Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
The new A/S 6 etrons look rather interesting, on my list to review. But at this moment I think I'm inclined to stay put. I think. Lucid called again, it's a bit of a drive to the showroom, not sure I want to yet go fully electric.Congrats @28firefighter! BMW owns the color blue.Yup - I’m in the same boat…I was pretty enthusiastic about the prospect of a Lucid with last month’s lease deals, but July brought much less attractive offers. And if their online inventory of available cars is accurate, it would seem there has been a rush from buyers to snatch up remaining 2025 models, so not so sure those lease deals are returning any time soon.
Lucid dealer has contacted me several times since I went lookie-lou'ing a couple weeks ago. Lease prices went way up this month, they're advertising the end of the $7500 lease credit 9/30. Not sure I want to part ways with the wonderful A7 before I pay it off at 0%, assume a similar lease payment for 36 months. The Air GT is leasing for not too much more that Tourings (cars they have on site up here), offering EPA rated 500+ miles range. And, of course, I'd have to upgrade the garage to 240...
Such problems.
I did test out a new S6 e-tron this past Friday. I’m not sure if it’s as nice as your current A7, but that could be a nice option. I have that on my short list, along with the SQ6 e-tron and Polestar 3.
I’m also attracted to the deeply depreciated pricing on lightly used BMW iX’s.
Since I'm now on a fixed income, am I finally becoming fiscally responsible? If so, does that now make me an adult? If so, darn, maybe I have to rethink my rethink!

You need to update your sig! Although I guess you technically still own the GLI.I think he does, but technically cannot discuss anything that may or may not be happening with the GLI.
VW has provided a rough ETA of August for parts. Remains to be seen if that’s when the factory releases them (probably) or when they arrive in the US (less likely). But, because I have a timeline now that can be measured in weeks, I need to wait and see. I’ve lined up a diminished value claim and more will flip it when it’s done.

Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations
Might be retiring sooner than expected. Or at least half the family is. We were driving to the store earlier and out of the blue the boss popped out with "why are we working longer if we can afford not to"? Though she did follow up with her usual panic about not having medical insurance but that is really just a $ issue since we can get retiree med if needed. She said we should pull the plug next spring (a year earlier than our theoretical plan to go to spring 2027 and retire straight to medicare.Good luck!
works for me! Though I did say that if needed she could call it quits and I would work the extra 9 months or so while she relaxed.
assuming she makes it through year end. She really is wearing out and admitted she doesn't think she can do it for another 2 years. Doesn't help that we both work on implementations (health plans) and the busy (very busy) season is at year end around open enrollments.
wish us luck!
Similar story here, wife worked a very high-stress job that I don't think she even realized as she had been doing it so long (and was so good at it, well rewarded by her co.). I wanted her retired first, we set a timetable, but her co. had other ideas as she was downsized last year along with 11 others. They severanced her quite well. So, set my date to be just after my 27 year anniversary this year and bonus payout and I went immediately to Medicare. She went from her co. paid insurance through the severance period to COBRA.
I, too, was in a higher stress job the last couple of years, tech-supporting Actuarial group which meant "no days off!" quarter end work for the 4-5 weeks of that period. I missed a lot of family time and, as has oft been said, "I'm too old for this stuff!"
Retirment has been most excellent.
Hoping for smooth sailing to your dates!
Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
yes because it is very comfortable. No because it sucks gas. I watched the video when they went over it. Engine bay looked like new, and not leaking anything. somebody took care of it.https://www.euroasianauto.com/details/used-2018-bmw-7-series/114892999Saw the video on YouTube about this car. Looks great and allegedly maintained meticulously. Still, would you want to take it on a long trip?
196k miles on a turbo V12 BMW... What could possibly go wrong?
