aimster is a blow, it sucks, go for Winmx... goto www.download.com, and search up WinMX. what i did was search up "File Sharing" and downloaded nearly every program then tested them all. i found WinMX to be superb...
see i listen to all hip hop and rap, so the bass is real good for that genre of music you know? sometimes i bust out the techno, and for that bass sucks, u just want a good focal setup. same goes for rock in my case, i listen to it sometimes like on the radio and stuff, and i really hate that bass, a club hit is nice, but not like thumpin. thats why i think the basslink is perfect for u sdmike. it goes perfectly with your fav genre of music. and u can still hear those basswave for miles
take a look at the Why American Cars unappealing board, first i put up my pic and caoptioned it.. "I LOVE DAT [non-permissible content removed]" but it got taken off, so i changed it
Don't get me wrong av, I listed to all kinds of stuff too. I think the other three disks in my changer are Peter Gabriel's Greatest Hits, No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom, and Cirque du Soleil's "O" Live CD. Quite a mix.
Well I am back from Las Vegas. Sin City or as I call it "tip city". The city that expects a tip at the end of every small detail. I lost about $100 in total(I would have been ahead but the jackpot I hit paid me 400 25cent coins. I would have gotten 1600 25cent coins if I played the max of three coins.). Also, walked passed a Roullete table and put $100 on black and won!(I never went back to play again!)
Mike the Mystere' Cirque de Soliel was great! I was about six rows from the front. I feel that if I was about fifteen rows back it would have been a better view with all that happens above. But, being in front was great when the two muscle guys did their thing and the one guy that hangs form the bar and has that metal cube around him and does stunts! My wife was in lust by the end of the show for the muscle guys!
Mike, I guess I owe you a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts(btw, they are $9 a dozen at Treasure Island). Never made it to the Voodoo Lounge at the Rio.
Now I need to go back about two hundred posts to get up to date!
Cool lights! I have always liked the IS300's taillights but no one seems to offer them for a 300M. One question though--the current lights fit a certain crisp contour of the rear (I think you know what I mean). They aren't lower down but rather fit along the top edge of the quarter panel, so how are you going to put in new ones so that they don't look wierd or out of place?
Everyone, I just went over to Ebay and under Chrysler 300M, the following slightly modded M was listed. It has a new exhaust, stereo, and a few other goodies. In addition, it has a strange black stripe on the hood. It's stone white with the 16" silver Medallion wheels.
Does anybody have any pictures of different locations as to where to mount the baselink? I just got it off of ebay..quick delivery, and getting ready to take to a pro shop to install..any suggestions? I need to have the truck available for clubs..(can't interfer with the golf game)..I originally wanted to mount it up under the rear deck betweent he 6x9's, and cut a hole in the carpet so that it could get some air..help
you don't need to cut a hole,,,just mount it perpendicular to the rear seats under the rear deck...out of the way and plenty of air for both the active and passive side...your entire trunk becomes a speaker. Remember subwoofers are non-directional.
I was just wondering if maybe you had forgotten about your Owners Club Aftermarket Accessories/Modifications discussion? That would be a great place to centralize these posts about the mods you folks are interested in, both for current discussion as well as future reference. (You know how hard it is to find a post in this discussion that is just a little short of 7000 posts which you just *know* you saw some time ago.)
I 'm thinking it might be better to reserve this topic for more general conversation for our members and lurkers to learn more about this vehicle, talk about problems they may be experiencing and get some insight, maybe find some assistance on pricing and that sort of thing.
No more tire squeeling on fast corners. and the sound levels in the car are even lower course pavement. I should have done this years ago (except the tires just came out), now it is even more fun to drive (if that is possible). I should enjoy my trip next month even more
I agree with you Pat, my way of thinking is that some of these mods take it away from being a 300M. I personally don't care whether we are #1 or last. In our own minds we are #1 regardless. I think this is great forum to welcome new owners and discussing common problems regarding failures, tires, pricing, waxes etc. and maybe a few mods like filters, woodtrim, as an example. Just my 2 cents.
I like some aspects of these taillight assemblies being considered, but I wish they were incorporated into the existing shape. But grafting a pair from another car would certainly set that M apart from the others.
well the lights have to be grafted in. basically we hack the rear end, custom make an assembly, put the lights in, and thenr rebuild the back to fit the lights. i'm still keeping the contours, i think these will look real hot

I didn't hate the Badyears enuf to get rid of them right off. Thought I'd live with them a while and go for a primo tire. We've had a very rainy summer, and lately I've noticed that if I get into it at all, the wheels spin. Tires have 18K on them and have been rotated about every 3K. Anyone have a similar experience? And, any recommendations for a good wet-traction tire? Tx!
I think it should be ok to post some mods and links to your websites on this forum--I think it breaks up the monotony of just discussing problems, repairs, etc; But I also think you should load up that new 300M mods forum with pics of all your mods and links to your websites. That site is for mods of the 300M only. So lets make that forum 'number one" so all the other Edmunds users can see a real man's car . Lets show those LS, Gran Prix, Maxima, and Stang owners what the M is all about. Be sure to post lots of pics. Go to the link posted by Pat above and "START YOUR POSTINGS!"
Ok guys I picked up one of them Gtech Pro things...
I tried it out real quick on a heavily policed road (dont worry didnt get caught) so I didnt really let it rip... I only got a 8.36 0-60 time... whats the best way to really get the M to launch off the line ? I was just stomping it and shifting when it sounded like it should be time... but I know I can do much better... also whens the best point to shift ? What are some of your best times (for those of you who have the gtech)...
so Michael, tell us about your new tires---what brand, whats the speed rating, where did you buy them, whats the cost, how much quieter are they, etc, etc, etc,,,
Here is the link again: Aftermarket Accessories/Modifications - you can also get there easily by clicking on the link at the top of this page to the 300M Owners Club (just under the title above).
Give me your e-mail address and I will send you the rear end pics of my M. I finally could get them attached to a message, but I need an address. After that if you want to post them on Edmunds you can. I am going to go after the dealer plate this weekend to clean up the back a little.
achance--Right on about the tires. I have had these Badboys on my 99M for 31K miles, running at the recommended 32psi, and with 5 tires in the rotation, which I never miss. Every time it rains and I step down for a reasonably quick acceleration I feel the Traction Control groan into action meaning the darn tires are doing squat for grabbing the road. [It also does make me real cautious stopping in the rain and snow tho] I can't wait til I can justify to my SO the changing of these tires. Prez Bush send me my rebate!!
the Doctor! Was good to 'see' you some of you in the Chatroom last night. Was also checking the Tahoo Invitation for the Wall Stadium Speedway 300m Rendezvous 2001 coming up in September. So far, 9 people attending (4 m's and an LHS...). (The following is a flagrant attempt to more of us East Coasters to attend this event) Come on, east coasters, where's yer spirit? Sign up for whats shaping up to be a great afternoon/evening of meeting some of your fellow 'car nuts', obsessing about our cars and doin' some laps around the track! George D. has been hard at work lining up sponsors, etc, and planning all for a memorable event. (end of flagrant promotion....) Hope you all have a good day, drpixel/Glenn
lets see...we have about seven THOUSAND posts, the mods boards has six. this board gets like 30-40 messages a day if not more. the mods boards gets like...1 a week? i just wanted to post up all those pics here because this page gets hit a lot more by users than the mods board. but sry to hld anyone up, i know how it feels to be on a 56k (not for long muhahaah), but i won't post excessive pics anymore, happy pat?
see if you can get someone to post a pic of your the M's rear end---want to see that 300 on the brake light---Av--you should have broken up that post on the mod board into 4 posts so we can make numero uno over there---
I like seeing mods posted here as this is where I visit everyday---but I thought it would be neat to make the mod site #1 at least for a day or two. But it would take lots of you guys posting several pics of your mods to make it happen. Cant wait to see the lights mod, av and those diablos.
Got DSL service now. Download not a problem for me, but the old 56k was certainly slow. Off topic-Please enjoy your youth and freedom. My wife is so p----d at me for buying the BassLink she won't ride in the car! Heh! Her loss! Silver
Gil - Glad you had a great time! I should have recommended to you to sit back further but I didn't think of it. Sorry about that. At least you didn't harassed by the "baby" or the "professor" in the front row!
My wife informed me yesterday that she has made an appointment to drop the M off on Monday and have them keep it all day. As usual, no dealer here seems to offer any type of transportation so she has a co-worker that lives nearby who will pick her up and then we have to go back and get it in the evening. She wanted me to print out and arrange certain things from this board so we can give the dealer information on how to fix certain things. Here's the list of what she wants the 5* to look at, please reply and provide any advice, TSB's, or other information relevant to the issue:
1. Engine makes a strange clatter/knock sound at start-up. This is in addition to the previously mentioned tapping lifters. When it fires, you here a clatter/knock reminicent of an older beat-up VW or Mercedes diesel. What could this be?
2. Transmission continues to slip and has the so-called "bump" at certain times. This has been going on for some time now but what can be done to help eleviate some of the slipping issue? ***In addition, while traveling at a steady speed and then attempting to pass a car there is another issue. Right when you start to press the gas just enough to speed up and get past, there is a dead spot where there the car hesitates and there is no power for 2-3 seconds. Then, you both hear and feel a very loud thud and a few bangs, the RPM's soar from 2,000 to redline. As you begin to get past, there is a few more odd feelings (thuds/bangs) as the transmission seems to be hunting and it then kicks into what seems to be the proper gear and you go driving away. I've heard of cars being a little hesitant to kick down in order to pass but this is kind of bad.
3. Leather (or whatever the heck it is) on the the steering wheel appears to have melted or worn away and is rough at very top of wheel. No ones hands are ever in this position while driving so I don't know what happened to it. I read somewhere on the Consumate 300M pages that things like this or discoloration will only be covered up to 12,000 miles. We now have 11,700 and are trying to watch in case this is true.
These three are the main things, but I think I may add in the shrunken stripping (I know, I know, it's still not fixed) and anything else I remember. It still rattles and creaks as much as ever but they couldn't help twice before so were aren't going to bother this time. Read through the list above and post any comments, suggestions, TSB's, etc. that may help. Thanks!!
Just to see, who here has ever been provided a vehicle when thet taker their M (or any other car) in for repairs? I know some of you have mentioned having to drive Cheeps as you call them, but if you aren't given anything, how did you get to home or work? I'd just like to see what you all say.
SDMike and Beach-thanks for posting them pics. Some probably feel its a little cluttered, but the dealer logo on the left side goes this weekend. I had the brake pedal pushed with a golf club when I took the pics, and they don't look quite as sharp as the photos--a lack of pixels probably on my Paperport scanner. I toyed with the idea of putting 300s on each tail light, but after the problem with the one I cut up I figured I'd be wasting some bucks on it. If I did that, then I would have taken off the right side 300M emblem on the trunk because it would be overkill on 300s. So far, people who have seen it up close while I have been parking the car have remarked about how good the 300 looks on the center light, and one other guy got the part # from me for the Winged Victory emblem for his 00 M. The wheel medallions do look nice with the black ring inside the gold. I was checking today to make sure they are still recessed enough that they won't get scratched up when I rotate next time. I think they are still safe by an inch or so when the tire is dropped, but I will warn them to be real careful when popping the disc to switch with the incoming spare.
Also, I was looking at a company that does racing stripes [www.superiorgs.com] and may add a 6"+2" or 8"+ 2" black stripe on the passenger side of the platinum M. There is a 2" space between the wide stripe and narrow stripe. If my Ziebart guy will agree to lay the stuff, and he can deal with the 3M clear bra issue since that is already on the hood, I may go for it, since it is a lot cheaper than what I figure a paint job would be at a body or speed shop. Take a look at the car on the right side of their site and visualize the stripe on the passenger side. What do ya think?
In the past week I have had the chance to ride in a friends 99' Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and another's 00' Dodge Durango. Here are how I think they compare to the M (not a very good comparison I admit, but just out of curiousity):
1. JGC Laredo 4x4 -Very good looking but there are just too many of them around. -Relatively roomy with a lot of easy-to-use cargo space. -Front seats are too mushy and not all that comfy but the rears aren't bad. -Rides and handles suprisingly like a 300M with added ground clearance and bigger tires--not bad at all. -Ride seemed even nicer because it is so quiet inside compared to our M. It had large Goodyear tires but lacked road roar like the M, and felt stable on the road. -Felt a little more solid and better stitched together than our car and well-insulated--both of which probably attributed to the quiet. Overall, not a bad vehicle at all and I can see why so many people like them but probably not for me. It wasn't vault-like silent but a nice change from the M.
2. Dodge Durango SLT 4x4 -Cool looking and still seems fresh. -Very solid feeling and well-built. I couldn't believe what the doors felt and sounded like when you close them, no matter how hard. I wish our M's weren't so clunky and loose even when you shut them lightly. -Nice seats, lots of room, comfy interior. -Smooth, creamy, yet firm ride that felt great. Also, very quiet with little noise other than the nice, subdued V-8 rumble. -Felt so solid and well-constructed without the smallest detectable rattle or little noise. -Over roads that would have the M flexing, rattling, and creaking away, this thing smothered it all. Overall, these are very, very nice and I enjoyed the ride. Most of all, the M would be absolutely perfect with a new transmission, and this truck's extremely tight & rock-solid feel and quiet ride.
Okay enough of the SUV's, try not to barf after reading this and go on lovin your M's!!!
My dealer doesn't provide a loaner, but they do shuttle me to work in the morning and pick me up in the afternoon (it can sometimes take a while if their shuttle driver is out when I get there). I think you should definitely bring the weatherstrip to their attention. Several of us have gotten it replaced with no questions asked, so why not get it fixed while you're still under warranty? Only problem is that they may have to order them, meaning you'll have to bring your car back for an install another day, but that's still preferable to wind noise or water leakage . . . .
Most good extended warranties will cover a rental car when the car is in the shop for a covered repair. My Chrysler extended warranty provides me a rental car during repair...even if the car is still under the 3/36 warranty. I think the ones at www.warrantydirect.com do too.
