On the left, an easy ID with the 4 verticals on the side, a 1959 Ford Custom 300.
I'm old enough to remember those 15 cent hamburgers. I purchased a Quarter Pounder last week and it was $6.28 with tax.
On the right, a 1964 Falcon and behind the Falcon, a 1961 Chevy.

The preponderance of Fords makes this look like Dearborn MI but it's actually Columbia MO.
Black 4dr on left is a '59 Fairlane while car seen just below speed limit sign is a '57 Ford.

The second-gen 2 door Falcon is a Futura and just beyond it I can make out a 4dr '61 Chevy
    Impala.

    I’ll take the 57 and 59 Fords.

Hmmm, but, the 1959 Ford Fairlane did not have those verticals on the side rear. I'll stick with its being a 1959 Ford Custom 300.
The script and side badge behind the front wheel on that Falcon shows its being the Falcon Sprint. The Futura had a single side badge behind the front wheel without any script.

    Finally stuff I recognize!

Peugeot up front left. 504 I think. Aspen wagon on opposite curb with family truckster decor package. Looks like an aspen cab (never saw that before) tailed by a 5 series. And I think a 4 door Granada wedged in behind the wagon.

The other cab is a 79 Caprice.

What's the other car behind the Aspen cab? It looks GM to me, but I can't place it.

The white car behind the cab is an Olds Toronado, a '77 model I think.

Was there a restaurant called "The Brass Rail" on every NYC block back then? We had one here back in the '60s/'70s but I'm pretty sure it was just a local operator who opened it.

Yes, white car on corner is a Peugeot 504. Far behind it looks like a big Caddy ~73-74. I suspect the BMW is an E21 3-series. I think peeking behind the Chevy cab further back is a MB W116.

Had to look this one up. It's a Fiat 125 Samantha coupe, from 1969. Body by Vignale. Pretty car.

Yup, it's actually a 1966 Triumph TR-4A which is very similar to the one that I owned. The 4A, introduced in 1965 featured an optional Independent rear suspension and a standard
    walnut dashboard.

Perhaps the nicest thing about them was the Michelotti styling outside and the dash styling which to this day remains among the nicest I've ever had (I'm a sucker for lots of dials and switches). My car had an aftermarket Nardi wooden steering wheel which was a lot prettier than the standard wheel in the pic. You can see the Nardi in the little pic in my Id above.

1956 Ford Sunliner. I liked the Ford better than the Chevy in that model year.

Interesting shop on the corner, offering:
    - Musical Instruments
    - Loans
    - Watch Repairs
    - Jeweler
    - Pawn Broker

    It looks quite respectable.

IMO Ford and Chevy were both good looking in 1956, I'd give Chevy a small edge.

I saw that on BaT. I would probably swap out the wheels for a set of Minilites, but compared to a lot of the nasty mod jobs on these, this one was pretty well done. I always loved these. Too bad they got so out of hand price wise.

Yup, the 510s of that generation were thought of as cut-rate 2002s since like the BMW it had IRS and an overhead cam four. They did very well in racing too.

Look at those gas prices LOL, must be from around the zenith of the working class.

I'll pick off the white 63 Country Squire waiting to turn left at center-left. Also just a few imports, I see a few Beetles and what looks like a Toyota Corona just above the Squire.

Mid left parked looks like a Toyota Corona. And pulling out on the right a Torino fastback. ‘68 GT?

And under the 26 sign, a white wagon I think is a rambler. But could be a chevelle.

I see a couple more imports now that I look - in the distance to the left, a VW split window van and what looks like a VW fastback on the road near it. Also the light colored with dark top car to the left of the Corona looks like an import, perhaps a Corolla

I think the white wagon under the 26 might be a Ford.

Newest vehicle I can ID is a '71 Buick going away from the camera, and a '70 Plymouth coming towards it, so maybe late '70 or early '71 for the date. While my nostalgia level is high for the cars of that era and the gas prices are astounding, that rosy glow is tempered by thoughts of what was going on in Vietnam at the time and the terrible effect that had on so many of that (my) generation.

I see the photo title is ATL1971.jpg, which hints at the age and location.

In the background, in traffic moving away from the camera, behind a contemporary Ford pickup with a canopy, appears to be a Maverick.

I just got word of this source of mystery car pics - being British, much of the material will be different for most here, but an amazing archive for browsing no less.

It took but a few minutes for me to find something relevant to my interests, and the cars surrounding it are fairly uncommon, too:

The unit to the right of the Fintail looks like a Ford Anglia 105 (late 50s/early 60s). Two cars over is the tail of a Fiat 128 and at the end of the row a Renault that I can't recall the name/number of.
