I can't tell if your chrysler lettering is still on the trunk or not. I see something under the dealer badge, but it doesn't look like the lettering. What's up?

    Stripes: barf!!!!

Loaner: I usually drop the car off @ 8:00 AM for routine service, and walk down the block for breakfast. The car is usually ready when I get back. For any service requiring more time, the service manager usually gives me his car. They also have a shuttle.

if you are going for the smooth look. it like an donkey in a pack of cows, just shouldn't be there. it looks ok and all, but remember i'm going for that smoooooth look, and it was disrupting that.

Be sure whatever you choose has DOT numbers. Most cops never check, if you've got a trick ride they just might.

The street rodders are getting LED tail lamps. Notice the Fed Ex trucks, that's what they have now (and the Cadillacs of course). If you want the name of the company that sells them, I'll ask my street rodder friend.

The 300 on the brake light will look a lot better when you lose the other trunk lettering.

I especially like the winged emblem on the back...On the LHS we call it "standard equipment" !!!
  • toms99toms99 Member Posts: 252
I never had the vibration problems with my stock Badyears, but I definitely experienced the poor wet traction! I waited until about 30K before swapping them out for a set of Michelin Pilot XGT Z rated tires (about $800.) I should have done it sooner!!
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
like the 300 on the brake light , but I think you should shave off the other 300 badge and the stuff on the left side of the rear: another suggestion---put the wing over the lock area--remove locks if necessary (but install a pull to open the trunk in an emergency---

I get a loaner every time I need warranty service--4 times so far--just have to book a few weeks ahead to be guaranteed a vehicle-- I need a vehicle as I am on the road all day in my biz--If I worked locally, they would drive me to work instead but I would have to arrange my own ride back to the dealer--

they replaced my autotemp control head and blend door actuator but I think its worse than ever--example--today it was about 65 out--I had temp set to 75---overhead read 68 and the upper vents were blowing ice cold air---I dont think this is right---guys: does your climate control act like this or do I have a legitimate complaint--that makes 4 times for the same problem---my writer usually remarks about problems insinuating its me and not the car---once he said: remember, its not a caddy or a lexus--how's that for 5* service-- I rate them 2*--they never send me a form to fill out about satisfaction cause they know I would not fill it out to their liking--

Beach--how many miles on the car---I think we all get a little bump with the tranny now and then--buy your may be excessive---if you are close to 20k you should condider getting a tranny flush--maybe that would help--also maybe they can reset the tranny chip to help solve it. Definitely do the weatherstrip--they replaced all four of mine and they are now fine although I have a ripple on the plastic trim on all windows--

Engine noise: dont have that prob on my M with 20k on the dial---I do notice what sounds like a very faint ping on acceleration though--I may switch to 89 octane to see if it helps my low mpg and cures the ping problem--

anyone else notice a slight pinging noise on acceration--

other that some small probs, my M has been satisfactory---I think I will be changing the tires to the Yokohama Avids (only $88 each from tirerack--I had them on my Mark 8 and they also have a great writeup and user comments on Tirerack

    Beach:

That rought spot on the top of your steering wheel might be from the hot sun. My wife has damaged two steering wheels in the hot Tahoe sun.

Overall, how do you like your 300M? What other cars did you look at? Any specific options you would recommend? Anything to be avoided?

Thanks for responding on my comment about the loaner cars. The closest dealer is about 15-20 miles away from where we work and live but no matter what we try or ask, they always say that they offer "No Loaners". Now wonder last time my wife was there at 9:00 in the morning the relatively large waiting room was already overflowing with people and nobody was to be found at either of the service counters.

Anyone else here- If you could, please read our list of issues in post #6896. Some have already commented, but is there anymore insight into the engine noises and transmission problems? Thanks again...

nice looking duals!--which tips did you use--are they stainless or chromed--are the mufflers stainless--how bout the pipes you used----yeah, I gots to get duals too at some point--maybe a little closer to warranty expiration---

The M deserves duals--too bad Chrysler skimped--
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
who did the cutout---you or the installer
  • 300mlover300mlover Member Posts: 132
All stainless (mufflers, pipes, tips) and I did the cut out with a Rotozip. The tips are solid stainless and nickle welded. They are from Meggs

    http://www.banzaisports.com/megs/dual.htm. And the sound.....WOW!!!!

I just got rid of my Badyears. I got Bridgestone S-03 Pole Postiions. They are the stock size and are Z rated. My ride is much quieter now and the wet and dry traction is fantastic. Tire rack has an excellent write up on them. I purchased mine through Discount tire, (they were over $30 cheaper then the Tire Rack. The cost is $170 a tire and they are worth every penny. The Goodyears complaned every time I took a corner and were lousy on the occational rain stormes we have. It rained a little yesterday and I had a chance to do some wet driving. These tires handled better then the goodyears did on dry roads. I will be taking my sound meter out tomorrow to do some real testing.

Those tips look awesome. How much did they cost. How much did the whole thing cost?

    Stock 300M I got 7.78 average time.
    temp 102 humity 7%
I just put the car in drive and stomped on it. I use a local interstate (at night with no traffic, and hopefully no police) where I can stop and use it as a drag strip.
This was before any of my mods.
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
what is the outside diameter of those tips---what brand mufflers did you use---where did you get the pipes---congrats on a great looking setup
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
I did that this afternoon... it was raining and I didnt get much traction at first, and had the trunk loaded with heavy things but I still managed to get a 7.6... cant wait to try under better conditions ! Im a stock M with K&N, a spring kit, and some Bridgestone Potenza RE730's... The Borla, Platinum +4's, and intake kit will be on the way shortly :) lets see if that drops any... :)

I recall you talked with Dean from ProwlerPro for an hour about his upcoming 400M. I was just wondering what kind of info he gave you. I think you said something about dual throttle bodies. When I talked to him he had only the gears and the NOS. That was back in March. I've been wondering what kind of progress he's made. The guys over at the Prowler Place have also made mention about Dean coming up with some strong Sheeet!

I've also heard that Mopar might, and that's a big might, have some stuff for the 3.5-liter engine next year(2002). This stuff might just be the go-fast goodies found on the 300m Special Edition, but it's still progress.
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
I was just going to order that 3" intake the Trep guys have, but if prowler pro has something better I might just have to wait and see... What did he say Av ?
  • aj_tomasiaj_tomasi Member Posts: 38
That 3" intake from the intrepid guy is awesome, He's working on some "Stage 2" version, is that the one your ordering?

American Musclecar just aired a show on Speedvision featuring the the Chrysler 300 Letter cars. It was great to see the heritage of our fine cars profiled. And yes they did a few minutes on the "New" 300 Letter series the 300M.
They showed a Black 2001 probably PHP car. The narrator and another speaker gave it some props. saying it beat all the other (older) 300 cars at a test track.
Also Showed the 2004/5 300C Hemi convertible, the gold one we've seen pics of. Man that car is beautiful in motion. Static pics don't do it true justice.
Very nice piece on the Chrysler 300's.
Speedvision progam listing for July shows it re-air's again soon, Monday July 30, 6:30pm Eastern, 3:30 Pacific. But check your local listings to be sure.
Hope y'all get to catch it.

I was just going to order the original one he made up that uses the stock airbox with a K&N filter, then the 3" pipe... I think I better ask him a little more about this stage 2 version...
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
    very nice dualies!
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
very cool effect on that picture. What program did you use?
  • 300mlover300mlover Member Posts: 132
Thank You! The tips are $99 each (I got them factory direct for $65) and they are single 2 1/2" in and dual 3 1/2" outs. Total of 7 1/4" accross. The front muff is a stainless Magnaflow and the rear is a stainless Dynomax. Pipes were custom bent on site. Total cost was about $650 (cha-ching) due to all the stainless. Oh and it is all nickel welded that was a little extra too.

It's photoshop 6. I was working on a project for a client and used this technique and thought "hey! that would look sweet on my car!"

Has anyone installed their Basslink using line level (RCA plug) inputs?
  • bigmike5bigmike5 Member Posts: 960
The Chrysler letters are still there on the trunk, the bright sun kind of hid them on the platinum. Any comment on the racing stripe question. See my last post and the web address to check them out. I may do it if my Ziebart guy will apply the stripes.

Saw a 02 M on a transporter yesterday. The front grill looks very cool w/ the wing at the top. Who will be the first on here to retro it to their car???

scotian-I am considering taking the high level inputs and turning them into RCA plugs to use the low level in on the basslink. I am having problems w/ the bass from the basslink cutting out at moderate volumes and hoping it is due to the high level input and not a problem w/ the unit. Plus it doesn't seem like the basslink has very good bass, it seems to bottom out no matter where it is in the trunk. It sounds as if the enclosure is just to small for the sub. Any one else having this problem?

    300Michael...

I decided to try the stomp it method today in dry weather, and I did muuuuuch better 0-60 in 6.93 with the 1/4 being 15.26 @ 95.9 MPH... I like this GTECH thing... I wonder if it would correlate at a track ?
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
Do you know if the 2002 grill would fit earlier models without modification ?
  • fuzzywuzzyfuzzywuzzy Member Posts: 958
Man mine must have been really broken(before it got destroyed) I never got numbers like that. Mine were always in the 8-9 sec range.
  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
Just from looking at the new grill on the Special, it is the same shape & size and would probably only require unscrewing the old one and putting in the new one. Why you would want to change the great grill on your current M to one that makes it look a little bloated and out of balance is beyond me, but you decide. Then again, maybe it looks better in person than it does in the pictures?

300mlover- Nice duals, they make the rear of your M look even better than before. A little pricy, but probably well worth the extra for the stainless steel and the special welding.

aj_tomasi- Would you do that sketch look to a picture of our M if I emailed you one? What's your email address?
  • silverbullet4silverbullet4 Member Posts: 449
Thanks for sharing your testing data. I would be very interested in a final results table, showing the times after each modification. Not much has been posted on this board to prove actual performance gains from any of these sometimes expensive changes. It doesn't matter if the absolute values are slightly different from the GTech results. I want to see the relative results. What mods did you make to the engine/exhaust before this test?
    Regards, Silver
  • 300mlover300mlover Member Posts: 132
Thanks. Yes it was a little pricey, but the quality is A-1. And that is what I am all about!
    Another look

  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
The only differences I have are the K&N Filter, the Springs, and the 245-45ZR17 Bridgestone RE730's... I think the springs, and the wider tires help a bit getting off the line...

the 6.93 was on my way to work this morning, I want to make a few more runs to see where the average might be... I might pull out the golf clubs & Subwoofer I have roaming around in the trunk... Maybe I'll skip lunch too... lol gotta lighten the load :)

Cant wait for Craig's Borla to get here. Im wondering what kind of a difference that will make...

I should have never watched the fast and the furious...
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
Umm how did you destroy your Gtech ? Run it over ?
  • silverbullet4silverbullet4 Member Posts: 449
Better be careful. The speaker level audio signals may be higher voltage than the signals from the head unit. You could exceed the dynamic range of the input circuits, causing clipping, or even destroying the amplifier. If the input is DC coupled, any DC offset from the speaker level signals could also cause bad things to happen. Without any specs or circuit diagrams, I have no clue. It does sound like you have a BassLink fault. It should be in warranty.
    Good luck, Silver
  • scotianscotian Member Posts: 1,064
Shoving speaker-level power into a signal-level input sounds like a really bad idea.

So, has anyone installed their Basslink using line level (RCA plug) inputs? If I'm lucky, I might be able to test it this weekend.
  • fuzzywuzzyfuzzywuzzy Member Posts: 958
Ahh, your tires are smaller then stock. About a 3% difference. That's why your numbers are low. Your speedo would be off too, meaning the Gtech would stop timing before you really got to 60.

Lets just say my Gtech had a mishap, & leave it at that :)
  • fuzzywuzzyfuzzywuzzy Member Posts: 958
If you use a line output converter, there will be no problems. But on the bass link there's no need for one because it has speaker level inputs. I'm using a line level input, because my big amp only has RCA's. I connected the RCA's to the converter, then spliced the wire ends into the left/right signal of the rear 6X9 speakers. Again on the bass link it's not needed, nor would you see a difference. However, if you had an after market head unit, you would be better using the RCA's. Then you would need the converter.
  • sirharpersirharper Member Posts: 112
I saw fast and the furious too and got the bug. The Borla is being installed as we speak and I will give a full report upon completion. I also added a custon cold air induction system simular to one I saw on here (don't remember whos it was). I figure that added 3-5 HP. These will be the last mods to my M however. I will be turning my attention over to a new Neon ACR that I ordered as a project car. I'll have that [non-permissible content removed] up to 300HP just watch. Performance parts for the Neon are bountiful and I can't wait to crush these rice-grinders crusing my area with it!!
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
i think when fuzzy saw the gtech numbers from the m he got mad and threw it out the window. :)
  • denvermdenverm Member Posts: 358
300Mlover - did those tips require that the existing fascia cutout on the driver's side be enlarged?

I seem to recall that the custom tips sdmike installed did require this, or am I wrong there?
