Ah, OK. I did not know that. Hmmm... I'm not sure how I would word that in that case. Not many shoppers would know there was a known defect, so I think alot of folks would think like me and say "geez. a new top already? this must not have been taken care of."
Maybe "Factory softtop replaced with better quality aftermarket" ... ??? I dunno. I'm just guessing here.

Agreed.. no such thing as a firm price. If that is really your firm price, then price it $500 higher, and let them bargain.
Also.. all of the little extras.. CAI, shift-boots, etc... Leave those for when you show the car. In person, it might look like you are obsessive about your car's appearance, etc.. (and that's a good thing). But, in the ad, it looks like you might like to modify your car.. and that will scare people off.

Who woulda thunk the numbers could be so dismal on a Toyota product?
I doubt it would be any better on a Caliber, Focus, Civic, etc.
Defer payments for 90 days, 6 year loan, high interest, this is a worse-case scenario basically.
If she needs a bigger car she should seriously consider getting a used or CPO car until she's no longer upside down. She should not buy new under any circumstances!

Yes - It is a carfax money back guarentee. By the way, GOOD NEWS!! I don't have to sell it anymore - I am out of the emotional tight corner I was in. Pricing isn't too bad if the truck is really clean. You could ask $10995, take $9,500--$10,000. That's about all there is. If there are dents, problems, etc., deduct accordingly.
Vehicles are just like real estate. If overpriced, no sale is likely. If on the mark, it will go.
Craigslist is a strange animal because so many of the vehicles offered are on their last legs. Tons of high mileage cars with normal mileage pricing that get relisted again and again. Never have understood why the "books" are so low on how much should be deducted for high mileage.
A nice vehicle with a fair price will go fast on CL - same with cheapos that still have some life in them.
Mileage deducts should be "weighted" IMO. After 100,000 miles, each mile should cost double; after 150K triple and after 225K, the car should be essentially sold at scrap value.
Well, the low mile automatics are going thru Manheim in the $18-19000 range. Which is pretty much book. Figure $1000 hit for the manual, so the car should bring $17000 trade. Figure low $20's retail.
I'm trading this: 02 Senta GXE 5spd, silver, 54K miles pw, pdl, pm, am/fm/cd Light damage in front (hood and front plastic, but not the fenders)but repaired before I got it...now paint (clearcoat) on hood is peeling Otherwise in good condition
Wanted 07 Yaris base lifback base 5spd, white, 16K miles AC, manual windows/locks/mirrors, rear defogger and wiper
I think you are underestimating most U/C depts. IF you can buy the car at auction for $17,000, then you have say $200 shipping, $500 PAC, $300 Re-con. You are in the car $18,000. Most U/C guys are gonna want to make $3000 on the car, so you put it on the lot for $24,995, and discount from there.
Unmolested, the Sentra is prob a $5000 car. Hood needs a re-paint, which will run $500-800 or so to do it right. Figure the car at $4000, unless it has a bad Carfax, or the rest of the repair is really noticeable.

What do you guys think of this deal in the Kansas City area.
An acquaintance of mine is moving to New York and selling his 2005 Chevy 1500 Silverado 4 WD v6. Dark metallic green/gray interior, 18,000 miles. Power steering and brakes, AM-FM stereo with CD player. Virtually brand new with 10 months warranty left. Automatic, power and air but no power windows or locks. Bought new. Spray on Rhino bed liner. Original 17 inch tires, spare never used and all have plenty of tread.
This is not a fancy truck but it is not a stripped work truck either. Just what I am looking for. $13,500. Good deal?
Most U/C guys are gonna want to make $3000 on the car
what they want and what i should pay are not the same, of course.
with the help of this board, I have consistently paid $1500-$2k over trade-in value on my cars for several years now. That was ~$1800 over on my certified S70, ~$2000 over for my certified LSv8, and ~$1k over on my 350z.

Also, don't use a "firm" price. Would you really let a suitcase of money walk away if it were $150 less than you wanted?
People love to bargain, so don't cut them off from the opportunity.
Last thought--the quote about "needs very little maintenance" is ominous, like you forgot to do something. I read it the wrong way initially.
Also.. all of the little extras.. CAI, shift-boots, etc... Leave those for when you show the car. In person, it might look like you are obsessive about your car's appearance, etc.. It used to be my wife's car.... sold it to a friend of mine a couple of years ago... Now that it's out of warranty, they are dreading repairs..
If they sell it themselves, I'm thinking ask $18,500, and let it go for anything over $17K?
It's a beautiful car... About as loaded as you can get a 325i..
