First I goof on what its worth (I am human.. tho my ex-wife will argue that point...)
Sorry.
Uh Oh. We got a yellow light unit. Unibody damage.
Hmm... this is a toughie.. especially if I pull up the trunk mat and see weld marks.
This is how you scare Bill. That and saying "Bruce Springsteen isnt gonna tour again" or "They're closing the Krystal up the street" (Southern White Castle..)
Oh geez.. you gonna throw a brick at your screen
$15,500 is where I would hit it... And I may be heavy here.
Terry????
Bill
NO miles... Thats good. V6 doesnt help an LE a whole lot really...
Superperfect? It is a good color for these...
$12,500 easily.. closer to $13K wholesale I think.
$14,900 in the paper, Grab $14,500, dont give it away tho.
Bill
OK.. what matters here is, "The difference". They could give you $15K for your car and sell you the Jag for $27,500...
So, the Volvo, as a trade, is worth, $5,000 real $$.. Maybe $5,200..5300...etc.. But $5.500 kills it with a tomahawk.
On to the Jaguar...
They could have $15K in it.. but any more than that and they stupid. It is BRG, which I love, but its a bad color for the car.
Start em at $10K difference, but reality is, $17,000 is what I would tell you to sell that Jag for.
So we have a $12kish difference...
Bill
Just buy me a Beer when yer in Orlando

(i dont want tears in my beer)
TRADE-IN VALUE FOR 98 KIA SEPHIA-
base model-auto-air-casset-28,000 mi
has seen the inside of body shop $4800. worth.
looks and runs great. red color-iowa home.
thanks tom
Ed
Thats REAL cheap.... I could see it doing 32K at the sale.
It either has paintwork all over it, or its a steal.
If its clean and hasnt been smashed.. buy it.
Bill
The Civic? Loaded wqith miles... 5-speed... and its scratched all over the place?
$3,500ish I am afraid...
The Beetle? Who knows... Demo.. Repo.. Factory Exec car. I wouldnt think a rental (Ordinarially what I would guess) because of the TDI and Handshaker combo.
Whats it worth? Tough call.. Loaded up and perfect? Maybe $16K? 15,500... etc..
What are they asking for it? $19,995 I'll bet. What should you shoot for? $17,500..18K.. But keep us posted.
The weird thing is, thats a tough car to call... I'd say it ought to be worth $1,500-$2K back of what you can get a new one for.
Hope this helps!
Bill
Bill
You not gonna like me now
Clean 98 Sephias like yours are worth, actual $$, about $2,500. But yours has had $4,800 in bodywork?
First, hope ya were OK.
Second, its worth about 1,500-1,700-1,800 or so.
Sorry man...
Bill
IT IS WHAT IT IS!!!
I have had a ton of fun reading these posts.
THANKS AGAIN TOM
If it's ALL there .. and if someone has to go on - "The hunt for Red October" it might slip by.. Yeah, $15's and probably happy to get it, to some buyers.
Terry.
All in all, the miles aren't to bad (if your a Fuller Brush salesman) ..and of course, it's a handshaker. Ok .. now what.
Sounds like a $4,5/$5 to me .. IF, it has new sneakers, interior looks 00 and the service has been done.
Terry.
First car: 95 Acura Integra LS/SE, hatch, auto, dark green/tan leather, power roof, factory alloys and cassette. Body very nice, had some minor body work once, but *really* hard to tell. The kicker is it's one owner (older woman) with ~26k miles. Trading on a new Civic sedan (her mother is quite old and has a hard time with the Acura's low seat height).
Second: 96 Buick Regal GS 4-door, burgundy/burgundy leather, dual power seats, factory cassette/CD, dual a/c, all power + roof, alloys, ABS, 3.8 V6, 68k miles, body and interior great except minor paint chipping on front bumper.
Trade and private sale prices on both, please. Thanks again!!
Q
2 of em' Huh ..?
Ok, let's see. This is a SUPER low mileage Integra LS and an SE -- Wow ..!
And to top it off .. it's a auto, sounds like a nice vehicle, it's toyed, color is great for Chi-town.
Not knowing, what the damage was or is ... Let's say it's a fender that got hit by a meteorite, and it's all put back together and looks fine, paint is all ok.
A dealer might only step into this for $8,5/$9 -- This a wonderful retail piece. You know the deal .. Big, fat 5 liner, all the neat stuff listed for $11,900.
People love these vehicles .. I gotta think, that's an easy sale at $10,5/$11 ...
--- Ok, we have a GS .. miles are a little stiff, but not for the year.
It's a Buick 3.8 (the Toyota of the domestics) ... you say it's clean, nice with all the right stuff. (the old body style, and people still love it) .. on the dealer side, $4,0 for sure, $4,5 on the push. -- on the retail side, $6,500 and let someone slap Ya silly at $5,5/$5,7/$6,000 -- it sounds like a nice ol' car.
Well good luck .. and thanks for stopping by ..
Terry.
the used market...with considerably more mileage...my wife fell in love and wants it...its like new....I can't see major diff. from an '02 .auto and heated seats trim, etc...and about $10k in price from what I can gather so far from my research..I should pay about $31.8K....I would welcome comments from those in the know....
Terry.
I just want to see how many people write back on this one ... :-)
Sooo, you have a short box eh' ..? the miles are stiff on this one, but you have some goodies, the V6 and the xtra door saves it -- If the tires are just average, then you are in and around that $2,5/$3 figure ..
Terry.
And if it's as clean as you say it is .. the dealer has probably $28 and change in it with the Star Stuff ..
So your $31,800 is a good offer -- But, start em' up at $30,500 and see what happens -- these baby Benz's are nice and all, but there not like flying off the shelves ...
Terry.
Terry.
A friend asked me this. I thought maybe Cadillac, then No that would continue to depreciate badly even if one bought well after it had 40,000 miles and 3 years added to it's age. So let that be the criterior, 3 years old and 40,000 miles as where we arrive when purchasing the vehicle. And let's say we sell it 2 years later with 70,000 miles on it.
What vehicle/manufacturer would have the best ability to hold value over this period?
Also keep in mind that vehicle would need to also be able to hold itself together and NOT nickel and dime our new owner to frustration. I would think that BMW and Mercedes and Jaguar would qualify for expensive nickels and dimes.
What are your thoughts here on the Europeans?
Let's see an Acura RL? Infiniti Q? Lexus GS 300?
Maybe I had it right in the beginning, an Eldorado?
So after the car is 5 years old and it's time to sell it with 70,000 miles on the clock which vehicle would lose the least amount of cash for our buyer?
Thanks,
Happy Motoring,
Jack
Thanks,
John
wheel; ABS; air bags; stereo cassette; alloy wheels; non smoker; well
maintained; 37K miles.
Thanks for providing all the great help here!!
Erik
$17K tops for the G-20t is exactly what I expected. 20K miles keeps getting higher by the week, so my INFINITI dealer better hurry up w/ that new G35.
Thanks again guys.
David
Terry. :-)
Ok, let me guess ..
It's a LX .. right ..?
The miles are low .. it has some nice goodies, plus ABS and wheels.
So if it's nice, clean, new sneakers and needs -0- (if not, start deducting)..then your lookin' in and around that $5/$5,5 figure.
Terry.
1987 XJ6 S3. Decent shape... OK for age, total repaint but normal on these...
189,000 miles.
$3,400 across the block tonight at Daytona. And I picked up a genuine 80K miler last week in MINT shape for 4,600 and I thought I was stupid there!

I will be trading in my fiance's 2002 Plymouth Neon 4DR LX Sedan with a rear spoiler, Automatic, Anti Lock Brakes, Midnight Blue with $31k miles, excellent condition. What can I expect to get on my trade in. I owe $7,700 and have already negotiated a great deal on a new car.
Thanks alot
Neons don't hold their value well either, so you might be in a little trouble with that one...
Bill
31,000 miles? =O =O
YEOWCH! Its not even March yet!
Well... geez... $5,500? $6,000?
Terry?
Bill
So I guess you can tell that its' had a new rear clip then?
Seriously, not the greatest color, but good merchandise and a nice car. Miles are a itty bit stiff tho.
Even still, I think this is a $17,500-18K car.
$20,950 in the paper, grab $20K.
Although.. where are you located? Lack of cold weather can hurt you in some markets on these..
Bill
Terry.
Wasnt sure on the 02 Neon tho... 32K...
Bill
