Scotian, mine is being installed by a top shop tomorrow. The manual that comes with it is pretty good, with pictures and setup advice.

What I need to know from anyone (show of hands?)
where is the best and easiest place to run the power lead into the engine compartment. I recall an ancient post about this, but memory fails me.
    Please help.

Just remember an important point that isn't in the manual...the auto-shutoff (it autodetects voltage for power on/off) takes about 10 minutes. My shop thought the unit was broken and installed a relay that shuts it off immediately. Cost me $25 extra unnecessary $.

After examining the pic of his rear lenses more closely, I am about 95% sure that is translucent red vinyl. I still want to know where he got the clear front turn signal markers if they are real because I'd definitely like to buy a pair, but anything can be modified with computers.

    Example:

Here is a pic of my daily driver '94 Accord.

Here is a pic after I had it in Photoshop for about an hour and made my own body kit, clear lenses, rims, tires, shaved handles, shaved antenna and tinted windows. This is what the car will look like (but a different color) in a few months after I get my Lexani sponsorship and Lowrider Magazine does their spot on my 300 in September ... this will be my girlfriends show car ... and of course it will have an air suspension too just like my 300. =)

Say M'ers, I know there was an earlier discussion about extended warranty
programs offered by a few places. I think the one affiliated with Edmund's
covered most everything on the car but the brakes, wipers, etc. Anyway,
the cost sounded reasonable since my '01 M has only 4K on it. Any of
you guys pop for a deal? I'd be interested in hearing pros/cons. I put on
35K-40K per year (sales). This is my first Chrysler ever. I've been super
lucky with my '97 Olds Bravada and other GM's but fear the unknown...

I finally got my new DSL up and running!!! Speed-o-rama!!! I've been connecting with a 56k modem usually at 28.8 to 33.6, but now I'm rockin'! My modem actually got zapped by lightning, waiting for a replacement. My co. is paying for the DSL (so I can work from home more efficiently. Oh, joy.)
My '99 300M continues to merrily roll along, 26k miles, no big problemas. Muy bien.
    Great car.
Oh, yeah. I hate the stock market. Loved it a year ago, though... :-)

Hey herrmdogg was your M parked at Kingswood Chrysler today? There was an M outside the service department with the very same rims as the ones in your pictures...just wondering!

Check out www.warrantydirect.com. They have very nice policies at a very competitive price. My 5* offered me a comparable policy to one of the warrantydirect policies but wanted twice as much. After I told them no about 5 times they finally came within $50 of the warrantydirect price. For the convenience of it being a chrysler policy I paid the extra. The site and pricing are a good bargaining chip.

Oh, I got an extended because I think 3 year, 36,000 miles is horrible coverage. My wife's minivan tranny blew up at 65,000 miles and the extended warranty saved us a bundle. They also covered replacement of the alternator and a couple of other things.

HEY!! Welcome to the FAST lane! ;-)) After a while you'll think that it's not so fast UNTIL you go on someone's computer that has the 56k!! Then you'll know you're zooming!;-))

Glad your car is behaving. Mine is super. Two trips with it to you know where! ;-)) Can't mention the name because I was told that some here find it "offensive" or whatever. Don't want to get banned after all these years. Think I've been here longer then most of the hosts! LOL... Should have taken Bonnie Rick up on the offer to become a host. Would have made sense for all the time I spend on these boards. If the pay was better, I might have seriously considered it.

    Glad you're still here.

Had to give the wing and hood scoop one more coat of primer and sanding. I will start color coating tomorrow morning. I am surprized no one had a commit on the new scoop (shown in primer red) this is a first. For those of you that came late here is the link http://community.webshots.com/user/my300m_ go to the scoop section. I will take another picture of it painted and then you can give me your feedback on which one you like better.
  • stevenw300stevenw300 Member Posts: 90
For what it is worth - in my opinion the 69 Mustang scoop is much better. In fact, it looks great. It follows the lines of the hood.

The wing's too big, and I can't get past the orange. How about this:
image (put a smaller wing on it)

you might as well do flames on the body to match the flames your planning to come out your exhaust pipes
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
For $5 each there are 300M stickers for your side windows, body, etc. They come in "etched glass", red, and another color. Do an ebay search on 300m and check towards the bottom of the list.
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
i don;t know denver, i was kinda happy with the orange. just with taht meetallic plat color it looks kinda good. u don;t think so? well duh obviously not..hmmm, im gonna have to do some doctoring i see...lol

Interesting post, especially the P.S. about no HP gains on cat back exhaust. I personally disagree, but anyone heard this before?

"I just talked to kenne bell. They are well known for their superchargers and performance parts. They tuned the pack west 300M that produced over 330hp (with a nitrous system).

They have a product called the optimizer II. It's a computer upgrade for the 300M. I called on July 17, 2001. They told me they are recording a 12hp increase on the dyno, but to call back next week when they are finished. They said you have to ship them your computer for the upgrade to be installed. The cost is aprox $390. Their # is 909-941-0985.

p.s. For what its worth they said the car is exceptionally engineered. They said that they hoped I didn't waste any money on a cat-back exhaust because they have tested them along with k&n air filters with a 0% increase in hp."

Thanks for the offer on the 300M emblem. Unless you can cut the flag off the 300 I am afraid I will get essentially the same result. My shears did ok on the end two numbers because there was a nice groove and not much contact area, but the shears couldn't get at the center number very well, so I tried the Dremel with a cutting disc, which really I was not skilled enough or experienced enough with to pull it off. If you can, I would be happy to reimburse $10 for the 300. My address is M. Brawley, 2529 Chatsworth Drive, Elizabethtown, KY 42701.

Forgot to post this yesterday. Drive/fly a little, save a lot. Huffman Chrysler in L-ville had an add for a "new" 01, loaded, PHP, etc.[no color listed] for $26.6K, off a sticker list of ??$37K. Can't vouch for the dealer, the "new" or the $37K sticker price [do they go that high on an M?], but that was the add. This is a big dealership which had 12 new 99Ms on the lot when no one else had any back in 98 when I got mine. I got the only one that my dealer in E-town got in for 3 months. I shopped there but got the "ole boy" sales tactic runaround so I walked. Luckily my local dealer got the exact M in Platinum that I was looking for two weeks later.

SDMike-I can't do a post with a pic but I can send one to you if you want and you can post it. I took some hard copy photos this weekend as I am working on putting the best 2 images on my checks. By the way, I was going to remove the dealers plate that has been on there for 3 years but after the debacle with the 300M emblem, I decided to wait for the meet in Detroit, for those who are more skilled.
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
take your M to the dealer and tell them to remove their advertising plate or pay you for advertising their dealership. ;) Worth a try.
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
heard you lowered your M---also heard you installed a new shield underneath---are you talkin about the air dam under the facia---is it shorter than the factory one and where did you get it. I scrape mine all the time and its now ready to fall off. HOw important is this airdam piece anyway. I think the front facia deflects air stream enough anyway. I may must take mine off altogether. I already tore my facia off once due to a high parking bumper and was lucky I could reattach it nearly perfectly.

PS: cant wait to see the 20's on your M, av

Mustang scoop - the Dart scoop looks too gnarly for a luxo Autobahn Cruiser IMHO.

3-1/2 weeks 'till Monterey. Looking forward to meeting everyone coming to the Monterey Rendezvous. Lets all keep our fingers crossed for no rain and no rolling blackouts.

Well, the insurance people say the 300M is unsafe. It gets ok results from the goverment, so is the 300M a safe car? After what I witnessed last night, I would say it is.

I was on my way home at about 1:20am last night. I was on the FL turnpike. It was raining, so I was only going the speed limit of 65mph. Up ahaed of me I saw another 300M. He was going faster, maybe 70mph. Then this speeding truck passed me. It was one of those box type commercial trucks. I was in the right lane, the other 300M was in the middle lane. This truck was also in the middle lane. He speeds up behind the 300M, doesn't signal, & passes the 300M on the left. Then all of a sudden that truck looses control.(the driver claimed he blew a tire) Then side swips the 300M as he passes it. The 300M looses control spins sideways does 3 full turns, flips over on the roof & goes off the side of the road! Now i'm like 1/2 mile from all this. I slow down, pull over & stop. I waited a few minutes in case a fire broke out. Then drove to the other 300M. As I pull up, I see the driver, his wife, & 2 young kids WALK up to the road. ALL were ok. The driver of the truck crashed into the divider, & was also ok. I wish I had my camara. Your guys would not belive how mangled this 300M was. Looking at it you would think everyone died. It was incrediable to witness something like this. The state troopers showed up like 15 min later. I had to give them a statment of what I seen. Based on that, the truck driver was sited for causing the wreck. All the occupents of the 300M were checked out by the medics on the seen. ALL were ok. The cops drove them home while the tow truck took the 300M. WOW! is all I can say. I suggest someone save this post incase anyone has doughts about 300M saftey.

Usually, a manufacturer does not spend an extra penny on anything extraneous. There is probably an engineering reason for the air dam. I don't know if this applies, but here is a possible reason. The late eighties Camaro had a similar piece on them. If that piece was gone, they would overheat at freeway speeds, as not enough air was deflected into the radiator. Just FYI. I'd be careful removing something like that.

I had a chrome monstrosity the size of my hand on my M. It was only attached with double-sided sticky tape. I was able to lift it by the edges and peel it away. Then I used a high-tech tool (my fingernail) to scrape most of the remaining adhesive. A little Zaino Z-5 cleaned it up, followed by the ususal Z1/Z2 wax. For more stubborn cases, Glide teflon dental tape can be used to gently saw the thing off. Some of the cheaper businesses use a decal or transfer. I don't know how to get those off without paint damage. Good luck!

    Hello:
Some posters were offended by the name of a casino??? Or by the fact that certain people occasionally frequent such establishments???
Anywho, even though I was cleaned out my last visit, I shall return!!!

of course you have a camera in your car--you're a lawyer-- ;-) you never know when you'll drive into an accident scene---if you were at the accident scene that Fuzzy saw, you would have a guaranteed client---I think everyone should carry one of those disposable cameras--next to the fireextinguisher---

I'll STILL be there! ;-)) Told you to look for a sub-compact puddle jumper! My eyes are always scanning the road for 300's! I'm always checking to see if they have dual exhausts. Then I know that it was someone from TH! ;-))
