stevek: go to Future Models, we're talking about that right now. Some love it, others call it too conservative.

Hey, at least the turbos are back!

I do think that Subarus are supposed to be form over function, in fact it throws me off that I find the 2005 Legacy very handsome!

I like em ugly :) So long as they G00000 :)

Well, we've seen what happens when Subaru tries too hard to make a vehicle look distinct (ie. 02-03 WRX). They're a small company with limited resources. I'd rather see them focus on their core competency of engineering by borrowing the looks from other vehicles and not the other way around (ie. Saab).

I agree, but if you gotta style it, do it right. I don't think it costs less to style an ugly car vs. an attractive one.

I can say is that poor Legacy must be in deep shock covered in snow and ice after spending its entire life in warm Texas:-)

      Cheers Pat.

Yup I took off the near-original wipers that morning cause they were a bit hard from lack of use!

update the gallery with a recent photo of my '00 Outback. For those contemplating blackwall tires on their Outback, this photo is for you!

Looks good, I'll tell my dad to get BW tires.

Once in a while I see older Outbacks and Foresters wearing whitewalls. Always startles me.

I never minded having the white lettering on the OEM Firestones, but after I got these (Tiger Paw Touring), I must say I like it this way.

Glad my XT will have blackwalls as well ;-)

Whitewalls, ugh. I've seen a few also.

It's the tire size, I bet there were on a Forester L. Those had 70 series tires, and many of those are indeed whitewalls.

I don't know why, but I always liked the white letters on tires. Of course, I also like chrome on cars. To each their own...

I didn't notice if the Foresters were Ls or Ss but that makes sense, juice. Seldom do you see whitewall tires in a profile lower than 70.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
On my Datsun I actually paid to have existing tires re-mounted with the white walls facing in. Keep in mind I was a broke college student and the tires were still new.

    It was worth it!

Would I have whitewall or white letter tires, like juice I would pay to have them remounted.

      Cheers Pat.
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Had them mounted with the white-in, only cause when they wear out or you whack a curb, they tend to show the white through.

Mike: that Audi in the last pic is an S4? Looks like a 100 to me. No less a feat.

I see a Level 10 banner on your windshield. Are you using their stuff in FrankenL's tranny?

    Ed
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Not sure but it was an "S" model of whatever body that was. "S100"?

No Level 10 stuff yet, but when the at goes, I'll likely have them rebuild it for me.

    -mike
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
    Probably a large older S100.

    Bob
  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
back then the "S" didn't mean what it does now. an S100 was only a mid-level trim, the CS Quattro was the top dog.

if it was an S100, you passed a 172HP (when new!) 3400lb FWD sedan. w00t. ;)

I only had 137hp on the L 155K miles ago with AWD dragging down that HP to next to nothing and an Automatic...

    -mike
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I think at this age and mileage you're putting about 12hp at the wheels. ;-)

not a subject to be taken "lightly," if you get my drift... ;)

Whatever driving skills Mike brings to the table, are probably offset by an increased weight-to-power issue.

Bob (who has little room to talk here...)
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
That's why I had to gut it out! Just to put me on par with the std. weight of the car! Haaaaaaaaaa But it does help a lot on left hand turns, no way that drivers side is lifting up. :)

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Yeah, it's for strategic left-turn traction.

Hopefully I'll get out to an event when mike is teaching me, then we'll have left- and right-turn traction, ideal balance! LOL

It's already a year! It seems like yesterday when Erina was born. Great pixs! :)

Those are cute pics. Amazing how quickly they grow.

Brooke never has been interested in cake or frosting, or ice cream for that matter. She's only just started liking strawberries and bananas on strawberry ice cream (the good stuff, not the artifical flavored stuff).

Not sure why, as dw & I love sweets. Brogan is quite the opposite it seems. Seems to want to eat everything.

She's got her dad's eye brows...and his table manners! ;-)

That's the way to enjoy dessert. My daughter just eats the frosting off and leaves the cake! Even my dad has gotten into the food-in-your-face strategy to enjoying cake.

    What a cutie! I can't believe it's been a year already.

Erina is a Taurus and, if I'm not mistaken, born in the year of the Horse? Hmmmm....I'm a Taurean/Horse also. I'll let you decide if that's a good thing or not. :-)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
4 limb traction for both...it's a good thing!
