  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068

Well, I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Guess the link will have to do.
By the way, I deleted those threads with the failed pic attempts.

    Ross-
The mysterious photographer takes really good pics. No one has met him/her yet. But we do know that he/she owns a Silver Forester and will work for food :D

Great documentation. I thought the vehicle payload was around 1000 pounds. According to the door jam label, it's only 800 pounds! What's it say in the owner's manual, in terms of payload?

Just another service for those with short term memory. :-)

Normally, I would remove the multiples, but want the tech to see the time stamp on those posts.
  • ffsteveffsteve Member Posts: 243
So, after all that - what's the answer?

Oops...I forgot to come back and delete the extras. The tech's reply was "Weird". Basically, some server trauma happening at that time. Sorry for all the confusion!

Thats really too bad,but it could have been much worse, as long as nobody was badly hurt or worse, a car can always be replaced, a life cannot.

    Cheers Pat.

    very true.

so what happened, as near as you can remember? I know you have some autocross experience... what did you do just before you lost control?

    -Colin
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
What happened to cause this? I take it everyone is okay?

  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
Did you go front flip over or side roll?

Gives a good look at the drivetrain, fwiw.

    Colin-
We were coming down that medium grade bend. I realized the car was close to the edge/ditch (no shoulder) and did a correction. That's when I my rear broke loose. From the site, I saw I was at the edge of the road riddle with foliage, nuts, gravel...
anyway, the skid aimed the car towards the other side and trees. Manage to stir the car away from colliding with trees and thought I had the car under control and proceeded to stir out to my side of the lane (all this is happening very quickly). Here is where I noticed something odd about the scenery.
Felt the car tipping to my side. Steering not responding to turn towards the tip then crunch.

So... What were you doing with the pedals, that you recall?

    -Colin
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    no brakes...
I mean I did not engage the brake. I'm sure I'd eased off the gas but not off completely (4EAT).

    Glad your ok .
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Oh, argh, PAINFUL! Hurts to see that!

You guys OK? Did you both walk away? Looks like the safety cage held up pretty well (photo 1025). I bet you were "tripped" by the rougher texture of the shoulder.

    LOL, Papa Bear!

I call dibs on those rims! Just kidding!

    Ouch! Glad you're okay.

Ya, me and my girlfriend walked away very much intact.

    juice-
from ther skid marks, I'll say yes. :)

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    No real harm, then.

Did the insurance company total the car? Sure looks like they will.

I wonder if an OB with a moonroof would have held up as well. That really tests the structure.

    RIP:

I went out there with him yesterday to check it out and get his personal effects, and anything else I could salvage...

Car was a mess. Passenger section was intact though except for the roof. Not in too bad a shape considering ti rolled! I yanked off a bunch of stuff that my dad needed on his legacy, and Dave took his Optima battery, and HIDs and 6-disc changer/radio.

Too bad we couldn't get the rims off :(

    -mike
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Did they not allow you to take the rims? You should swap them out with a different (cheaper) set of rims on some other Subie. Aren't there a bunch in the family?

I wonder if the rear bumper protector fits on my Legacy, I'd have asked you to grab that.

    Oh well, RIP.

    You da man! Good thinking.

Bet you'll use it to entice me up to the Pine Barrens, eh? ;-)

When I get some free time I'll measure it up on a legacy wagon and see if it fits. It was only held on with doublesided tape.

    -mike
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Sweet, I can find double-sided tape no problem. I promise it would be put to good use! :-)

hope the bummper guard will fit.
Good to know that at least "Al Gator" will live on in Paisan's Dad's Legacy, uncle's Legacy, and your Leagacy. :)

You guys are like grave robbers! Not even cold and you're picking off the body parts. Seriously, glad to hear you walked away. In almost every roll-over I've seen, the occupants get out with nothing more than scratches, bruises and some sore muscles IF they were wearing their seatbelts. If not, it's usually a fatality. Buckle up!

  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    Len-
Would be a waste not to pick on a car that was near mint. ;-)
Heck, if mike (Paisan) had room in the Trooper, we might have salvaged those leather seats :D

Ya, those seat belts are lifesavers. Our butts were literally glued to the seat until it was released.

    -Dave
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
If I thought for a minute that the insurance would have overlooked missing rims, seats and engine, that stuff would have been in the back of the Trooper! :)

Dave, I just saw the photos, wow! I'm glad you're ok. I'm so sorry to hear about it. Man that stinks.

    Mike-
    Thanks for the thought.
Importantly, we're all OK. I still have some residual soreness.
Anyway, the insurance valued to car @ ~19k and I get ~18k after the deductible. Not bad for a 5YO car. :D
