SDMike - great website!!
The cost for the closest comparable plan from Chrysler is $1000 more.
Chrysler is a "Named Component" plan meaning that if it is not listed in the plan, it is not covered. 1source is an exclusionary plan meaning unless it is in the "not covered" list in their agreement, it's covered.
Chrysler starts the extended warranty from the original in-service date of the vehicle, not when you buy the warranty. Therefore the first 3 years are a freebie for them as the normal warranty is in force anyway.
The maximum duration they offer is 7 years from the in-service date whereas I got 5 in addition to the regular warranty for a total of 8.
I am not limited to just Chrysler dealers for service. Damage from overheating is covered, macphersen struts are covered, batteries, emissions, seals and gaskets...etc.
Looked at various websites that "rate" extended warranties and they consistently came out on top.
Hope this helps.

What price did you pay?
Also, a question for all. I have the original Goodyear LS tires now but two should be replaced soon. Would it be ok to run two brands of tires? Say two new Yokohama tires on the back and the two semi decent Goodyears on the front?

What is the average amount of mileage you getting on a set of tires (17"s)?
looking forward to a quieter better handling tire than the badyears.
Also, what pressure are you running?
$99 each in SoCal at Americas tire
The right front door shows #1 as light blue/black tracer, #2 is light blue/red tracer.
Anybody has experience with 1source? Good & bad?
Or,are they copyrighted and property of DC? lol
Keep up the good work, you sure do keep it interesting! Beats the hell out of watching summer reruns.
The 2002 FSM shows a 3 cavity plug, but says the wires should be in cavities 1 and 2, when in reality cavities 1 and 3 are what's used.
But the rule Wire2 states is still correct. With the end of plug facing you, index ridge pointing up, and the locking tab (shark fin tab) down, cavity 1 is the one on the left and 3 is on the right.
do they include free mounting and balancing at the sacramento store--its says something about free balancing on the site?---I may see if they will ship them to MA---great price $85 is a steel for a v rated yoko--maybe I will be installing new tires earlier than I thought---the goodyears are starting to get slippery even though I still have a fair amount of tread left---definitely have to replace before next winter!
Whats a matter , Mike---you didnt like my email?
Hey...I have a good friend in Sacramento that might be willing to put 4 tires in a box and ship them to you if there's something in it for him. The operative word is "might"....shipping tires has got to be a pain in the rump. Even if the tire place charged you $50 for shipping it's still a great deal...especially if they don't charge you tax.
funny you found the same Sacramento site---I was looking at the retail outlets since they dont carry the YK420 at discountdirect. I just clicked on CAlifornia and then picked what I thought would be a large city. I clicked on Sacramento and saw that $85 price and I thought- oh only $5 less than tirerack (they have the Avid). But this looks like a much better tire ---longer warranty (65k), better tread pattern for wet weather, higher load rating, and probably higher inflation pressure capable, and its V rated as opposed to avid T rated--so you can use them at higher speeds and they would probably handle better around curves due to stiffer sidewalls.
I sure wish they were near me as they also mount and balance them for free. Also free flat repair and valve stems. Such a deal
I also noticed higher prices at all the other dealers. I saw prices as high as $129 for the same tire that Sacramento sells for $85. I want em. I dont understand why the mail order outlet for Discount Tire doesnt sell them.
I am gonna call them today and see if they will ship them to me. I doubt it but its worth a try-eh.
Has anyone changed their antifreeze yet. It doesnt call for a change till 100K but that seems too long to me. I would think the corrosion resistance would dissipate well before then. I had planned on changing it by 50K but may do it sooner now. Or maybe dealer will cover under warranty due to color change.
I changed the anti-freeze at 2 years per the 99 owner's book maintenance schedule, and found out after they drained it that it actually had 100K stuff in the system. Dealer split the cost of the replacement fluid cause they said they should have noticed what was in the radiator before the opened the drain plug. It was about $36 to change the fluid as that 100K stuff is slightly more expensive than the older stuff.
tires--If you want to go bigger on the 17 x 7 rims there is very little product out there. I have gone to Goodrich Comp TAs in H rating, size 245/50-17. Like the look and the cornering but have had a problem with one of them losing air [tire place says there was corrosion on the rim bead of the Razorstar--we will see on that, I need to check pressure on it this weekend as it is in the spare well right now] and a brand new tire from the spare was going on the front in a 5K rotation and the tire guys said it was out of round and they ordered me a new one [can't no one here make good tires?]. I can definitely feel the bobble at 50-60mph. In summary, would I go with the Comp TAs again? Probably not. I think I would eat the other $40 and go with Pilots.
I'm needing to buy new tires real soon myself and I plan to try this tactic--although I'm not the best negotiator.
Be aware--some stores and warehouses are out of stock presently and there is a delay. Not sure how long it would take but I am in no rush--I still have about 10K left on my Goodyears.
This is a great deal for V rated yokos. The web site tells me it has a 65K tread wear warranty but the stores state much less--like 30k to 45k. Go figure.
That tire has been around for about a year and a half. The tread looks very similar to the avid design but supposedly the grooves are better for wet handling. The thing I like is that these are V rated for less money than the T rated avids. Such a deal.
Even with the $71 shipping, I will probably buy these tires. This is a fantastic price on a great tire.
I called the local Sears and he doesnt even show a listing in his catalog. I think this tire is made only for Discount Tire stores.
I'd go with the Yokos in a heartbeat if they had a wider size that fit. I really like the looks of the 245's. We are on our 2nd set of Yoko Supper Diggers on our 4x4 and Yoko's are great tires for a lower price.
Ideally I'd like to buy 245/55's but not a big selection that will fit the rim width. Those Goodrich Scorchers (with the colored tread) come in that size but the tread is sort of strange -- although I see they now come with the tread stripe in "black" (what a novel idea). Didn't someone post that they had those on their M awhile back? (maybe it was on a different board)
My 36th and final payment at 0% financing is winging its way to Chrysler Financial. So, I own it! I was very pleased to get 0% 3 years ago, it was a deal! Now, everywhere you look 0% for 3,4,5 years!
1500 miles out of warranty, thought another window motor had gone and was getting ready to fight with my ?* dealer, but the window was merely "stuck." Other than that, all continues to be well. Still have the OEM Goodyears with (thankfully) none of the issues widely reported with '99s. I, too, will probably replace them soon as the outer edges are looking a bit smooth. Four tire rotation as I have a donut in the trunk...and I do look forward to a hopefully quieter ride.
I plan to keep this beauty for at least another 18 months (unless EMC & ORCL return to Y2K pricing levels...NOT BLOODY LIKELY! :-(( ), giving Chrysler a chance to knock me out with their next offering as they did in late '98 with the M. 3 years later and still as good looking (although now fairly common, at least here in the Boston area)as when we first met...!
This continues to be a fun, civil, informative board. I enjoy reading almost every day (must get a life... Too late. Married!). Wonderful car, my only ongoing misgiving is the (much) less than Toyota/Honda-like build quality. This is not to say anything has fallen off or is leaking, just some wildly divergent panel gaps. Only issues have been the standard ones: Two window motors and the input speed sensor. Did get the "light show" one day earlier this year, but it hasn't happened since (or prior, either).

Are we all on EDT now?
The V rated would have a stiffer sidewall so you would not get as much rollover affect that some users have noticed on the t rated avids. And its a higher speed tire. Such a deal!
Thanks
Kim
I am on the east coast, so I automatically add three hours to whatever timestamp I see. I figure about the time I learn to quit doing that will be when we'll revert to west coast times.
