Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations
Might be retiring sooner than expected. Or at least half the family is. We were driving to the store earlier and out of the blue the boss popped out with "why are we working longer if we can afford not to"? Though she did follow up with her usual panic about not having medical insurance but that is really just a $ issue since we can get retiree med if needed. She said we should pull the plug next spring (a year earlier than our theoretical plan to go to spring 2027 and retire straight to medicare.
works for me! Though I did say that if needed she could call it quits and I would work the extra 9 months or so while she relaxed.
assuming she makes it through year end. She really is wearing out and admitted she doesn't think she can do it for another 2 years. Doesn't help that we both work on implementations (health plans) and the busy (very busy) season is at year end around open enrollments.
wish us luck!

Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
Slightly better photo after a bath and a very basic ceramic coat.
Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
This is why we got the Sportage and not a RAV4. Toyota Prices are just way out of line for what you get.

Love this guy's videos. And probably the most positive, non-biased review of a CVT I have ever seen. Maybe I should try one out in a WRX.Only if you reincarnate yourself as "cvtguy" for your profile.

I can't think of a worse car to have a non-manual transmission in it.

Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations
Here's my story about Hulk Hogan. Sorry for it being so long.
Back in the mid 80's Hulk wrestled in Hartford.
I think it was still WWF back then.
Some of my young teen aged brother in laws were really into wrestling and went to the event.
Hulk was losing his match, so one of the BIL's decided to rescue him.
He ran down the aisle and jumped through the ropes.
He says he remembers Hulk looking at him like 'WT? are you doing?'
About the same time his younger brother decided to help out but one of the wrestlers caught him before he go to the ring.
They both got hauled off to jail and put into a group holding cell.
The older one could have signed himself out but the younger one needed a guardian to sign for him, so the older one stayed.
While they were in the cell, some guy said he had a shiv and was 'going to get himself a cop'.
When they got called for their arraignment, the older one told the cops there was a guy out to get them.
So they got together and took care of that guy.
They go in front of the judge, the one brother who stayed in his seat went home and told mom that the other 2 got arrested.
Judge says to her 'You must be Manager Mom'.
The capper of the story is the older brother just retired after 20 years as a Judicial Marshall.
He's an alpha guy, so anytime there was potential for trouble in the courtroom, the judges would request his presence.
A coupe of quick stories about his experiences.
One time, a violent criminal was to be transferred to another state, so the transport contractor sent a team to pick him up.
He got unruly, so the contractors prepared to do a cell extraction.
The guy made the mistake of threatening my BIL's family, so he told the contractors to stand down, he would do the extraction by himself.
'Nobody threatens my family'.
The other is that near the end of his carrier he asked to cuff and walk the 'Fitbit Murderer' out of the courtroom after he was found guilty.

Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations
Looks like a possible flip, BAT might be an appropriate venue. To me, no price means the seller is self-conscious. A car that will survive the apocalypse, and it needs that 4-speed, as even in that form the fintail can walk away from it, and an automatic may be unsafe in some traffic situations. That's the final year for the USDM 240D.Finally…
