There probably isn't any law requiring you to disclose the damage but could you not in good conscience? If the shoe were on the other foot would you scream and yell if you found out later?
Besides a good used car manager will spot it.
I am considering either trading in or selling my firecracker red exterior, beige interior 2001 Honda Accord EX V6 4 door with about 86,000 miles. As you may already know, the EX is loaded with power sunroof, leather, 6 CD in-dash changer, alloys, etc... It is overall in good condition with a few small door dings and original paint. It has never been in an accident and has been well maintained (oil changes every 3,000 - 4,000 miles). The brakes and tires have been replaced within the past year and a half with Honda parts, and Michellin tires identical to the original ones. The car has never been smoked in.
Edmunds says trade in value should be about $10,500. If I were to bring it to an Acura dealer to trade on a new MDX, is that a realistic value?
I'll only spring for this if the planets align and everything is perfect.

All Maintenance done at Chrysler dealer
Other: Warranty repaint by Chrysler due to bad original paint quality. It was also rear-ended which meant a new bumper and tailgate sheet metal. The rear window was intact along with the tail lights so it wasn't a bad hit but it was a hit.
This was one of the first Pacificas that came with loads of stuff right out of the door. It does not have the sunroof or chrome wheels or DVD/Nav but it has everything else.
I was offered $21,000 in May of 2004 but I just couldn't stomach turning it in for a lesser car and being ~4K under.
I will be turning the vehicle in some time in the summer (I'm in Iraq right now) but I really don't want to lose too much on it. My wife dislikes the blind spots and they are so bad, in her view, that the car must go.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Brakes-New brakes and rotors. Replaced under warranty when I complained of a rubbing noise. Rubbing noise turned out to be something else entirely. Proof of the power of complaining LOUDLY in the dealers service area.
Maintenance-All maintenance performed at dealership at all scheduled maint. intervals, oil changes every 3000, Two recalls taken care of.
Other: prior damage: Wife backed into a neighbors car, hit their tire. Caused the flexible bumper covering to dent in. I popped it out easily, but it caused a palm size area of paint to come off. The van is that real dark blue and the underlying material is black. No one has ever noticed it. Real hard to see and it has never grown or rusted or worsened.
No insurance claims, no repaints.

I was driving a LS430 and somebody "tapped" my rear bumper in a parking lot and they put a "baby scratch" on it, it was nothin', you could hardly see it at a 3:00pm shadow, my body guy fixed it for $250 and it was puuurffect .. but in Florida we had to file a police report, which means it hit Carsmack and I had some nutcase offer me $5,000 less because "he" could see the paint work on the hood ... so, I sent him to my Opthamologist and sold the car to somebody else ........................... :shades:

You just answered your own question .. these are great little vehicles, I've seen Miata's with 220,000 miles and still blowing cold air and still running like a top ... think about it, they been building this little hummer for 18 years and it's "still" hard to find a market competitor ........

The exterior is a different story... it's a bit beat up. There is a credit-card sized dent on the front passenger fender and the paint there is cracked. Front bumper looks like it had a few Wal-Mart kisses. The paint is glossy everywhere but there has been a lot of touched up spots (maybe 20, size of dimes).
A number for private party would be great.

Yep, sounds like a great vehicle for Retail Rd ..... well, I would get with a great detail guy and try to get that "Drive by shooting" look down to a minimum because the color will show everything, the miles are low for the year, the service is kinda okay, we have newer stoppers and round things .. a dealer might drop $1,5/$1,800 because of the low miles, maybe ....
No leaks, cold breeze and everything works.? .. then in the land of Aaarnold, a super nice Ad, a glorious detail, all the service records glued to the dash, $4,900 *asking* and send that dudette south for $3,5/$4,500 .... in your area of the country they don't know what the words "low miles" mean, so it should sell fast if it cleans up nice and shows a good history .......

I'm considering selling my 2000 Yukon and would like to know the real market value. It's been an awesome truck; I purchased it new, and it still looks and runs like new.

FYI when you say tires 50% worn. Do you mean 50% between new and bald? Or actually 50% worn? Legal limit is 5/32 and new is usually 11/32, so 50% worn is really a tread depth of 8/32.
That was my response. You can get a lot more car for that kind of money. I was thinking $4500 MAX if I was in the market and ONLY because of the low mileage.
As for the tires, I assume that **any** car that I buy will need new shoes before the next winter ... Pep Boys 50k tires $160 a set would be the cost. I have been the "victim" of too many dealership polished tires ... My tires get changes every two years regardless of tread depth ... keeping them longer is peeny wise and pound foolish to me.

Options - Power moonroof, Factory Navigation system, Tinted Windows, Side Airbags, Factory keyless entry. 4 wheel disc ABS is standard as are the 16 inch alloys. Tires are about 50%. All service has been done (3 month oil changes with Mobil 1, never hit miles) and I have the paperwork in the glovebox. Interior is hovered in. Exterior has one ding driver side front quarter panel (I miss having a Saturn). Front lip is a little scuffed, though it can only be seen if you're under the car. I had one door ding near the drivers door egde that required painting the entire side of the car. It was done at Service King (major repair chain in DFW) when the car was just one month old. I didn't pay for it, the idiot who dinged me did. Everything else is fine. It has been garaged whenever not in use (which is often given the low miles). I'd like the retail row and trade in. I know the 6 speed will hold it back, but it's the only way they come now. I've had it at three dealers. And of course 3 different prices. I have had between $11.5K- $14K. The car really is spotless save the door ding. You could eat off the engine. I am thinking $13K is reasonable....what say you? :shades:

**I'm looking at purchasing from a Military Volvo dealer. This is a 04 Demo S80 T6 Premier. Good Condition with minor cosmetic fixes.... The dealer is asking $40,000. This is the 'out the door' price. Tax, tag, title... everything. The car rides nice, plenty of pick up and go.... All the bells & whistle's, minus the fridge & rear door sun blinds. & AWD. Is this a good deal?? Seems a little high to me... but I'm not familiar with the car. How are the 04's? Are they prone to pricey repairs or average?

In what state? I thought it was 2/32" in most states. If I see a used car with 8/32", I consider them to be recently replaced (10-20,000 miles ago)... Although I also replace them well before they hit the 2/32" wear bars.
Granted if you get caught, which usually only happens if you crash or slide off the road (or you live in the same county as Rosco P. Coaltrain), you have 90 days to correct the mechanical citation.
3/32 is the minimum for dry road driving.

Well, lets see here ... great, we're off to good start on this one - it's a Saab .. and not only is it a Saab, but it's a Saab convert SE (still my heart) and it's sitting in the suicide capital of the USA -- hey, your right down the street from Isell, maybe he can talk you into a Honda .l.o.l. ... miles are waaaay low, we got that no-sale green thing going on, but the tan guts help, we got the cold pack and we have some wear and tear for being 9 years old, but it "sounds" non-critical, a bump here, a dent there, a few little kisses - hey, it's a 98 ......
If the history is clean, cold breeze, no Maaco, no I hit the neighbors brick mailbox coming back from my buddys bachelor party, deep sneakers and the service is 110% ... then the dealer might have dropped the tall $7's, maybe he got crazy and dropped the low/mid $8's, add a this and a that and it probably hits the table in the Tall $8's .... I'm thinkin' $10,5/$10,9 would be all the candy in the candy store ........ whats he asking..?

I test drove a car with those Pepboys tires 4 for $200, and it was a deathtrap. It was the worst handling vehicle I've ever driven with radial tires - even in a neighborhood going about 40 it was all over the place, no tread stability. Drove another with Michelins and it was incredbile, completely different. Only my '65 nova with 13" rims and bias ply tires was worse, and my diesel tempo was close to this.
Advice is real tires make a huge difference and are a safety feature.
I see no handling differences between the 60k Futuras and the 50k mile Goodyear tires that I was using before. And they handle better in snow.

Generally, low mileage is a good thing. However, a 12 or 13 year old car with only 8k miles may not be a great bargain.
At a minimum, you'll probably replace a good deal of the rubber due to dry rot.
Do remember that a lot of parts deteriorate as much from time as they do from daily use.
Proceed slowly.
Don't pay too much over NADA. You'll never, ever get the difference back. Imagine if it were totaled.
I'll just start it off by saying that this is probably one of those cars that you just need to throw the books away on. Extreme differences in accepted mileage like this make a HUGE difference that the standard books just can't compensate for.
I do think $12,5K is nuts. I mean, the car is still (i'll try to use Terry years here) 14 years old. (did i get that right?) And sitting under a cover is not the best thing in the world for a vehicle. You'll still need to do alot of repairing and replacing. heck, I'd be worried that all the engine gaskets are going to blow out the first time you take it on the highway. (EDIT: oops. bender & jlawrence beat me to the punch.

That said, if you really like the car and it really is that nice then go ahead and pay a premium. Maybe $8k? Just don't be surprised if it ends up needing a bit more work than you planned. I loved my SE-R, put 25k miles on it, and still sold it for more than I paid because it still had low miles.

The car is old.. no matter how low the miles.. You can't compare it to, say... a '99 with the same miles..
But, it is a relatively desirable car.. I'd compare it to a low-mileage Acura Legend.. (which is easy, because I have one)..
My guess is that someone will pay $7500-$8000 for the car.. If the car has been driven semi-regularly (meaning 10-15 miles every week or so), then the rubber should be in just as good a shape as any other '93 with original rubber (which may not be that good).
If this seller is asking $12,500, you probably aren't going to be able to buy it from him at a reasonable price.. It is obvious that he has no problem hanging on to a car that he doesn't really need.

Also, I'd avoid a Prelude S for a new driver. It's a bit much for a 15-16 YO to handle IMHO.

The sportwagon is still sitting on the lot, but they lowered the price to $29,990. There isn't any warranty left on it though. Is this looking like a steal yet? I have a feeling they are anxious to move it. Any thoughts?
