Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
Your Montero is definitely a niche vehicle. Somebody has to be specifically searching for one to find yours. Can you imagine what an '03 4 Runner or Land Cruiser in the same condition as yours with only 37K miles would fetch on BAT?I'm pulling for the typical last day activity.I’m getting updates. Need the bidders to get fighting for it.
Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous

In my feed... not seeing the "stylish" part here. I didn't click over, but the 2014-era C-class in the right margin was also not the best of Mercedes design. (Out of curiosity, I did click on the Leaf, and it's the base model with the lower capacity battery, so rated at 150 miles of range, and would probably go a bit over 100 miles at interstate speeds. But, your only realistic fast charge option is CHAdeMO, which is hard to find. And, it's Old Man Grey™!)

Re: I spotted an (insert obscure car name here) classic car today!
I believe that was built at the Moraine plant in our area. Same line. A skillet came along with different sheet metal and things being added.
I took a plant tour and I believe there were 5 variations of the Trailblazer being built there that day. Was one a Saab? The Mitsubishi. GMC.
After searching for clones on internet, I found Oldsmobile and Buick each also had a clone.
That makes 6.

Seriously, a few hours basically gets you to anything you would ever want/need to do. It is so easy to plan some great day/weekend trips!
That is true. Although I travelled with work over most of the eastern and central U.S. for a few decades, outside of a two-year stint living in suburban Atlanta, I've lived in NW PA/NE OH my entire life and have taken what you mention for granted.
I'm driving out to South Bend, IN this Friday and staying overnight. It's about a 4 1/2 hour drive. Just feel a need to go someplace with what has happened in my life lately. The car show there is called "Concours at Copshaholm" and while not real big, is full of absolutely top-end cars--this is no local cruise-in. 'Copshaholm' is the Oliver Mansion (Oliver Chilled Plow/Tractors). It's right behind the Studebaker National Museum which I always enjoy too. Driving out, near the OH/IN border I'll get off the toll road and onto US20 and drive the last hour-and-a-half or so through rural IN and small towns. I enjoy that when I'm not in a hurry to arrive someplace by some time. I may go to Tippecanoe Place in South Bend, the Clement Studebaker mansion, for at least a beer as they've opened "Studebaker Brewing Co." there in addition to the longtime restaurant that has been there.

Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations
I finished up my first two days of my retired judge gig- I was sent to sub for the judge who replaced me when I "retired" in 2008. It was a lot of fun, a lot of people dropped by the office to say hello, which was nice. I'll likely get some longer assignments to some counties that are farther away, since some retired judges don't want to be appointed to any courthouse more than 20 miles from their home.I'll be serving jury duty in August while the wife is in SF visiting kids. I have to be in court at 0800, it's probably (sans traffic) a 40-minute drive. So, up very early to take doggo out and hit rush hour traffic.
Seriously.
The city where I'm serving is not exactly known for being "safe," so I told the wife I'll be taking her car. The destination city is probably safer than the thoughts she had for my well-being at that moment. Guess the A7 will be the sacrificial lamb, harder to slash the top...
Here's hoping for an out of court settlement that date!
Although the last time I served, at the Fed courthouse in Boston, I went to trial for 10 days. It was both boring and interesting, I got a free lunch courtesy of the judge at conclusion and my company let me keep the $300 I earned!
Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
He's got an LJ with a stick in FL as well as a JLU V6 SportMy best friend lives in FL and runs his businesses here (in NY & CT). He comes up every other week. He keeps a car up here. It is a 2017 2 Door JK Rubicon Hard Rock 6MT. It currently has 75ishK miles. There's a guy in Danbury that has a Jeep Top storage, installation, & removal business. People who don't want to be bothered taking their hard tops off, storing them, & installing their soft tops go here. The guy also sells hard tops & soft tops. Last year my friend bought a soft top for his JK from this guy. He's also had him replace the gaskets and seals on his hard top. My friend decides he wants to keep his hard top on and goes to tell the guy to sell his soft top. My friend's Jeep is in amazing condition. The guy says to him: "Do you ever think about selling your Jeep?" To which my friend replied: "Not a day goes by that I don't think about selling at least one of my cars. However usually selling this Jeep is at the bottom of that list."I would have kept the TJ a while longer but it needed an A/C evaporator as well as some rust repair to the frame. Couple that with the decision to downsize to three vehicles and the 4xe was an easy choice- as it could also serve as a DD for either of us and still provide the off-road ability we needed for the farm.
The Ford dealers crossed a Bronco off our list and long-term reliability concerns nixed the Defender (other than that we both like it a lot.
