Hey are you guys talking about the "Give to the Indian's" fund down in CT ? I also donate funds to the cause whenever possible... although I think they should be donating to the "Modify ajpiii's M fund"

Well today I went to fight my ticket and felt like the judicial system of our great country has failed me... Although the ticket was reduced from $275 to $175 I am rather disgusted at the moment. You see, the magistrate (or whatever he is) decided that he would have a conversation with someone else while I tried to tell my story... Then when I stopped to wait for his attention, he told me to continue, and when I continued, he decided to continue his conversation as well... He didnt listen to a word I said...

yea easy i dropped the 300 more than 2 inches with those intrax springs, i posted up pics i remember. the shield u gotta get! the front i jsut got remade a litte bigger, any good body shop can make a quick mold. the undershield if very easy to make. just get some tough plastic from lowes, and take out the shield, make a template, and wha-la. i'll take some pics since i gotta redo it form the accident. the piece is $178 from the dealer, what a rip off! the lower air damn, i wanna take it out, but the wind deflection got me scared, i hear its pretty important, but not real sure, i may try it out.....

Thanks for the advice, but with my luck/skill I will probably melt the paint with the hairdryer. I saw the nice set of pics either SDMike or Scotian posted on how to take off the letters, etc., and while this appears easier, I can wait til 17 Aug when I get up to Detroit or I may ask them to do it at my next Dealer service which is about 2 weeks away. My M leaves warranty on the 27th of this month but I have a plan thru my credit union that picks it up for another 70K or so miles with no deductible.

I have been on this board every single day, and from what I recall, you never posted a pic that really showed what your M looks like with the Intrax springs. The only one we saw was a crooked pic that mainly showed a trash can or mailbox with your car in the background. Post one if you can. By the way, how are they holding up? How much stiffer does it ride over bumps/broken pavement? Any vibration problems? How is the body work coming?

Yes, indeed, Mohegan Sun Charitable Donation Center is my M's favorite day trip. Although when I donate, I donate (relatively) large for me, I have received more than I've given the last few visits!
Nice drive for the M, usually at a somewhat higher rate of speed than the limit, yet I NEVER tailgate, dart in and out of lanes with no signal (as most Boston area drivers do!) or drive in the breakdown lane, etc... Pretty drive from Foxwoods to Mohegan Sun, also. Watch for the law in RI, though.
    See you there...

When you said "reset the computer" do you mean the engine computer (i.e. disconnect the battery) or do you mean reset the overhead console computer for new MPG measurements??
  • Options
    scotianscotian Member Posts: 1,064
I reset the overhead console. At the beginning it said I was getting up to 31.6 mpg, but it's settled down, now.

You're not going to believe this, but I installed my duals, put in the K&N filter and installed the Bosch +4 plugs and haven't reset my computer once. Is it that important? Is this why my mileage is still under 19mpg? If so, how do you do it?
  • Options
    scotianscotian Member Posts: 1,064
It's on the left side. You will probably need to have the avg eco displayed first.

I assume that the computer is simply dividing total #miles driven by total #gallons used since it was last reset, so it's remembering a lot of old data...
  • Options
    intrepidspiritintrepidspirit Member Posts: 662
Do you mean resetting the overhead console? If so, all you need to do is press the reset button (on the left side of the console) while the console is displaying the mpg. It will then begin a new period of calculation.

I can see why your reported gas mileage hasn't improved much... it's kinda like going 5 for 5 late in the season and having your batting average go from .250 to .253...with the reset you'll see what your current gas mileage is.
  • Options
    beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
Now come on, you mean you never knew about the reset button!? Kind of like never knowing the seats folded down! This might very well explain why you seem to always seem to be getting 19 MPG. All you have to do is push "Step" until the mileage is displayed and then push "Reset". Push the "C/T" button to go back to the normal display and give it some time to calculate your most recent mileage while driving.

While were on the subject, do you think there may be any other features you might not know about yet?!

LOL.... That's the one! I wish the state would donate to- REDUCE fastdriver's state income tax fund! I have NO clue what they are doing with the MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars they receive from these 2 casinos every year.

Yah, got that bad boy installed today. Will post pics someday when I get hold of a digital camera. How many BassLinks in our group now? The car was sitting out front and when I tried the radio the sicko installer had cranked the gain on the BassLink way too high. It took about 5 minutes of playing with the controls to get it reasonably balanced. Anybody got a favorite tune to show off your enhanced car audio system? I got a good buy on Ebay auction. I'm pleased with my first Ebay auction experience.

    Greetings Mers,
My wife and I, no kiddos ;-), took the M to Destin, FL last week. We had a great drive in the M, our first long trip. 1233 miles round trip with a side trip to Atlanta for a Braves game on the way back. Avg. 27 mpg for the entire trip. Drove down I-75 then over to I-59 the down I-65 to Pensacola, then over to Destin on hwy 98. Hey Dustin where are all the AL troopers? I saw two monitoring construction zones, that was all in over 700 total miles in AL. So the M got to stretch her legs a little from time to time. SWEET!!
Saw about 2 dozen different M's while down in Destin/Atlanta, got to card a few.

Quite a few of the M drivers were Moms with the kids (Dads musta been golfing) and a few older guys who didn't seem to have a clue what a cool car they're driving and weren't intrested in camaraderie. Oh, Well. Did get a thumbs up from about 3 other M drivers.
That may have been for our trip mascots, the red M candy and the green M candy plastic figurines in the package tray waving to folks as we zoomed by. So if anyone saw two M & M candys waving from the back of a Slate 99 300M last week it was us. LOL.

I did have one sour note though, gotta get rid of these frigging Badyears, ASAP. Come on tax return check, big daddy's gonna buy some Michelin Pilots!

If anyone's thinking about a trip to the beach soon I highly recommend Destin and the place we stayed. Henderson Park Inn. hendersonparkinn.com or thru abbottresorts.com
Awesome, (no kiddos, adults or couples only) for a 2nd honeymoon or anniversary! Plenty of other great and not too expensive accomodations for the whole gang elsewhere.

    Later tnsc_300m

I'm not a complete ignoramus. I know how to reset the trip computer. I've just heard several people talk about resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery...so the car can "re-learn" stuff.

    Yes, I did first night!
Broiled Red Snapper with shrimp and a shrimp sauce. awesome!!!
also went to Grazies, Harry' T's and the Veranda which was in the Inn we stayed. Fantastic eats!!!
the Back Porch was packed whenever we went so we never got in there.
    Partied at the Blues club.
No sharks but we did get an 5 -6 ft. Stingray swim buy and cause a scare.
Saw a silver 300M on I-85N in Alanta last Friday night thought might be you but no duals exhausts.

I've had my Basslink for about 2 weeks now. At first it was too booming but there are several controls to play with - gain, crossover freq., phase, etc. as well as location and orientation of the unit itself. Overall I am very pleased with it. It just may take a few days of adjusting until you get it set "just right" for the type of music you have. It's very compact, and I like the idea of the system being "all Infinity."

brought my car in for the second time to have the autoclimate control head replaced---would you believe they again ordered the wrong part--second time---I've been driving their supplied Cheep again--they told me to keep it through tomorrow and they should have the part in by then--over 24 hours without Lolita---I cant stand this cheep---feels like its gonna roll over whenever I take a fairly fast turn---and bounces like a yoyo---cheap interior, cheap looks, cheap ride--I hate Cheeps--well at least I get to rack up some miles on their car while the M gets a needed rest-----so much for my 2* dealer

Mike, you don' need no stinkin' hair dryer to pull off the dealer ad. Thats for the side letters.

Easy-I share your disgust for cheaps, which I have to drive on business trips when flying. It really is scary when you hit a curve at the usual M pace and the cheap's body rolls dramatically and the tires howl.

Yes it does serve a function. It forces the air to travel to the lower parts of the radiator. By removing it you cut down the cooling effencency

It seems my new baby (hood scoop #2) my be put up for addoption (sell on E-bay), if I read you guys right. I will scann some pictures of it (since I ran out of paint) to test it's design, before I cut it down to fit the car. I agree it is "big" but I liked the design better then the Mustangs.

the gain control is the primary animal you'll use to adjust the "booming". I use my basslink to make my bass richer, not necessarily to thump the wheels off the car. Put your dash bass control in the middle position, put on a typical song, and adjust the gain so the amount of bass is right for you. You'll be able to control it quite a bit after the fact with the bass control on the dash, which will allow for differences in your music.

It's nice. Try it. I also like the fact that I have an "all infinity" system.

After I adjusted the crossover and the gain, I listened to a lot of familiar music. The best was a BIG organ played LOUD by Virgil Fox. The piece was the theme from "Rollerball", also spracht Zarathusa (or something like that). The car was shaking with the sound of those huge pipes. I think I will probably add-on the optional remote bass level control, so I can experiment. My BassLink placement is exactly the same as 300mlover's (see post 5269 for his pic.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mike. I have an 11 year old boy and a 16 year old girl, so I listen to a wide range of stuff. They each get a button to program on the car radio. Whoever is riding shotgun picks the music. I rarely intervene-only when they are really bad musicians or singers. Bedtime for me. Later.

sdmike, 300michael: thanks for sharing tunes to enjoy. I went to the bagel store this am rocking with Bonnie Raitt-a real wakeup call! I'll ask my daughter to download and burn a CD with some of your suggestions. A "best of Beachboys" CD is available now at Starbucks-about $12. I think I'll try a discount store first. Try Moody Blues "Days of Future Passed", Eagles, any classical organ (huge bass!), Los Lobos (great musicians, tight sound). I like Steely Dan and ZZ Top, but have only vinyl and tapes.
    Back to work!

I'm sure this question has been posted before; however, I can't seem to find it. Here's the problem. When I have the lights switched to "Auto" (the "A), I get the normally dim odometer, radio and temp lights start to flicker to bright...then dim...then bright...over and over again. This has happened a couple of times in the past 2.5yrs, but now it seems it does it always.
Any clue or fix to this problem? I would take it to my dealer right away, but I'm over my warranty and wouldn't mind fixing it myself (if it's easy).

    Any help would be appreciated.

I belive it is a faulty switch. Mine did it a few times. It's helped by dimming the lights, & then puting them back to full brightness. The solution is to get the switch replaced. I don't know what's involved on that though.

others?!... Hey 300Michael..I thought I was the only Mer who liked Enya,a nd the others you mentioned! Been listening to a lot of Dance music (my youngest Lisa listens to this music in her NEW Jetta) http://www.shutterfly.com/view/pictures.jsp?aid=67b0de21b30440b0a443

Link above takes you to her photo album via Shutterfly.com

I'm also fond of Yanni, most 'new age' musicians, being a frustrated musician at heart. Recently got a software package called ACID, which allows you to build music with sound clips..drum beats, etc. Pretty cool stuff, for an ol' coot like me!

Found out yesterday that the S.O. will be having her knee surgery August 28th, and I'll be taking off THAT day till the end of the week. Was hoping she'd be able to do the Wall Stadium Speedway thing on September 1st, but it might be iffy for her. I may have to do it solo. Hope everyone is fine,

Mine did that one time and I couldn't get it to flicker again since. When I took it in for servicing I mentioned it to the Service Manager who replaced the switch. He said the switch was the trouble about 90% of the time. I haven't had any trouble since. You might try adjusting the intensity to bright to avoid the blinking.

you do NOT need a basslink if all you listen to is Enya and Yanni. Save yourself $200 plus the labor. :)

99_300m_ric_va - I have a 15 song compilation disk that occupies changer slot #1. Lots of Rage, Godsmack, Papa Roach, etc. It's for those days when I'm alone in the car, the sun is shining, the windows are down, and there is some reason to drive a little less conservatively. ;) In fact, when I beat that 3000 GT the other night it was to the soothing notes of Rage's "Know your Enemy". lol
