    That's a Bitter SC from 81 or so. I think Andys posted one of these a while while back.

    "#2919 isn't that hard"

    I think you mean #2917, but anyway....

    Here's my guess, 1950s Chevrolet, or Ford.

    Sorry I can't be specific, but cars from that time period kinda look the same to me :confuse:
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
    Yes I did mean 2917. Navi is getting warm but perhaps some one could be a little more specific.

    I'll guess a 53 Chevy, probably something like a Bel Air sport coupe
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
    But I thought we might give you a tough test :P

    Here are 4 cars, all spaced out several model years apart. Put them in chronological order and name the year and model if you feel up to it.

    Oh the things I think of while mowing the lawn...LOL

    Bingo, except it's not a coupe, it's a four door Bel Air Hardtop sedan.

    -D is the oldest, a late 80s Honda Accord.
    -B is a Mazda Protege, early 90s.
    -A is a Nissan Sentra, mid 90s.
    -C is a Honda Civic, 1997-2001 or 2 (I can't remember when they changed).

    A = 96ish Sentra

    B = 92ish protege

    C = 96ish Civic

    D = 90ish Accord

    I can never get the model years right on those, just the generation
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
    Missed it by THAT much!

    Models right, order wrong, years...umm... close
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
    Am I seeing a different pic? I see one door handle. IIRC there wasn't a 4 door HT until 56
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,518
    D) Accord... either '92 or '93.. which are last two years for that model..

    A) Sentra... This is the tough one... I want to say '94

    B) Protege... '95

    C) Civic... '96 or '97

    Pure beauty.

    I see that and think even new Ferraris are not worthy.

    Juice, I don't think any new cars let alone Ferraris can compare to the voluptuous
    lines of the Pininfarina Ferraris of 1958-1969.

    My apologies Fin. What I thought was a second doorhandle was only a reflection. :blush:
    I should've remembered that '55 was the first year for the Bel Air HT. :cry:

    OK, here's what I think.

    1 - the oldest, probably the Honda Accord (D), that generation was dropped in 1993-1994 I believe

    2 - the Mazda Protege is second oldest, generation dropped in 1994-1995 I think

    3 - Nissan Sentra, lasted from 1995 - 1999 I think, the new generation came in 2000

    4 - Honda Civic, lasted from 1996-2000, then the 2001 came in....and now it's gone
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
    1: Accord (1990-1993)
    2: Protege (1992-1995)
    3: Sentra (mid 90's)
    4: Civic (the one in picture is a 1999 or 2000)

    He also correctly has the Accord as a 93 and has the Civic in the right range. But the Protege seems to be throwing folks off :confuse:

    Phantom Corsair, ca. 1937. It really looks like something out of Tim Tyuler's Luck or some other 30s movie serial.

    Remember we're supposed to stick to post-1945 cars. ;)

    Re pre 1945:

    Reread the first post, Bob. If a lot of you want to include prewar cars, I guess I can hold my own.

    Was I right about the Phantom Corsair? ;)

    Morris Minor convertible for sure and Dart, looks like a ....um....63/64 and probably a GT being a convert. Something a little funny about it though....

    You must mean 2944, not 2544.

    Anyway, 2945 answers that, a Rambler Cross Country.

    Like the idea of random selection of cars to identify, but you guys will be far better than me - especially with anything from your side of the pond. Like to have a go at #2955 - it's a Bentley Mk 6 circa 1945 - 51 (although I imagine very few made before 1947).
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
    Welcome aboard, Fiatowner (I used to have a 124 Spider), That's a bingo on the
    Bentley Mk.VI.

    The 124 spyder wasn't available here in Britain, I believe, although we did get the coupe, and of course the saloon, estate etc. I think they were worried then about the competition from native sports cars- MG, Triumph etc. - how times change!
    My Fiat is actually a little smaller than a 124, because it is a Seicento Sporting - , 1107cc engine, ten foot six overall length, but about 50miles per gallon which makes sense here, and I can park anywhere which helps as I live in London. Not very fast on motorways though - about 88 flat out, which means I get passed by anything less than a large truck.
    Please excuse any glitches in my less than perfect computer skills - I'm using the machine at work, pending a new one at home, so bear with me!
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
    What year is your Seiciento (IIRC that's 600 in English)?

    I think they were worried then about the competition from native sports cars- MG, Triumph etc. - how times change!

    Ha! I owned a TR-4A before the '71 Spider. The Fiat was a whole generation ahead of contemporary Brits with a 5-Speed, DOHC motor and 4-wheel discs all standard.
    The prices were about the same in the US.

    If only they'd included minimal rustproofing :cry: !

    That model actually came out in 1990!

    My Seicento is 2001 model - they had just facelifted it.
    Also have an MG Magnette ZA, 1955, but thats in bits at the moment (fairly long term).
    Re the Fiat/Brit sportscar thing, I think Fiat were faced with a reluctance to buy foreign sports cars in the UK - they were more expensive -tariffs on Euro imports before we joined EU in 1973 - and they were perceived (wrongly) as more unreliable while they rusted even worse than MG/Triumph. The 124 saloon was sold as a sporting option to compare with Rapier, CortinaGT, etc because of disc breaks and DOHC -I think I used to see more 124Sport saloons and the coupe than basic saloons, until they sold the thing to Russia and we got the VAZ Lada which was really cheap. Even in US where prices were the same I think MG were the best selling imported sports car until the 240Z - which we also got, but not in huge numbers.
