In my opinion, those wheels are not that great looking and surely are no match for the chrome Razorstars beauty. Not just that, but to me, not many other wheel designs some seem to choose look good on the M. I have to say though, at first the new wheels for 01' were just ugly, but now they have grown on me a little. As for those TSW's, they look like the wheels off of the 300M Special--wheels that I do not like. Well, that's just my $.02

tucsongil- I read up on those Michelin Pilot Z4's and they sound awesome! Thanks for the advice too. What exactly did you mean by "two of your tires being prorated and the other two being $180"?

Thanx, we're having dns problems so can't mail out for the time being. BTW where did you order from? I have a feeling that the rip off artists here in paradise are going to forget there's a decimal point after the 11 in 11.75 8-)

Well I just called our esteemed parts dept. and they quoted me 25 bucks each special order. No wonder I by my cars on the mainland 8-) . So Russ can you give me a place to call in the lower 48s 'cuz even with shipping and handling it won't add much. Thanx again!

fuzzy..... I'm happy to know that the 245/45-18's (if I understood you correctly) do work fine for you. That's one of the sizes I'm considering. Do you think that 245/45-17's would have worked well if you had tried them on 8" rims?

beach.....I guess everyone has their own preferences. I never have liked the Razorstars much.
I DID like the wheels on the 300M Special, that's why I picked the TSW Imola wheels in the first place! Oh well.......

Well, one's on the way. Does it matter much where it is in the trunk or which direction it points -- up, down, toward rear seat, from corner, etc.?

positioning is everything. it makes HUGE differences where you put the sub. all you gotta do is experiment for like 10 minutes. its so compact its much easier to do than a 200lb sub box. just move it around, sit in the car, and listen, move it again, listen, those positions you listed are good places. oh, and windows up and down makes a difference as well....

ok i went in today for my speed sensor, limping there the whole way. in addition to being called son by everyone and "kiddo" by the service manager, i had to leave the car there. they are always busy, but they wouldn't even give me a loaner! "all booked out" nice 5* service. so i sat there for 2 hours, talking to my friend and getting the inside scoop on the DRBIII scan tool. did u guys know that the factory alarm is already wired into our cars, and then whether we decide to pay for the option, they just hook on that scan tool and program it. but physically its always been there. anywayz...wouldn't this be considered an emergency situation? i mean i had to walk home, 6 miles, it sucked. the last mile a friend picked me up. she's trying to squeeze in time to fix it she said. its funny tho, we got toyota's, honda's, even Ford and GMC, and all of them treat you better. the mercedes dealer is just awesome, they get you food and everything, lol.

Just tonight, I noticed that on the top of the steering wheel, there is a hard spot with some lumps and crinkles. It feels just like it was melted by something really hot or is just falling apart. I know fuzzy had something wrong with his and put a wheel cover on it but any ideas? I tried to take a pic but it was too dark and not in focus. I'll post one tomorrow. It's about a 2" section at 12 o'clock on the wheel.

Why not go with 245/50 17"? They are the same size as the stock tires and will fit on the stock rims (widest possible tire) This is what I am going to do. More grip and the ride will not suffer as much.

Get off my yard! heh. Nice M. :)

Here are a couple of corrections I would like to make.
    1. The tube can be connected with out taking the car half apart. Just loosen the clamp on the T/B and the top part of the air box. The whole thing will come right out. The tube can them be connected up to the T/B. It took me 7 minuets to take out the old system and install the new one.
    2. On the instructions Page 2, #9b says to cut off 1.75" of the breather hose. Do not do it. Just pull out the hose and put it back in reversed (that way if you ever decide to change it back you can) It fits great. I will post pictures tomorrow when there is more (Moonsoon storm right now) light. The exhaust tone is a little louder now. Will test it tomorrow.

The 3157 is the size (base and connections) the letters following are to denote type of bulb, like Long Life, 3x life, xenon, or colored.

Looks weird I was thinking about having the dealer look at it and replace it for free. I don't know if they'll do that but I don't drive with my hand at 12 o'clock enough to have it wear out like that so it must be a defect.
  • russklassrussklass Member Posts: 389
Well, I guess Paradise has it's price!
    I bought my emblems from:
    Towne Chrysler
    Hamburg, NY
    716-649-5200
Ask for Chris, the parts manager. He knows me well,I have bought 12 of those emblems from him!

Beach-I have two Badyears that are defective and will be pro-rated base on the amount of tread that is left. Then I get credited towards replacements. I will have to pay $25 each for the two replacements base on the pro-rated life of defective tires. I would then buy two tires at $180 each to make a set of four.

Two LS are still good, but I will replace them too.

Lynn-Michelin makes the Pilot XGT Z4 in 245/50/17(Tirerack lists them but they are out of stock of them. Discount tire direct.com doesn't list them but their retail stores lists them but do not stock them(?). I thought about using this size before I ordered the Pilots in 225/55/17 but I have a fear that under warrenty work a different size other than stock could be used against me not to do work under warrenty bases.

BTW, the Pilots I order will be in today since Discount tire warehouse is the Discount tire direct.com warehouse. Since the website does not list/or stock the 245/50/17 Pilots they would have to call Michelin to check availability on them. The 245 are 0.8 inch wider than the 225.

I am beginning to develop some very noticeable scratches in the window tinting I had installed just 6 weeks ago at my local Ziebart. Three of the windows have developed one deep vertical scratch. I suspect that I may have been duped and they installed a cheapo film. However, I was wondering if there's something about the 300M's seals that may be a little rougher than other cars on tinting films? Any experience? Suggestions? Thanks.

All 300's get the factory alarm its standard equipment , so what are they turning off and on with the DRB??? a money making machine!!!
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
i only had my M for a couple months, but my tint was beyond perfect. what u need to do, is what i did. go to your dealer and ask them who they have tint their windows when they do get it done. then u know its good to go. myne looked factory done, never had a single problem. i could even roll my windows up and down the day it got done..
  • lonestarsledlonestarsled Member Posts: 226
I suggest that you go to the window tint forum in the accessories category of Edmunds. I do not recall seeing one positive comment about Ziebart. One person even stated that they would not let Ziebart install an air freshner around their rear view mirror!

Black Magic is nice too. They also have it with an applicator, not just the spray. That Mequires is nice too. I used to use them for my carwash, wax, etc. I order that Zaino, haven't used it yet. If it doesn't meet my expectations, I'm going back to Mequires

sounds like it is time to dump a truck load of manure on your dealer's place.

All 300Ms have alarm installed and enabled at the factory.

  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
actually i was thinking about complaining, but, they're human, they work just like us. so.....i cant expect them to come to my needs anytime everytime. there suppose to be coming out with some new machines this fall, that can do an oil change in 5 min, replaces litte things real quickly, so the mechanics can go on to the more important stuff. my friends worried about being laid off because of it.....

    BRING IT BACK!!!
  • ottowrkrottowrkr Member Posts: 778
These two vehicles come with factory alarm as standard equipment . l still dont understand what that dealer is turning on? .Now if hes talking about some base Intrepid or Concorde ,yes some have the basic wires in the car for the alarm but are missing the most important parts , they dont have the door key cylinder alarm switches and trunk key cylinder alarm switch. So these parts still have to be put on for it to work ,he can play with his DRB all he wants it wont work with out those parts.

Be advised that Meguires makes 2 different Endurance tire dressings.
One is a high gloss, the other gives a more natural look to the tires. It is called "natural finish shine" in the lower right corner of the box.
To my taste the glossy finish on tires is too phony looking. I much prefer the toned down black of the "natural" product.
Both are available with or withour the handy foam applicator.
A TIP: To prevent "slinging off" of the product, especially with radial-ridged tires, wipe the tires down with a piece of cotton towel and allow them to dry for an hour or two before driving.

to tell you what the two lighted (of course) rocker switches on the shifter bezel were for. one (top) turns on my aux driving lights. and the other one turns on my trunk 12v power (the other outlet is always powered) outlet, for my refrig located in the trunk. I have a new shifter plate and will be relocating the switches to another location.
  • 300mlover300mlover Member Posts: 132
I was just going to post about the slinging off of the dressing. Good thing though it wipes right off. I actually had some guy follow me to work to find out what was on my tires. I think I am going to buy a few extra bottles and keep them in the car. I already do that with Zaino. Sold 2 complete set ups in the past month. Helps offset my addiction to Zaino. Or at least fund my addiction!

Here's what the 300N test mule disguised as a butchered 300M looks like in the August 2001 edition of Motor Trend. Looks really strange, wonder what it's like to drive?! Look at that exhaust--pretty bad!! Now if they'd only keep a revised version of the M's style and marry it with the N's hot, new mechanicals.

Just looked at the Michelin website. They recommend several sizes of their tires for the 300M.
They say that both the XGT Z4 235/50-17 and 245/50-17 will fit on the stock wheels. They recommend 34 psi for the 235's and 30 psi for most everything else.
I've been told at tire stores that 245/45's are too wide for the 7" rims. Are the tire stores correct or does the XGT 245/50 work OK on the stock rims?
I think I'm getting more confused.

  • fuzzywuzzyfuzzywuzzy Member Posts: 958
My experience was with dunlop tires. So other tires might act different. General rule is if you go with a lower side wal(a 50, 45, 35 etc rating) you need a wider rim. So maybe a 245-50 tire will work fine, just not a 245-45 tire. There's only 1 way to be sure, & that's to try it. Tires are different.

Looks to me like a junk yard trying to rebuild a 300M with parts from around the yard.
  • ottowrkrottowrkr Member Posts: 778
those are the rims for the 2002.5 300M speacial . 245-45-18 rubber
