First I win my bid on the BaseLink. Then this afternoon my 300M Enthusiast Club new member packet arrived in the mail, including welcome letter from the Prez, and a nice note from Dr. Pixel. I'm going out and buy a lottery ticket. This is my day!

Did you guys see the review ? Edmund just throwed 300M out of this test. 300M did well in their 1999 test. Shame ? TL-S with five speed auto tanny is very fast, even 300M-s can not match it in 0-60. Has Chrysler been sleeping after the release of 300M ? YES.
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
If 0 ot 60 was the only thing that mattered in a car every one would get a twin turboed Viper. Interior room is very important to me though. Try to fit five adults in a TL or a 300M and it is no contest, the 300M wins. My 99 is just as fast as any 99 TL, that is what I go by, plus the extra confort is a major bonus. The trunk comes in handy too.

I too have one of the Fleet Advantage Cards from Earnhardt's, and I didn't even buy my car from them. So far I have not used it. (I wonder if I could use it for an additional 10% off a new car???)

Are you sure the Lights are HID's and not simply projector types?
  • wencaowencao Member Posts: 52
Yes, I still love the M. Special is next deal. Only sluggish tranny makes this car not so perfect.
  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
Congratulations on the new black beauty!! Does it have the same options as your white one did? What color is the inside, the light taupe? Does it have the chrome shifter? As soon as you can, post new pics, I want to see it! Good luck with this one and watch out for anymore nut jobs on the road!!

ok i took this today, this is what the exhaust sounds like in autostick. 1st to long 2nd to relaxed 3rd. i would have done all the way, but i was already doing 70+ in residential. no houses, but it was still residential, i'm not stupid enuf to run it where there houses...but look!!!

the more i drive, the deeper it gets, i really love this exhaust. oh, and file is small...

can you build a 300M Special for me and glue a sticker on it that will say something like $29K? :) Pleeeeease...

HATAX!!! excellent, always good to go in with a partner on these things. ok www.prowlerpro.com has a dry nitrous kit, but its retarded. no point in going with them, ridiculously expensive as well. however, we gotta get those gears, they WILL work on the 300. and as everyone said, its all about the shift points. those gears are money, $1400, but at least we can install ourselves. those aer a definite tho. the trans i am not worried about. smoe ppl are skeptical but as you said, how many failures have we seen? and man i drive my 300 like its a junk car. i rev it all the time, jack rabbit, slam on brakes, downshift, i mean all kinds of stuff. just recently i stopped cuz i got a new found respect for it, but it was harsh the first 25k miles. so i think the tranny will hold. what i am worried about is : PISTONS! rings, valves, cuz it will be running lean. so i am looking around for forged pistons and stuff. other than that, we're good to go man. you can buy a ZEX system, a venom system, nos express, anything, theyll all work fine. i wanna go with the venom, its pc programmable. so u can hit it up from 10hp, to 150hp. on a dry system too, so its safer. cuz with the wet system, the gas can puddle up on teh 90 degree turn. the last thing i need is for my car to explode....

tint looks real good in this car, and helps a lot with the sun/heat as well. these leather interiors can scorch up during a hot day. i know herm and me got 5% tint, like limo tint, dark, real dark. i am gonna go up to 15%, which is a hair lighter, but i'm doing a lot of night driving and 5% is no fun. here's 5%....

    image

35% is legal limit here, but...it all depends on what car you have. on a honda, yea theyll give you a ticket for it and you have to take it off, i've been pulled over 6-7 times after tint and no one has said anything. it just flows with the car really. go LLUMAR! make sure you go llumar, its the best. it won't fade into that purple hue, and it keeps out 99% of UV rays. keep us posted with pics

love the car! i just got done installin my k and n, chroming the grill, and putting the side markers on. thrusday i will get the backs of the badges shaved and put back to where they were on the white one, behind the back door, and ill get my platinum +4's put into this car. i have to wait till my insurance check clears before i can order the wood kit and the duals, oh yeah, and i did my clock too..

it is the same as my white car but black, with light taupe interiour, same as 300michaels i believe. same options all that good stuff. 4500 miles on it. i had 9 on my last car, so its a few miles less.. i forgot to take the before pics put ill have pics up of what all ive done so far, tomorrow :)

well time to drive to the store to get some drinks. really, just an excuse to drive, may as well get some coke whiles im out lol.

Reading the copy of the order guide...quote on standard fetures for the 2002 "Special"

    "Headlmaps - High Intensity Discharge"

    "Supplemental Signals - Exterior Mirrors"

Let's pay a bounty to the first person on the list who can come up with the official MSRP and the build date of Retail Job One!!!
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
ill get the msrp and build date. (if its at all possible, i will at least)

300michael: okay to do the shift indicator thing do i just change out the bulbs to "two..something" or "bi something" i forget. someone told me all u gotta do is change to a certan kinda bulb. i guess im not sure. ur site is kinda hard to follow as far as not having a clue what im doing..

who was it that rewired the brake lights? can u (wherever u are) send me an email explain how to even get to the wires, and what to do? pleeeeeease?

maybe you could adapt those tail lights fromt the 2002 Altima to your M---I think they almost look like jet exhausts--like the clear lenses---

liked the sound of your exhaust ---a little louder than some of us would like, but it definitely makes your M stand out from the crowd--you can really hear that free flowing exhaust--you should be the Indy Pace car---

PS: those six or seven times you claim you got pulled over---did they write you up or just give you a warning--did the cop comment on your car--

Thanks, but there's no "u" in neighbors.
  • sirharpersirharper Member Posts: 112
Don't piss otto off! He makes our cars. If he wants to spell neighbor or color with a u let him! If he wants to call the letter Z "Zed" so be it. If he says eh! No big deal. But when he gets a cold one the jokes really on us because he has REAL beer!!
  • traleytraley Member Posts: 64
MRL859, jUst to help yoU oUt, there is sUch a word as neighboUr. So, next time grab yoUrself a dictionary before yoU go pUtting yoUr foot in yoUr moUth.
  • silverbullet4silverbullet4 Member Posts: 449
Hi Otto. Thanks for putting up with us, although in your line of work I imagine a sense of humor (humour?) really comes in handy when the pressure is on.
  • ottowrkrottowrkr Member Posts: 778
Neighbours spelling is correct if you live in Canada. . We Canadians use a combination of spellings used by the both the British and American people . Colour - Canadian spelling, Americans spell it color..... http://www.luther.bc.ca/~dave7cnv/cdnspelling/cdnspelling.html for a complete guide to our different spelling. Regardless of how we spell it ,it still carries the same message -Have a great Fourth of July .
  • mikeyjohnmikeyjohn Member Posts: 365
From another Canuck. Have a great day America, and there is a sign at the border crossing at
Blaine Washington that states "Brothers of a Common Mother" and I think that pretty well says it all. Have a great day EH!!!!!!!

HAPPY 4th of July all. Enjoy this time with family and friends. Since you all are friends, save me some BBQ, cuz I'm coming over!
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
i will use small works in saying happy 4th of july in fear i may spell something wrong, and we can't have that! Have a good day everyone, be safe!

I finally drove at night with the Eaglite Xenon bulbs. I can't really tell a difference in pattern, but they definetely cast a blue hue. High beams look very yellow compared to them.
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
well, i found an unopened smokers package in my trunk. even though i don't allow smoking in my car, i think the doors look better with that hole filled with it. and hey, a lighter too. you never know, one day i might need that!

I've seen you've guys have become interested in the ProwlerPro stuff. Here's some extreamly usefull info for you guys.

First you can get the same gears for cheaper here:

    http://www.prowler.ws/

This place calls them "G-Force Gears" but it's the same thing.

Also, this place is the one stop shop for all things Prowler. They've got Cams, NOS, Ported heads.

i got hit by the speed sensor bug, DAMNIT!!

man i'm so upset, this stuff isn't supposed to happen to us. 2nd gear nonsense, it even stalled a few times. i really think this is more than a coincidence. for all the guys who have had faulty sensors, i would bet that we all have our cars built around the same time period, early 99'. anyhow a fun stalling trip to the dealer will be fun tommorow...
  • tucsongiltucsongil Member Posts: 116
I have never seen James Bond limping around in second gear!

Av stuck in second gear is like John Force not making it to the championship round! It just should not happen and it is hard to imagine!!!!

I guess like AV told me via IM, he is now "stuck" driving his Dads Benz! Tough luck Av! *_0

Those prowler gears are ok for racing nuts and performance fans, but my M is fine for everyday driving. I prefer to get better gas mileage instead of faster quarter mile times. And I'd rather have my tires last longer without the gear change. But some of you , I'm sure, will do the mod for better performance. I'll wait for the 300M special--not sure I like the two tone treatment though--are they all going to have the two tone --also would be concerned about scraping the lower extensions on bad roads---I would expect the ride would be much stiffer than my nonPHP M--
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
u got it easyrider, its haven for gear heads, for the guys who bought the car for an actual family sedan, its just a waste of time and money. quite understandable. i wouldn't expect someone with a family who takes the car out all the time to shave off door handles, would be pointless and inconvenient. but for me, a solo driver, and a gear head, i luv it.
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
i wanna graft in some new tailights. i can't help it i love bodywork. i was lookin at the Lexus IS300....

    image

but i'm still looking, those maxima tailights wouldn't look bad. and the ones off a Skyline look good too. gotta go with the circle or vertical oval look, it fits the car well....imho

  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
    many many suggestions welcomed....
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
should we do something about this? just 2 days ago someone posted up about a faulty speed sensor, and guess what, i got 31k on the car, he had 30k. hmmmm...not a coincidence. jason what was your mileage when it happened? this is a fist year glitch, has to be, seems like the only ppl it happed to haev 99's.
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
that or the only ppl that have reached 30k miles own 99's..
  • sirharpersirharper Member Posts: 112
Glad I have a late 2000, no speed sensor probs yet but only 4500 miles so who knows!!
  • sirharpersirharper Member Posts: 112
I was going to turn my 300M into a HotRod but then I thought...why? By the time I sink in the dollars to do it I could just start with a clean slate (Dodge Neon ACR) under $13000. Which will damn near beat my M coming straight off the lot anyway. Then there is the issue of performance parts...there are SOOOO many options for neon and only a handful of my M. If I blow in engine in the Neon I would rather pay $4k rather than $9k to do it...NOS is no problem in the Neon there are alot of options!

To this day I still consider my 95 Plymouth Neon the best car I've ever had. I know that I probably just haven't "bonded" with my M in only 4500 miles so far but damn that little Neon went like hell!! Plus, there has been so many improvements since I had mine.

So I figure why ruin the road manners of my M? Besides, theres nothing better than kicking some VTEC butt in car most of those punks think stands no chance against them!
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
i cant stand neons, or mustangs. i think its cuz i see so many of them around here, its outa control.......
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
the 2002 Altima tail lights get my vote--the Lexus are nice too, but the Altima's are better IMHO--if you want vertical oval--just turn the ones you have--The altima's look great even from the sides---
  • lonestarsledlonestarsled Member Posts: 226
I agree that the lh platform is lacking in performance options. The prowler gears just confirm my statement I made about 2 months ago that all engine & trans mod products for our cars are going to have the prowler premium price markup! You know, for people that have deep pocket books and can afford to pay $60,000 for a car that has an MSRP of $40,000. $1,300 for a glorified timing chain and gears is CRAZY!
  • traleytraley Member Posts: 64
Na, man. That 30k theory was cool, but I break that model. My car had the sensor problem after 3 months of having it. I don't remember the mileage, but it was under 10k.
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
ok you broke my theory. BUT....what about this....chrysler just has some screwed up sensors....can't deny that
  • lonestarsledlonestarsled Member Posts: 226
The prowler folks have problems w/speed sensors also. Especially the input sensor, they claim they break down to prolonged heat exposure.
