A group buy can do much better than that. As I said, The Durango Club just got a 1200 bucks
7 yr etc. If anyone is interested I got the spreadsheet with various costs and options. I checked with my DC Dealer and they honor it. You take the vehicle in, they call a toll free number get the OK and it's paid via the Insurance Comp. credit card. In the meantime you call the rental agency and the same applies. From all the ones surveyed, and no I don't work for ANY insurance company 8:), they were the best. The best bet is of course if you have but a few months left on your DC warranty. We just got our "M" but the "D" is getting close so thereby the interest. Please e-mail me if interested in the Excel spreadsheet,

Looks like you'll be modifying the widnows next eh? Wonder if that's not a subtle ploy and you wanted to put in some exotic polymer based windows rather than the stock ones and were looking for an excuse 8-)

as for the tb, i guess i cant do it myself and finding someone to do it will be tough. im gonna visit 'music city rod shop' here in nashville this weekend, they're the authorized dealer for www.jetchip.com in nashville. im gonna see what all they can do there

av.... that hood scoop really sets off your car man, i freakin love it. i wanted to do it but the wife said it would take away from the luxury of the car, but i think i already blew that with the duals lol

Here we go again.. My 99 non php has 27K miles and is ready for its 3rd set of tires. The original goodyears were replaced at 17k miles n/c due to "tire disturbance" but now these are feathered and cupped. Running tire pressure at 35-40 psi, have had wheel alignment checked by three independent shops all telling me car is out of alignment , camber all running positive ( tops of tires tipped out away from veh ) Chrysler dealer is only one saying car is set to specifications. Customer assistance line is no help. Considering small claims or civil court. Alignment shops tell me the rear camber settings are not adjustable and will not touch the car and tires will continue to wear more heavily on the outside edges.
    ***
Any recommendations of how to get to a higher level manager? All i want is the car aligned properly and new tires. Last time the dealer aligned the car they had to "shift" the engine cradle. Has anyone else had this problem.. or any experience in escalating a complaint higher up the food chain at Chrysler?
    ***
PS, i'm in Phoenix Arizona . . . would NOT recommend BILL LUKE CHRYSLER !!

Has anyone used any aftermarket springs in their M ? TireRack has a set of sport springs which are supposed to lower the car about an inch to an inch and a half. I'm having wheel alignment problems, camber is half a degree on the positive side and shoult be zero or slightly negative. I've been told that lowering the car increases the negative camber and was considering this a "fix" in addition to better handling and looks.
    ---
No, my car has never been hit or on a frame rack. Can anyone relay personal experiences with using the sport springs or possibly post some photos of a lowered M with or without stock wheels?
    Thanks for any assistance... Mike

wow man, i had the SAME problem...got tires replaced, first time was front 2, next time all fours, happened again at 22k. i mean i do drive kinda tire burner, but i don't peel out at all. so i got a set of nitto 555, no problems at all, and that shaking that i went to the dealer over 20 times for, gone, completely gone. i really think it is the tires man, they do something to the car. but my dad had to do something like this....he went to third party, and request for them to right all specifications of the alignment, should be 8 numbers. then goto chrysler dealer, do the same thing rigth afterwards, make sure third party does not fix it beforehand tho. and there you go, thats what my dad did and went to civil court, and this was a benz dealer. its also VERY VERY helpful to know one of the tech's at both shops, hey can verify for you...hope this helps man, but afterwards, get some nitto's, or michelin pilot, i got the same car, 99, non php, those tires are the worst ever

dyadinc - I am assuming that you went to an alignment shop and they could not adjust the camber, if so then you will need a camber kit to correct this. The kit will give the suspension the extra movement needed in the direction of negative camber so that the wheels can be properly aligned. The spring manufacturer should have this, else try Eibach. This is a normal side affect of lowering the car.

I always said the M was a head turner, but yours would make the Exorcist dizzy! LOL... Looks GREAT! Thanks for posting the pics. Just looked at them all. I think you need "something" on the trunk. Can't wait to see the rest of the mods. How DO those back doors open?? Can you figure out a way to make the rear windows open ALL the way?

fastdriver, the back doors will be remote open. just a little keychain smaller than the keyles entry, one button for right door, one for left. Selanoid, ordered the kit last night. and the windows, no can do, window is larger than the well in teh back, it sucks, but it IS a family sedan so.....child safety.

next time you go in for some warranty repair at the dealers, go in with a straight face and tell them that you just realized that they forgot to put the rear door handles & locks on the car--the service writer and techs are gonna flip when they see that car--hope the mods dont hurt your warranty coverage though---

time to name your car and paint it on the trunk---"DeLorean's Dream" or "Back to the Future"---

LOL, ok i am seriously gonna do that. i got an appt. this monday for window motor. the back one i think they are gonna give me a headache with since i shaved the door handle. but the front they can suck it cuz i didn't do anything to it yet, whoooo hoooo. i hate that creaking sound and i know down the road it will develop into something worse. anyway, i was thinkin about putting my name on the car but.....a little lame for me, cheezy kinda. vanity plate? maybe.....

Just got the 300 back from my northern michigan 5*. 9450 miles and needed new rotors. Mechanic said this happens all the time, they aren't very good. They removed the side Chrysler lettering on the doors, really looks nice, but in need of some Z5 now. The chrome shifter looks great and <$40. When I get my shirt from Roger, I'll be ready for Detroit. Still love the car, and can put up with some of the minor annoyances.

When I first saw your hood scoop mod, I thought that it looked tacky and that you were nuts! But after seeing the end results I am starting to like it. Great work! Your "M" is radical!!! I feel ya man!!! I hope that you are not done? With your eccentric ideas, you just have to keep the mods going. Go! avalanche Go! You should use the mods that I plan on when I get my "M", I want to use the LORINSER body kit with the STARTECH rear end (Or I may wait on a 2002 SPECIAL???) Nevertheless, YOUR car begs for a...

I'm sorry to hear Bill Luke isn't meeting your needs. I'm in the east valley; I have been satisfied with the service from Earnhardt (both the Chrysler shop and the Dodge shop).

I have Eibach springs on my '99 w/PHP. (Eibach discontinued the springs; many complained about vibration. My guess is they didn't have the PHP.) I have slight feathering problems on the outside edges of the tires, but not too bad. I will soon go to Network Alignment and have them look at it. They are the guys who installed my springs. They are a chain, but I've been told that the shop in downtown Mesa is the place to go.

I have 18" wheels with 255/45ZR18 Dunlop SP-9000 tires. If you want aftermarket wheels, you must go to Wheel Specialists in Tempe.

Email me at grunschev@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

If you are having vibration problems, and your alignment is close to spec you need to match mount the tires. Especially the goodyears. This needs to be done using a Hunter 9702 road force ballancer. What the ballancer does is apply 750lbs of force on the tire while spinning it, this is equivelant to driving the car down the road on the tire. The machine then measures the run out in the rim and can show you where the stiff spot in the tire is (the spot causing the vibration) and where the low spot in the wheel is. You then break the wheel/tire down and match the two spots. Our cars should have no more than 15lbs of road force in any wheel/tire. I have seen goodyears that have over 30lbs of road force in them and even when they are match mounted to the low spot in the rim they still have about 20lbs of force. In a case like that you need to try to match that tire to a rim w/ a lot of run out.

I just might come out to the Monterey Rendezvous, that sounds like a blast!

Info on the supercharger. If you want one, you can order one right now ($5600 ) however this is not all there is to it. You will have to:

Replace your air box (not THAT big of a deal )

Change out all your engine brackets

    Scoop your hood

replace your drive train (the stock drive train will not take 380hp)

    replace your fuel injection system

open up your exhaust (if you want the power)

So basically it's just the prowler SC, but made to work for the 300. I have placed a deposit with a performance shop, and they are looking into doing this for me. Total cost, $11,000+

Now, this might seem like a lot of money to pay for power, but if this works, boy what a sleeper I will have! ;)

I will keep you updated as to the status of the SC. If all goes well I could have it installed by the end of July! :-D

    Have a good one,
    Mitchell L. Davidson

Avalanche, seems like an IP Stage II filter with the exisiting hose. How come you don't remove the resonator box to give you some more clearance away from the engine block and thus the heat? You might want to cut some of the body paneling in the wheel well to get more fresh air into the system. The Stage III will definitely not fit unless major mods are made. I would suggest you also reset the PCM as if not it will take 2-3 tank fulls to get your on-board computer to display accurately again. I haven't read up on the 300M how this is done, but on the Durango, you disconnecet the negative terminal of the battery, turn the ignition switch to run and leave it there for about 20 seconds. Reconnect, and you're good to go. You might have to reset your radio presets. Let us know how that air intake works for you. I defintitely gained some horses on the 5.9L D. Fuel economy should be better by 1-2 mpg, but too early to tell.

Get 'em offa there and get you a Chrysler wing. I think that's what I'm gonna do.

BTW, how long to get plates in CA??
  • funroadsfunroads Member Posts: 49
    Definitely ditch the badging!
I just took off my letters and really like the cleaner look. I'm close to losing the rear 300M as well. Maybe I'll touch up a photo of my rear end to see what it would look like completely clean.

I've got non PHG and am running about 30->32 psi in my tires. I'm curious whether the handling would be much better with higher tire pressure. It's just a little floaty as it is. Any of you non PHG owners run with higher pressure?
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
I got my original plates in about 6 weeks, but I didn't put them on because the temporary is good for 90 days and I'm waiting for my "BIGREDM" plate. Besides, they can't get me in those photo intersections without a plate. ;)

those kits are nice wldock, but not for 5000 bucks unpainted plus import fees. i talked to rogor a lot about this: i wanna design a ground effects kit, new front bumper, side skirts, and a rear bumper. that kit is badass and all, but only another 300m could truly tell the difference. and also with what i've got up on the drawing board, we can make an aluminum box behind a side scoop in the front bumper, and run a hose into the intake, talkin 20 hp from one side sccop, i can get 25-30hp from my hood scoop when its functional. but to make a ground effects kit, we need a molding guy, luckily i know one ;). he does great work, and is featured in Sport Compact Car, Honda tuning, and a few other honda mags. he does really good work, and charges really good as well lol. it costs him like 1800 to make, and he'll sell for 350-400 for bumoers, 150 for side skirts, but he needs 20 definite buyers. so we need to get together on this. i have been tryin to et buyers like crazy, every 300m owner i talk to at my dealership laugh at me when i mention the idea, pshhh, amateurs. if you want a badass look. this is the way to go....

Avalanche-- What size Nittos are you running and on what size rims? My 99 has 17" and I couldn't find any Nittos on the net in that size, but they said I could go to 18" rims--right. What have you got?
  • rogor2krogor2k Member Posts: 385
Funny TV news story a few weeks back on photo intersections and traffic tickets.

Seems the state sent a driver a ticket and a photo of his car in the intersection along with the description of the infraction (can't remember how much the fine was, but they asked him to send a check).

He sent them a photo of a check for the requested amount for the ticket.

They sent him back a photo of handcuffs!

Good to know someone out there has a sense of humor.

    Avalanche,

Do you have any ideas what the Ground Effects Kit would look like ? Sketches ? I think most people would like to see what the kit would look like before saying they would definately buy one... I for one am very interested, but would like to see what it would look like first...
