    Lincoln
1958? The reverse slant rear window was not common.

Lincoln, and I would guess 1958, but model is more difficult - did they have a Capri in that line-up?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Nope not a '58, it's a 1960 Lincoln Mk.5. IIRC the '59 and '60 Lincolns were the largest passenger cars ever offered for regular sale in the USA...and one of the ugliest=>

Well, that's a Ford, but the rest of this is a guess - 1952? was there a Crown Victoria or something or did that start with the next shape which was more squared off? Anyway, it's the w/end for me so I'll find out what this was Monday....Looks better than the parade barge Lincoln on the previous picture though.

    1949 Ford

I just watched the movie "Stand by Me" in which Keifer Sutherland and his gang play mailbox baseball in a 49 Ford convertable. :P

It's a 50 Ford, you can tell by the turn signals just above the bumper in the corners of the front end. It's also a "Crestline" with the two-toning. I was thinking those came out in 51, but these things are more my dad's cup of tea than mine.
  • oregonboyoregonboy Member Posts: 1,650
I thought that the circular grill center went away in 1950, when if fact it was 1951.

    It's a 1950 Crestliner.

Most are limited production and very expensive, but I prefer the looks of the more mainstream designs, like the Pininfarina Spiders and Bertone GTVs.

It does look a lot like a Sonnet - never thought of that before.

That's cause the wires were loose in the hub. Wire wheels need a lot of maintenance, basically a PIA. If it wasn't that I had to change the spindles, I'd have taken the wire wheels off every car I ever owned.

Junior Zagato ---- LOL! I recognized the brick wall before I did the car---that's Fantasy Junction in Emeryville California. Fun place, nice people.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
I'm not a big fan of Zagato bodywork either, they peaked in 193? with the Alfa 1750
but their Abarths were nice, especially the Porsche Abarth Carrera.

I do like the Alfa Junior though, it has a certain something. I suppose there's a resemblance in the roofline and side windows to a Sonnett but c'mon...

Shifty, I dunno why the always shoot their cars against the same brick wall at Fantasy Junction.

The car successful enough to prolong Studebaker's agony. Actually a late model Lark with Avanti-power would be fun.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
According to the South African website I got the picture from it's a 1967 Lark. Studebaker stopped US production in '63 IIRC. Did they continue making them outside the US or is that caption a typo ? http://www.dyna.co.za/cars/Studebaker_67_Lark_Blue_sf11.jpg

I've got a car I'd like to see a picture for; let's see who gets one posted first.

My daughters' best friend told me tonight that she might be inheriting her grandfathers 1962 Oldsmobile. It's been stored in a garage for the past few years, but it went to the mechanic today to see what it needed. Granddad is putting in $1000 towards the rehab; the rest will be covered by the friend.

Who's got a picture to post of one of these? Sorry, I didn't get a specific model .. all I know is that its black with a red interior and power everything.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,517
    Renault Logan
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
They made them in Canada through 1966 I believe. So it's quite possible you could have a '67 South African registration.

A Dacia Logan? The Romanian car.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Yep, it's the Romanian Dacia Logan, a rebadged Renault Logan.

Coming up with a picture of a '62 Olds is pretty easy if you go to Hemmings, Google or
EBay. This '62 Starfire HT Coupe is from Hemmings, it's the top of the line for big Olds of that year=>image

The compact Olds F85 looked a bit different=>

If she gets a decent one it's well worth saving IMO. In '62 GM was at the height of it's dominance in terms of market power (nearly 50% of US sales) and styling (the Mitchell era).

Be aware that four door sedans with center posts and low line cars are considerably frumpier than the top of the line cars shown but w power everything it's likely to be a top model..

If you're lucky, the Olds will look like this

    image

The blue pickup is something like a Peugeot 403
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Uh uh Fin, the 403 had a squared off nose and more integral fenders like a modern car..
That's a 203 ca. 1957. Apparently Peugeot made a lot of car-based pickups, they were often seen with canvas covers over the beds like those you see on military trucks.

-# 3109 is a postwar car but looks pre war 'cuz it's a 1946 model, essentially identical to the '41-'42.

-Brand and model name are still in use today, in fact they're rather popular on both counts.

-I'm not sure you could say the looks have improved in the nearly 60 years since 1946 but that's a matter of opinion.

    Nobody got #3109, it's a 1946 Chevy Suburban, and nobody got #3117, a 2005 Lancia
    Lybra.

    Here's one you should know...
