bought a new '03 for $27 with all the stuff. These are really nice trucks. I'm not into that, but what an impressive ride/tightness/power train...

    \ramble off
Time to make tea and wake up.

I called the cable company this A.M. and they stated it is a problem from the source (Edmunds).Everything else I go to on the internet is AOK.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
....... That's with it fixed, and yes you could order it in a handshaker .. Xcab's are always worth the extra monies unless your going to keep it for an heirloom ..

  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
    ...... $14,5 with 45k .... ?

Tell him to keep it, the miles kill it .. it's a $11,0 vehicle on the push and with all those miles $13,0 would be a Gift ...!

                          Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... These have to be "jam-up" puuurffect to get any monies, the top has be like new and the interior has to be hovered in, no paint work, no K-Mart kisses .. no help in the no-sale green dept in FL, miles are ho-hum and the handshaker is not your friend here ...

Trade side, in and around the mid to high $14's, could stroll towards $15ish if it's like new, glows in the dark and needs -0- ...

                         Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
....... $15,7 ...? .. could be worse, it could be $14,7 .. it seems you got a great deal on the new one and yes, there is regional ad fee's in your area of the country ..

Im trying to trade in my C280 1998 with 5300 miles - excellent condition - leather - CD changer, telephone- moonroof - they are only trying to give 12,000. - blue book value way too low = 11,500 but edmunds and NADA give me more value to it.
    any comments?
    thanks

You'll need to give Terry color, where you are, and service history (i.e. all done, is it documented, etc.)
  • akanglakangl Member Posts: 3,282
You are right on shopping the truck, ha, ain't another one like it. They had $15,400 in it and wouldn't take less than a $1500 deal, thus the $16,900 price. After looking at what else was available in 1999 Rams this one was the cheapest we found, most had 60/70/80k on them and were running in the $18,9 catagory.

The Chevy is going on consignment (hopefully) as soon as it gets back out of the shop. I talked to a dealer friend and he is willing to stick it there and sell it for me. I told him if I get $5k in my hand I'm happy, but heck, I'd be happy with $4k too. Ok, I'd be happy if it just didn't come home again.

Talk about a bad idea, wowza!! I should be slapped for what I spent on that Chevy.

I'm off to visit a car lot next week.......hehehe, only to consign the Chevy though. I don't want to buy anything else, all I want to do is sell the Chevy and pay off the Explorer, can only handle one car payment at a time.....2 gets me all nervous.

uhhh... i have a car I'd like to trade. Its got 4 wheels and 4 doors. Any idea what its worth?

ok, sorry, don't mean to be mean or anything, but give up the info, lawrence. Stick? auto? leather? moonroof? area of the country? And what is normal wear? I know some folks who would think one parking lot ding is excessive wear.

I'm gonna drop it off at a guy's lot that I know. Have worked with all of them there before when I sold cars, good people.

Well, hopefully drop it off there, he may not want it after he sees it. I dunno. If not, I'll advertise it, but yeah its a pain living so far out, nobody wants to drive to look at a vehicle and I am sure not wanting to drive it to Fairbanks. Did that yesterday and it scared me to death.

Need trade-in, retail on this one for my folks:

1999 Chrysler 300M, medium red/charcoal leather, no chrome wheels, slider, 44,000 miles, no love affairs with shopping carts, no left-over frys between the seats. :) Car is located in Kentucky. Been very well taken care of.

    Always appreciate your help.

You have a 12 year old rather rough looking Accord. I would almost bet there is rust starting under the rear fenders that has not gone through, even for a Florida car. In the salt belt, the rust through would have started about 2 years ago unless it was liberally rust coated every year.

If the paint were nice and shiny, ALL maintenance records available (fluid replacements a couple of times), on the asking side $4500ish. As she sits she is a $3,000 tops private party sale all day long. BTW $1500ish on trade is ALL the money, any dealer wanting to resell it after trade-in would probably have the paint problem fixed.

Terry, gbrozen over on an Acura board suggested I run this by you: I was going to buy a 2004 TL with Nav this evening. My local dealer offered me $18,500 for my 2001 TL with chrome wheels and 35,500 miles. Kelly Blue Book lists trade-in value (default + premium wheels) at $19,200. What do you think?

    2001 S500 by poncekim Nov 11, 2003 (7:46 pm)
Hello. My parents have a 2001 S500 coming off a 36 month lease in a week. Question is buy or give back. Here are the details.

Southern California, 24,500 miles, Black/black, Overall excellent condition. Car has been kept in garage entire time. No accidents.

            ________

The miles are low, color is "eh'" .. if it's "jam up" and jelly tight .. no swirls, no paint by numbers, no I ran it through the $5.00 car wash 25 times, service 110% .. just a Stand Tall Benz, then trade side in your area, could "might" see the $48's, maybe with the reflection of the moon and when it's in the right phase it could touch $49ish, but it better be puurfect and need absolutely -0- ... down Retail Rd, $57,9 "asking" and grab the first "real" deal at $54/$57 ...

Just a little advice, I know it says Benz, but there is alot of Competitation out there in that price range (and lower), so park the ego at sale time ...

Good luck and let me know ...

                          Terry.

    Terry,

Would greatly appreciate your advise. Been negotiating with L.I. NY Acura dealer for purchase of demo 03 Acura MDX touring w/nav ( silver/ebony)with under 4000 miles. Dealer offered me $13000-$13500 for trade-in of my 99 Acura 3.2TL w/nav, deep emerald green, 33850 miles and with Lo Jack. The car is in good condition with a few small dings ( only reason you can see them now is because I had the car waxed and polished).

HID lights were stolen 4 months ago,so had to have body work done (new hood and fender plus body shop painted passenger side to repair minor scratches..guy did me a favor). Dealer asked about paint and new hood so I told him what happened. Anyway, the point is do you think I getting enough for my trade-in or should I try to get another $400 out of him? Please let me know what you think. I would appreciate any input given. Thanks.

.... **HID lights were stolen 4 months ago,so had to have body work done**

Whoa, that a new one on me .. their stealing HID's nowadays ..? .. these are nice vehicles, but $13/$13,5 seems to be the going rate, if you can get an Xtra few bucks, have at it .. but Nav's don't bring much, it's no-sale green, we have paintwork and the miles are low, seems about right .. what did you pay for this new, $26/$27ish.? .. not a bad return for a junky 6yr old [non-permissible content removed] car that the Bimmer/Benz fans make fun of ..... :)

                          Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
    ...... $18,500 ...?

Obviously the dealer wants your business and is working hard to get it .. if you can get $18,5, grab it.! .. That's A L L the peso's and then some .. he must be a brave Hiawatha .....

                           Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
......... LX with auto, 90k, everything works, no stutter in the windows, cold breeze, newish rubber .. if it runs like a champ and it looks, drives and feels like a 40k 98 .. then trade side, in and around that $2,5ish zipcode .. down Retail Rd, someone could ask $4,900 here in FL (with no rust) and see $3,9/$4,5 ... if it needs stuff, start deducting.

....... Great description ...! thanks .. ! will you have my baby ..?

02 V8 4WD, no cows, no slider, 17k, F pack, *when hitching the trailer* - what trailer, what were you towing.? good color for the area, has a few lumps and bumps, the V8 and the miles should save this .. trade side, in and around the low/mid $16's, "could" maybe creep towards $17 if it's a nice one ...

               How about those Ravens ..?

                           Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... It better be an auto .. clean, a Granny kiss here and there don't mean much, deep sneakers, service is 100%, looks and feels like 50k and needs Zero ... trade side, in and around the $5's, could get close to $6ish if it's a "baby doll", if it needs stuff start deducting .. remember, it's a 100k+ Prelude, not a Patek Philippe .... ;)

                                 Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... Oooh, sounds like an nice one .. right color, no miles, we have the package ~ the little kiss doesn't excite me, can you put it a little closer to your computer screen so I can see it ... these still do some large monies.

"Let's say" the work was done by Picasso Pete, a great job, no bolts turned, no overspray, no slash in the sun .. trade side, will see all of $21, probably more towards the $22 figure if that touch job is perfect .. these are still Very popular, the New ones leave most folks buying Camry's or Acura's ... down Retail Rd, great ad, super detail and "asking" $25,9 and it could be history in 5 days for $24,5/$25,5 .... 17k.? - can't get em', can't find em' .....

                                  Terry.
