I'm thinkin' $12,0 would be just about all of it, it's those darn miles ...

A local dealer in Metro Atlanta has the following 2003 FX35 with 8K miles, in Liquid Copper, and the following options, for $38915. I would like to offer them $35K for it.
I would aslo be trading in a no-sell Green 2WD '04 Toy Sequoia SR5 (2.5K miles) with leather, roof rails, running boards, dual air, alloy wheels, 3rd row seats, dual power seats, driver side lumbar support, homelink, tinted glass, towing package, cargo cover, carpeted matts, 2 tone paint and fog lights, keyless entry, cruise and JBL sound audio system with 6 CD changer & speakers. ===== 2,500 miles, color is kinda ok, 2wd .. trade side, probably in and around that $32ish figure
Do I sound like I am smoking something? === if your are, then blow some this way ..
What should I expect on the trade?
If that helps they are offering brand new 2003 FX35, equipped without Navi & DVD, for $500 below invoice. I hope I have not previuosly used my 'allocated' questions with you yet so you can provide your expertise again. thank u. Is it your auction day, today?

I've been trying to buy an used
2002 Impala recently. while I found that at either kbb or edmunds, the trade-in or private party price for a 2002 impala is much higher than that of a 2002 used buick century or chevy Malibu, but all these 3 models have similiar new car price when choosing similiar options because impala has more rebates than malibu¢ury now.
At my local dealer(San antonio, TX) the malibu is being sold at even higher price than impala now.
For an 2002 impala 3.4L 63K mi
power everything, auto , CD, cruise, ABS with good condition has trade-in price at kbb around $7800 but a used century or malibu or taurus with same options have trade-in price only around $5500.
there must be a reason, is Impala far better rated car than century or malibu so to have higher user-car price? then why 2004 impala is cheaper than 04 malibu now?
I am looking forward to your guys' opinion, thank you :-)
2000 Audi A8. Regular wheel base. 66k miles. Clean title, no incidents. Looks about as good as a 4 year old luxury car with 66k on it can. Relatively new treads, can throw in pair of winter sneakers if that makes any difference (about halfway through their life).
NAV, xenon, 17 inch wheels (1k original option), front and rear heated seats, parking assist. Black on black, obviously quattro. Reside in NJ.
Thanks!
4 cyl,
reg cab,
short bed.
213,000 miles,
5 speed,
31" tires that will soon need to be replaced,
Driver's side window won't move up or down, no AC (broken I guess), and he's lost the rear bumper.
No rust to speak of and the interior is OK (kind of musty).
The seller is asking for $2600, I was thinking of offering $1300 if I offer anything. What sounds fair to you, fellow Chief fan?
Thanks in advance for you help!
PS: Gunther is back.....Merry X-mas for me! hoo-ray!!!
Kevin called and said he was in trouble......I guess he came around a curve on the logging road with the Dodge and turned the wheels but the truck went straight.......over an embankment.
$255 later the truck was out of the ditch (thanks to a very wonderful wrecker driver) and all is well again. The truck came so close to rolling it wasn't even funny, the wrecker driver thought it was going to go over when he pulled on it. Thankfully it did not and other than a few scratches and a couple small dings the truck is fine.
So, I spent my day driving back and forth, never did get the Explorer fixed, drove about 300 miles today instead.
I leased the car as a certified pre-owned (CPO) car in 2000. It had 19988 miles on it, and it was in flawless condition. I had a 4yr/12000 mile/yr lease and I planned on keeping it as I was well under the mileage at first. Then I changed jobs and, well you know the rest.

Seriously, he said the old one began rusting so he just took it off. Around here, it's difficult to find 4x4's in working order for under $2k, come to think of it, I have yet to see one.
I may just end up putting a new tranny into my dad's 94 Ranger XLT supercab with a 4.0L and 4WD and driving that around for a year or so.
To be honest, I am going through various scenarios, schemes if you will, to get me butt back into a Miata......man I miss that car!!! ***sigh****
That said, I do lots of woodworking, furniture, etc. and I need something to haul stuff with and get me around in winter time when my future Miata is worthless w/o winter tires which I won't invest in (don't want some SUV to slide into my tiny roadster).
My gut tells me to pass, but I only need it to go for a year or so....
Impala, especially the loaded up LS's have been doing real well, they sell fast and folks like the size and the value .. Centurys (which is my personal favorite) still have had the same style for 8/9 years, so it's market change, lot's of them around, stuff like that ...

What are these doing at auction:
SL's, Premium Package (no Nav or DVD), 2WD, 15K miles.
Just wondering if it makes sense to look at a used one, or to go with a 2004 as I can take advantage of the Nissan Vendor Program, and get the car at slighly under invoice. Although, I should maybe not use the program since after reading some of the Murano boards, people are getting the cars for $1k under invoice even though there are no rebates or dealer cash. Go figure that one.

I have read some of the same posts, I'm not aware of any incentives that has happened in the last 90 days, and that's when they would have needed them the most (that doesn't mean they haven't been out there) ...
I think you will find that type of post on all vehicles ~ when the Mini's first came out, people were posting how they paid $1,500/$2,000 back of invoice, dealers gave them free vacations to Australia, free Rolling Stones tickets and a Limo and a hotel for a week ... but the reality was, those things "were" so hot at the time that Chevy dealers were buying them at the auctions and moving their Vette's off the front line and putting them on drive-ups and selling them in 2 days .. so I really take alot of that type of information as Troll Bait, if ya know what I mean ...

The first time he ended up in the ER, a tree fell on him. So, this time was relatively minor. He does this logging thing for fun......as the wrecker driver put it......"you loggers are nuts", but of course the wrecker driver should know, he's a logger too.
We are going to buy some winter tires for that big Dodge, that should solve the problem, should have bought them before, we'd be money ahead.
I've decided that its silly to try and save money by not buying winter tires for his truck, $1000 is money well spent, so it will get the tires as soon as we can get it to the tire shop. We just spent $650 on winter tires for my Explorer, makes a world of difference.
I'm just glad the truck didn't roll over, I would have hated to have to go truck shopping again.

I actually just saw an S-10 pickup here in Jersey for like $1200 and its only got 84K miles. Was pondering that one for myself. It was a stick and, I believe, no 4x4, though.

(1) What's an 02 GTI VW GOLF worth? (black, manual, 67k); both Trade in and Private; note it will need tires and brakes soon so maybe better for dealer to take.
(2) Also what can I get an 01 blue 325I stick shift (hard to find used and new here but maybe its cuz no one wants them), loaded with 23k miles on it for? (i.e. what are the going at auction and how much markup should I pay over this)
This is in Los Angeles....
Thanks
There are plenty of 4X2 pickups in the 1k range, just not 4x4.
I'm still considering getting a full size newer pick-up and dumping my Matrix. I've only had the Matrix since November so I'm quite buried in it so that is why I've been considering cheaper trucks....search continues.
Maybe I'll call me Dad about his Ranger that has been sitting idly for 6 months. I talked him into retiring it and getting a 2000 CR-V for his rural mail car. He thought he'd keep the beat up Ranger as a back up. Of course, he hasn't needed it yet. That CR-V is tougher than it looks!

Terry, with the USPS feeling the urge to compete with UPS and FedEX these days, they are delivering tons more parcels (packages) than they did 5-10 years ago....I don't think a Mazda compact hatchback would carry the load around here.
Color is great for the area, miles are ultra tall and these have to be "jam-up" and "jelly tight" to grab any money, service has to be 120%, no swirl o'matic car washes, no American fry invasions, no I practiced botany in the seats, deep rubber, no repaints .. trade side, in and around the $17/$18 range, the miles are slapping ya right upside your head ..
Terry.
hey, what can i say, football ain't exactly my thang. neither is geography for that matter.
yer right. i just searched yahoo classifieds for any toyota, mazda, or chevy pickups within a 200 mile range within MO and found a whole lotta nothing.
ya know, a few bags of cement and some snow tires on a 4x2 can get around quite well in wintertime. Bad conditions with 4x4 just means you spin 4 tires instead of 2.

Another bloke in the paper has a 1991 Mazda B2200 5-speed with 140k. He wants $1500 or so I think. I may take a look at it anyway. When I was 15 and just learning to drive, my Dad took me out in an 86 Toyota 4x2 with a 4 speed manual(another mail truck) and had me drive up hills in the snow...I managed it with some time.

Yes, they are classified as full sized cars by the EPA. It is a stretched and widened W body.
I almost bought one of these in '90, but got a Nissan instead. Lots more power in the Nissan, but the mazda drove nice and had a nicer cab.
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
As long as it's more or less rust free, that truck will last forever. My dad took two past 200k miles, and it was New England road salt, not mechanical failures, that did them both in.
On the FX, which he is asking for $38.9K. They said they took in on a trade. The lowest they will go is $38K, and my offer is at $35K. I really do not want to pay anymore than $35.5K. What should I do? Playing the waiting game may hurt me from the trade-in end. Their FX hasn't been listed for more than a week. I love the FX.
Thank you so much for your numbers on trade ins for my VW's. As expected, I am selling them outright

Here is why I need your help. I recently went to a chevrolet dealer looking into tading in my expedition for a 2001 Toyota Sequoia SR5 w/50k, leather, bla bla bla. They are asking $23,400 and are not moving. They told me that all they could do with my trade was $7800! Needless to say, I walked away, after hearing from them that they cannot offer me more. They even suggested for me to sell it to carmax and then come back to buy their car. What say you on their trade in offer?
Thanks for you help, you are a great asset to edmunds!
I may call the guy and take a look at it.
Then again, I may end up fixing up my Dad's old Ranger if he'll let me use it. Bad transmission. But for the cost of a new transmission, I could either have a 94 4x4 w/ supercab and automatic or buy this guy's 91 Mazda w/ 4x2 and 5-speed.....hmmmm decisions, decisions.....

When I was a kid in the 60's, it was easier for middle class to do so, but then cars only lost $500 the 1st year, instead of $5000-10000.
Besides with all of these exciting Peyton Place stories of "Aka", it sure keeps them yacking: Aka hit's a moose, moose hit's Aka back, hubby beats up a logger, logger pushes hubby off cliff, Aka buys a purple truck, then hit's an oil pipeline and almost blows up Anchorage, then trades it in 2 days later .. it just keeps ya at the end of your seat, don't it.?
