Paint Protectant: $390
Mudguards: $189!!!(They don't cost that much.)
Wheel Locks: $95
Those accessories were thrown into the price. So we saved $674! And to think, my mother almost paid for them, I am glad I went with her.
Also, I will NEVER EVER buy a Buick! I don't think so! Too ugly.
When I was your age I talked my mother out of a 67 Mustang and into a 67 Plymouth Valiant with the 225 ci slant six...CU recommended sedan.
Mom kept it for 20 years and we're both alive to talk about it.
You're not sacrificing much in performance and getting a very safe utilitarian vehicle. Plus your insurance premiums are affordable.
My wife won't let me drive the Pilot (enough), so I'm looking to trade our 99 Ody EX for the 03 Accord V6.
And it also confirms the earlier press release report that the V-6 auto is faster (barely, though) than the V-6 auto Altima to 60.
Price including all but taxes...$22,660. Good price?
In Boulder, Colorado
1. Anyone seen the wheels or know where there's a picture of them?
2. What tires get used (some of the car magazine reviews don't seem to like the Michelins on the 16" wheels for the stock EX-V6, so I was wondering if something a little more aggressive comes for the 17" wheels)?
1. Cross Country driving (going where you haven't been)
2. Urban driving (when you hit that inevitable detour or unfamiliar street address, or take a wrong turn)
The Honda version sounds like a nice one, but it is frustrating to wait until 2003 to be able to get one. After all, the Toyota Camry and Nissan Maxima both have them available as options.
not moving real fast out of dealerships. I am surprised to here about so many discounts.

Just a theory, I can't back it up with any data as I have none.
Timing belts are not a big deal. They last for 100+ miles so you will probably only need to change them once. Timing chains also need maintenance.
I know I haven't seen much advertising on the new car. I'd imagine that this first wave of sales are "people in the know" who obsess about cars in places like this...
Bottom line--- I want one! (Or maybe the TSX!)
Luckily my local dealer had about 6 of the new 2003 Accord sedans somewhat out of sight. A few years back I owned a 1999 Accord EX V6 coupe which was sold to purchase a 2001 BMW 325ci coupe. In June, my wife and I welcomed the birth of our first child...and I knew that my coupe drivin' days were numbered. So...before I let the BMW depreciate too much more, I made the very difficult decision to part with it...and I'm still sad.
So, my wife and I both drove a new EX V6 (in Satin Silver)...loved it...and bought it. We paid full sticker (in Northern VA) but the dealer didn't try to add anything to the car. By the way, I've yet to see any others on the road.
The drivetrain is so smooth and powerful. The ride seems a bit choppy over uneven pavement (more so than my BMW with 17" rims and low profile tires) but this may be the low-end Michelin MXV4 tires. The car seems very quiet but I'm torn on whether or not I like the steering feel. It has a lot of heft, but seems to have been designed to want to "return to center". Our Mazda Tribute (wife's car) likes to do the same thing and I always feel like it's fighting with me. I'll get used to it.
I'm still going through BMW withdrawal (sigh) but I think that I'll be happy in the long run. Loading the baby into the Accord is SO much easier!!
I write another review once I've spent a few weeks with the car.

That seems a little on the high side at $519. Does anyone know how it hooks in? Looks like a CD slot on it, with an eject button or something. A lot of car radios come with MP3 built-in, but not the base system, apparently. I wonder if the 6 CD changer that comes with the system can source to the CD player (or the 8 CD changer option). Not a whole lot of detail on them at the web site.
I spoke to the salesperson and he told me that there is a 4 week waiting list for the EX model ( he did say that he has a sold red EX-4 coming in soon so I can see it before I order my own red EX V6 )It looks like November will be the month I get my new Accord, I don't need the navigation system, maybe on the next car, but I will get the MP3 player/ XM Radio/ spoiler/ chrome 16" wheels
Does anyone know who gets the largest inventory of Honda vehicles in the New Jersey/ New York area ?
I think Honda has a winner !
hondacars.com and collegehillshonda.com have conflicting information.
According to the hondacars.com site, they only have one accessory wheel shown, and it is the 16 inch "Multi-Spoke Chrome-Finish Wheel". The 17" does not yet have a picture and says that it is the S6-SE1 design.
The collegehillshonda.com site has several different wheels shown, two are said to be 17" (as I posted above):
17" EM-9RR (has the 9 thin double spokes)
17" S6-SE1 (looks just like the 16 inch "Multi-Spoke Chrome-Finish Wheel from the hondacars.com site...hmmmm, strange!?)
Somebody has it listed incorrectly. I guess we'll find out when hondacars.com shows what the S6-SE1 really looks like.
Wow...the MXV4 tires list for $150?? I did not know that...but I will say that they're getting a little better now that they're breaking in. I've almost put 100 miles on them in 2 days.

P.S. To fredvh...I didn't try out the Camry (too much $ for too little HP) but I did drive the Altima...and did not like it as much as the Accord.
MXV4 tires. I changed tires a few month back, Costco has them at $132 a piece, which also include life time rotation and balance. This is an all season tire and not a performance tire, but has good wet traction and long wear life.
The residuals are unbelievable and the money factors are in the 5 1/4 to 5 1/2 % range, making for an unbelievable deal, particularly if you can get a discount from MSRP.
I picked my Silver EX V6 up today. I absolutely love it. I do have a few minor quality control issues on the interior, including a scratch on the leather armrest, a latch on the storage compartment below the radio that does not work, and a large scratch on the plastic over the instrument cluster. This is my fourth Honda product since 1996, and I have never experienced this before. In fact, I have never been back to the dealer with any of the other cars (1996 and 1999 Integras and an 2001 Accord EX V6 Coupe - I lease, change the oil as suggested, and get rid of them.) However, as early as this car is in the production run, I am going to get this car serviced, as the dealer I bought from will extend the new car warranty to 50k if you service through them (I have a 42 month lease for a total of 52.5k). The total of the recommended services is actually less expensive than purchasing an extended warranty through Hondawarranty.com, so I think it makes sense.
Incidentally, I have put the rear facing baby seat in the back seat anxiously anticipating Alexander's arrival in three weeks or so. The back seat is more than big enough to comfortably accommodate the baby seat.
US Accords will come only with
heated seats in their EX 6cyl
models only? No heated or heatable outside mirrors at all?
This is a handy feature in the
winter to melt off snow and ice.
The Canadian models will have it,
why not the US?
And the outside temperature
gauge is restricted to EX models
only? Not on lower trim models?
Guess, I will keep my Camry XLE...at least I get that
temperature
gauge and heatable outside mirrors...not too mention a nicer interior. Better quality fabric and layout. Yeah, I know...it rides like a Buick,
but at least the ride won't be
as choppy as this new Accord rides over rough roads.
Never heard of a car that offers heated seats only...and
no heated mirrors. Half-baked?
What were they thinking? What's with that?
INKY4
what are you thinking?
I had taped the MW 03 Accord review; read the Oct C&D (03 EX) Accord Review; and came to the conclusion that the MW 8.0 sec 0-60 time refers to the 03 Accord LX 4 cyl..!!!
While the MW review looks at both V6-EX & 4cyl-LX, the Graphite Pearl LX they test is the 4cyl. What was confusing was that they do specs of the Redondo Red EX-V6 just before acceleration testing the Graphite 4-banger.
I test drove both and believe that 8.0 sec for LX is credible. Very smooth and strong throughout. Sub 7.0 sec for V6 is no brainer (or no-butt-er, depending on your instrumentation).
On the paper, the leg room and hip room in the rear were both cut for 2003. Do you really feel 2002 is more roomy in the back?
in the seats of the Camry is
thicker and plusher than those
used on the new '03 Accord. I
stand by that statement. Now,
that is my opinion. I also
thought the fabric and seat
support on the front seats were
below par and the seat firmness
was hard after sitting in them
for more than a few minutes.
However, the leather seats in
the EX were far better than the
fabric seats in this vehicle.
Interior quality is a matter
of subjective opinion as well.
I see no one cares about the
lack of a heated outdoor mirrors
option or availability. As we
both live in a cold fall, and
winter climate...this should be
of some concern for us northern
folks. Guess not.
All in all, nice car and I can only assume it's yet another Honda sell-out. Oh, and this car was from Pohanka of Salisbury, MD.
Again, the V6 (not the 4cyl.) got the 0-60 in 8sec.
And why do I know this? Because I took the time to write them an email and got a response.
Thanks for writing and for watching MotorWeek,

P.S.: Thanks to Brian R. for responding to my email and being honest!
if i get the accord v6, i hope i don't get one of the slow ones. it would be embarrassing to get beat by an 02 accord v6. i understand no one car is the same, but the difference here is relatively significant.
not overwhelming in terms of being good. The layout and storage space is all pretty logical. Lots of places to put stuff. Gauges are nice and the radio readout is excellent.
The dash plastic is decent but nothing to write home about. Assembly quality was good but I won't say Lexus like. The switches on the stereo felt nice and slick with no slop.
Seats weren't anything great, the seats in the Civic Si are much nicer. Cloth was ratty looking.
The exterior looks nice, but not stunning.
Trunk has the cheap arms that go into the trunk....what's up with that?
Decent room in the car.
Overall the Accord pegs the dull-o-meter.......just as does the new Camry. Both good cars I'm sure but no one will lust after this car.
I used to think paying a couple grand extra for a Toyota or Honda was a good deal but now the Camry and Accord are going so much up the price scale that I find the whole car thing frustrating.....either pay for a domestic car with a crappy interior or get a honda/toyota and pay like an extra 7 grand.
If I was spending 27 grand +/- I wouldn't spend it on a loaded Camry or Accord.......I know the Camry or Accord is probably a better running car than my Diamante but I doubt by much. After checking the Accord out I went back to the Mitsu dealer and checked out the Diamante VR-X....nicer on the inside and can be had close to 25 grand. White gauges, black leather, silver and chrome accents, MR, Infiniti stereo, and a good looking body (except for the heinous wing).
Also stopped by Nissan to look again at Maxima and Altima.
Camry and Accord seem to be wanting to price their top end v6's out of the market.
Even cars like a Millenia, 300m, all would be better options than a loaded v6 Accord IMHO.
That new Mazda6 I think will rock in comparison....I also wanna see the new 9-3...
To me the new Accord only makes sense in its cheapest iterations.
Another idea: if you drive the car gently during breakin, will the adaptive logic in the auto trans cause it to upshift at lower rpm for a while? That would definitely cause slower acceleration, especially with the new engine, which makes peak power at about 62-6400 rpm, so it should upshift above that for peak acceleration.
which of these three do you think is the best, better, and good choice of buy. I am just wondering. do accord owners perfer American cars or Japanese cars.
would you buy another accord after your current one?
i think your math and logic is a little faulty. since you only sat in the car, can we refer to you as the auto armchair reviewer?
