I tell ya, two doors used to be a big thing! I don't know why, but I'm sure that fad ended when the children that constantly had to deal with the downside of only two doors became old enough to not repeat those mistakes with their own cars.....

I know that I've never owned a two door car (aside from pickups) for this exact reason.

Back then four doors were old fashioned. Two doors were cooler and had more style.

A pair of blue Accords - one is a late 70's vintage, the other is an '82 or '83.

White gen 1 Camry ('85?) on the far curb

I think the Camry at distant right might be a 2nd gen car, which would have been brand new when the image was taken.

Image is from "License to Drive" btw.

Madison pic includes a Vega Wagon - late 70's ?

In 1980 I had neighbours who had a similar wagon and also a large GM pickup and a couple of customised cars like a jacked up Ford Popular and a lowered Cortina.

We were on a street with no off road parking and when they also got a Transit van we were delighted when they finally left

My recollection is that they only used the Vega as a daily driver but it was quite rarity in London as they weren't sold here.

Wagon in the pic looks like a small front bumper, so early 70s. I'd never have expected a Vega in malaise-era Britain - giving a challenge to derided BL products perhaps. Only the latest Vegas seemed to have durability, an early one there probably didn't make it to 10 years old, due to mechanical quirks and rust propensity. The Vega wagon was a good looking car though.

    @andys120

The Nissan Figaro sold well here as a grey import being RHD and reliable

However they have fallen foul of the "ULEZ" (Ultra Low Emissions Zone ) regulations and are consequently charged £10.50 each day they are used on the road in the entire London area...

They are probably being sold to people who live outside the Zone but that is effectively a 40+ mile radius..

ULEZ is a difficult issue as on the one hand we are fairly green nation but on the other there are a lot of costs and we are approaching an election for control of the London Assembly and also the Mayor.

On the other hand he is popular for looking after the public transport network and making it affordable and he opposes our National government( London isn't generally in favour of the present incumbents in Westminster as Brexit was bitterly opposed in London..)

I'm not sure which way it will go but a majority of residents in London don't actually own a car but the ones who vote are probably more likely to do so...

Strangely though we have two cars - a 2016 Ford Fiesta and my Magnette neither of them are liable for the ULEZ charge.

The Fiesta is exempt as it has low emissions and the MG is exempt as a Historic vehicle,,,

I think the Figaro isn't eligible as a Historic vehicle for some years yet as the cutoff is about 1985 manufacture

I owned a Volvo just like that (a year or so later but that color). My wife brought a TBird that age (but not that color) into the marriage. Both great cars in their own way.
