or in the Phoenix area. I offer sticker price
in Tucson Dealership.
Good luck
As of today they have 19 O5 ODY's in their lot and all the RES's I've seen are still there on the lot.... So I don't understand who's buying cars at MSRP from these guys....
So I'm going to wait till the hoopla dies down.
One suggestion to buyers is if you really want it now, why not think about joining up with someone from the same city and try to workout a deal for 2+ vans at the same time.
Some of my colleagues did that by buying 3 2002 ODY's from one dealer at the same time. I'm sure the dealers would salivate over selling you the vans and cut a deal in the process. As an example even $1K off MSRP on a EXL-RES amounts to a easy $2.4K profit for them.
l8ter.
Keep up the good posts everyone!!!!
Good idea! Anyone in Orange County, CA wants to join me for buying a 2005 Odyssey EX-L w/DVD & W/NAV for $2000 or more below MSRP. If not, I will buy this weekend for $32,200.
I paid MSRP + $1,200 and that was after negotiating for weeks with different dealers - most of them dropped off and only one was left, who gave me also the highest trade-in value as well as the best price.
My experience with the sales person was fantastic and when I went to see the minivan yesterday at the showroom, it is one of the best car, let alone a minivan I have ever seen.
In any case I just don't understand these price differentials.
Sorry, but i'm a little confused. I noticed that you posted a message where you implied that you bought(?) an Ody for 32,200 which was over 2k in savings(you may want to check your own math in that thread). Now you are "buying this weekend". So can you clarify these things? If it is true(the $32,200 deal) then you have just helped out tremendously in the form of a great bargaining chip. Of course if you don't actually own the vehicle then you comment carrys no weight at all.
Thanks in advance
Jock
But honestly, the deal is real and he will keep the price for me when I come back.
Then why do you need to join with another person from same city. What is the advantage that you are getting by bringing in one more buyer?
When we were looking at the Sienna, I spoke with a salesperson who worked at White something or other dealership in downtown Dayton back when the Ody madness was at its peak. She told me some stories that were just brutal about Hidy.
I knew of them from reading about them and their tactics on these boards. Hope you made out really well on your trade to offset paying sticker.
I just wonder if there is collusion or a few people owning most of the Honda dealerships in this area. I count it towards experience, but the car is so good that I am willing to overpay to get it sooner
Details on the deal- I got it for $300 under MSRP, with a Cargo Cover (value $271), free road hazard insurance (supposed value $450), free car washes, and loaner cars. Other places in town (Beechmont Honda @ $900 under MSRP and Jeff Wyler Colerain @ $1500 both by phone/internet) were lower, but I would've had to order the Ocean Mist and wait even longer. Also, Performance Honda was very upfront, and not automatically adding on anything - something that I wasn't sure about with the other 2 dealerships in town since I didn't work with them in person.
"I just wonder if there is collusion or a few people owning most of the Honda dealerships in this area. I count it towards experience, but the car is so good that I am willing to overpay to get it sooner"
True dealer collusion is highly unlikely, since it is illegal. If multiple dealerships have the same owner, it is not unreasonable that all of those dealerships would have identical or similar pricing policies.
More likely, supply and demand are at work. Many urban and large suburban centers have a limited supply of Odysseys relative to comparably higher demand than at dealerships located in less-populated areas. In fact, I think you validate this in part by your statement that you are "willing to overpay to get it sooner". It doesn't take more than a handful of people with the same sentiment to justify an MSRP-only policy on the part of a dealership.
Hit a few traffic snag, spoke to the NAVI to get a detour, and it worked great.
Anyway the dealer was very no nonsense and a nice
guy. I asked for MSRP-500, no BS fees, he said fine, no haggle, took a credit card, and I picked up the car. He took his time "teaching" me the car, and he also gave me accessories at cost.
There was no upselling of other stuff, and no
"I gotta talk to the manager" crap.
Highly recommeded, even if you have to drive a bit. I rented an avis car one-way to pick it up.
Dealer was Valley Honda in Monroeville,PA (about 10mi east of Pittsburgh).
Contact me for the decent sales guy info via email.
Has anyone recently closed a deal in the LA area that would volunteer the numbers?
We purchased a 2005 Honda Odyessy Touring Silver Pearl (base model) w/Gray Leather Interior from Renton Honda for $35010 (includes dest. fee)
(includes Carpet Mats, Wheel Locks, 3rd row Sunshades, supposed value over $1K)+ 200 " Doc Fees" + WA Tax @9.1%
I would recommend that people keep pushing thier Honda dealers and don't pay the "Market Adjustment" On the car we got they had advertised $2K markup over MSRP.
Also, I put the $3500 down on a credit card with 2% rebate so that's another $700, I'll see at the end of the year. There were other dealers further away willing to go lower (upto $500 off MSRP) but would not deliver until End of November or December.
Umm that's $70 but it's better than nothing. Buy yourself a couple of tanks of premium.
Final price:
MSRP $32,410
DIsc $1,060
02 MDX trade $26,562
Total price after tax and $50.doc fee(no other crooked fees)$6,900.
Thats with my trade-in.
I contacted all Dallas,Texas honda dealers and told me they dont sell under msrp.Good luck to the sukers.
The windnoise coming from the driverside @ 40-50mph was on the demo,So I told the dealer to fix it since i am only picking my vehicle up next Thursday. They had to swap with another dealer to get the silver.Windnoise problem was posted on this site-Thanks
Sometimes,it pays to contact dealers in small towns, like Paris,TX to get a better deal.(90miles NE of Big D
Good luck guys!!!!!
Am almost ready to buy an 05 EX-L and hope to get one with Redrock Pearl color. Deals nearby sell at MSRP. Anyone has any experiences or recommendations on pricing? Also I am open for Internet purchase. Any comments on Internet experience are welcome too.
I am located north of Boston
Is there any way to get Navi without the rear DVD>
Any one have experience / advice for towing (tent trailer) on an 05 Odyssey?
The next day I heard back from Moses Lake, offering $500 under with delivery in October. The internet salesman called to dealers outside their normal trade area to find me a Desert Rock EX-L with DVD/Nav. The document fee was $35. The state required title fee was $61. Plus sales tax. That was it. Not hidden fees, no additional fees.
We picked up our vehicle Friday. Very easy. No pressure to buy any extras. Fast & friendly.
My husband DID NOT WANT anyone to be allowed to test drive our vehicle before we picked it up. I was assured this would not happen, and it did not. There were only 9 miles on it, which were from the Honda required dealer test.
I didn't ask, but I bet that now prices are coming down, they are offering more than $500 off. They offered $500 off on September 23!
One Seattle dealer insisted that I was going to be "had" with a quote like that. He said it was completely unreasonable to believe that a dealer would sell such a hot vehicle to me at that price! He sent me a lengthy email detailing why this couldn't possibly happen and why I should give him a call so we could discuss it. He didn't want to see me burned. I was quite ammused!
We are having the problem with colors, most of the dealers may not have the colors what we are looking for. Finally I bought one 2005 Odyssey EXL-DVD for $31600, it's $750 less than MSRP doc fees only $45.00. My friend looking for EXL-DVD-NAV, I negotiated with the dealer, they agreed the same discount $750 below MSRP for my friend too when they get his color.
If you would like to join with us, you are always welcome.
Cars Direct in our zip code has Ody at MSRP and as far as I know Costco's price is $500 under MSRP everywhere.
This is the first I've heard of any dealer offering only $900 over invoice. Would you mind telling everyone exactly what you paid for this vehicle. Touring w/NAV/RES. MSRP is $38K+, but invoice plus $1K would make it about $35K. Also do you know if this dealership ships vehicles. with the quote you've provided this could still save $3K off the cost.
