Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
Yeah, but you weren’t still showing a bunch of zeros on the odometer and still looking at years worth of future monthly payments on the old beater.
In the old days I drove many a car that was cosmetically AND structurally unsound because I couldn’t afford better. There a certain sense of accomplishment in just having a car start and go down the road when your alternative is walking.

There a certain sense of accomplishment in just having a car start and go down the road when your alternative is walking.I manage risk for a living so my take is based on that experience but, there's a lot of variables to that decision aside from the stigma of driving a car with a branded title.Sure it would have a salvage title but who cares if you drive it until the wheels fall off. You, me and a couple of others are the only ones on here who would consider such heresy -- everything must be pristine, which is part of what keeps the car industry bumping along.
Is the damage mainly cosmetic or is the car's structural integrity compromised? What's the reputation of the shop who repaired it? Can I insure it? Do I feel safe putting my family in it? Is it my primary means of transportation?
YMMV
Re: I spotted an (insert obscure car name here) classic car today!
That’s a nice ‘71 coupe. I like the ‘71 and ‘72 Grand Villes best of all the years, and not just because of the bumpers. The ‘73 had some bad woodgrain imho, and a lot of it.

If I was getting another Enclave it absolutely would be the white over blue Avenir trim.I like the Buick Enclave better but that may be because you can get it with a white interior with blue accents, which would make most people's heads explode. The GMC has a Subaru-ish vertical tablet in the center of its dash which I don't particularly care for, but that's just me.
I know this is crazy but what are y'alls thoughts on the Acadia?
The Acadia was upsized again to meet the size of the Traverse and Enclave. I don't think you can wrong with any of them. If leasing it would come down to what has the best program.

I was too lazy to look it up so I asked AI, so take it with a grain of salt. But, apparently power windows became standard on the New Yorker and Ninety Eight in 1972! 1974 for the Grand Ville, and 1975 for the Electra.I just browsed the brochures site and power windows were not mentioned as standard in the '74 brochure but were for its last year of '75. I guess the intelligence truly is artificial.
Looks like they were standard on the Marquis Brougham, starting in 1971.
One thing that I found interesting - it looked to me that the GV 2-door HT had its own slightly more formal roofline. The brochure images of it aren't great and it seems they either didn't sell many 2-doors or very few have survived, because most of the pics I found are either 4-door models or convertibles. This is the best pic I could find.

What could possibly go wrong?
If you leave the 240 attached it could go south. Not turning the system off inside would just be a little zap. It was shockingly easy to replace the compressor fan motor since I bought the OEM. It had the correct snap in thermal and then only attach the ground wire to the chassis. The contactor was plug and play.
The fan required PB blaster and then a puller using an impact wrench and then tap the motor shaft out.
