Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations
Must be the season for that. Last night my son’s window unit crapped out on the cusp of a string of near 100 degree days. Luckily, I had an extra unit since I replaced the downstairs AC a few weeks ago.Well craptastic, main floor ac crapped out. I changed the capacitor but the contactor was stuck (thankfully on) and fan motor seized. A little Liquid wrench and we are back in business until it can be repaired.
The infuriating thing is that his unit was only going into its second season. Well past the 90 day cheapo warranty.

We’ll see. One step at a time.
Glad you were not hurt and I hope your son was not with you. An idiot driving like that and it could have been worse for you and other cars around you.
Any idea when the insurance company will make their ruling?

Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
You found that one. They can find you an identical replacement easy enough (is new car replacement coverage still a thing?)
$15-20K sounds like a Rivian quarter.

If your insurance allows you to collect DV (not a thing, here), then that has to increase the chances they will total it, right? We’ll see. One step at a time.

Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
Sounds logical. But never know with an insurance company.

Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
@28firefighter that stinks. But it falls into my “the GLI is tainted, this is a buying opportunity” plan. I’d actually be happier with a new vehicle than a repaired possible unibody frame damage vehicle that I own rather than lease.
I changed our car insurance to replacement value after the Audi Q7 before the lemon-ish Q7 was totaled since it was such a hassle to get a reasonable actual value for it during the really high price COVID days. Thankfully @qbrozen came to my rescue and sent complete Manheim comparable data that I could submit. It also helped that I was in the position to go ahead a buy a new vehicle and tell the insurance company to pound sand while I waited impatiently.

We don't have it for this month. It tends to be in the .00400 range@Michaell said:

Re: Postwar Studebakers
I think I remember that guy many years ago from a show at a city park in Reading OH. Lots of interesting cars at that show. Most owners will be courteous if not pleasant.
At the Lincoln Continental show earlier that day a guy offered to move his canvas chair so I could get a pic of his beautiful Lincoln without him. Others yelled at their buddy, who was leaning in the back window of his car trying to get something, that I didn't want a picture of his butt so could he back out. I said I've been taking pics for decades and I'm very patient.
