Isn’t the countryman a shared platform with the X1?

Yes, it is.

I only drove the EV version, but this current Countryman is as large as any other compact SUV these days. That’s generally seen as a negative by enthusiasts, but as far as using one as a daily commuter, it’s very comfortable and compliant.

Plus, the Countryman trim isn't exactly "mini", any more. Maybe, that's a good thing, though

I love those. I remember back when they were new seeing one on the floor of the local Ford dealer (sadly I was probably there to look at an Escort GT or some such thing). Roped off though so didn't get to sit in it. at the time, maybe sticker was $100-150K?

if I hit the lotto that is one exotic I would consider splurging on.
