Finally folks, the Sandman has bought a new vehicle!!! They're bringing it to the house as I type this. Details to follow. Got the odometer up to 79,996...never made it to 80K! But hey, that's life. Lots for me to learn these next few days!!!
Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
A Mustang is a monster, size wise, compared to a Cayman! The length of the hood takes some getting used too.

Re: Mystery car pix
Now there's one for me, a bit more than a decade later I went to college there. I believe the Ranch Room still exists. This would be Holly St, looking N, was a one way when I was there and I think still is (haven't been there in several years).
Kind of in the middle of the pic, far R travel lane, in front of a Maverick is a then-brand new Camaro. Knowing Bellingham, some of these cars still exist.

Re: Mystery car pix
finally cars from my era!
Pacer in the center next to a mid 60's Ranchero. Have never seen one like that in person. pair of gen 1 Civics behind a 75ish Celica hatch (I had one of that generation). Over to the right of the Pinto pulling out, is a 70-72 era Javelin with a duck tail, so one of the hot rod versions. up ahead a later Brick Volvo (might be a 164) based on the taillights. with a Datsun 510 behind that.

Re: I spotted an (insert obscure car name here) classic car today!
On a FB "Underappreciated Survivors" page, a guy just posted this pic. We were talking about the original Intrepid here not too long ago.
I do think that's a nice-looking car, original in design and very roomy. And this one looks really good for thirty (or close) years old.

As a Studebaker guy, I want to like post-Studebaker Avantis--the chance of them ever even happening was miniscule, yet to hang around as long as they did--but they don't do anything for me. To make the taller Chevy engine fit, the forward rake was eliminated, and the front wheel openings were reduced in size, which both take a lot of the charm of the original away IMHO. In later years they were using a mishmash of interior parts, including AMC, never a bastion of interior beauty IMHO LOL.
I'm thinking since you're in OH like I am, I will eventually hear or see something about that auction.

Re: 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Lease Deals, Incentives, Rebates, and Prices
The dealer does not get the money. They aren't the owner of the vehicle. The leasing bank gets the money. The incentive to the consumer is whatever they say it is.Dealers can't keep incentives. The tax credits go to the owner of the vehicle. On a lease, that is the leasing bank. Those incentives can be passed along in any manner the manufacturer/bank chooses. (or not)Thank you, that is true. For leases, it is a commercial buyer to whom the income restrictions do not apply.
So the manufacturer knows upfront that they are getting this $7500 back in 72 hours, and the consumer should know that when leasing, the credit doesn't exist for the consumer but rather for the dealer/mfr (on eligible VIN) if they need to use it for marketing/sales purposes.
Basically the $7500 clean vehicle credit only applies to consumers for tax purposes if they buy, not if they lease.
If I had realized this, I would have used the $7500 clean vehicle credit as a negotiating tool simply to lower the gross capitalized cost (vehicle price you're starting with). Meaning, my starting point for price for a lease should be MSRP less $7500, because the dealer gets that in 3 days, before any money upfront from the consumer and any "lease cash" being offered. Do I have it right, now?
