Because it's classified as a car, not a truck, you can't tint the windows on cars, only trucks. It won't pass car safety standards with tints on it.

i tinted the fxt immediately so what gives? so ur saying the dealer tinted it illegally? more stupid laws

No it just can't come from the manufacturer that way. The reduced view given by tint is considered to be against "car" safety standards. That's why they can tint the Baja's rear windows. The new OB can theoretically be tinted in the rear also since it's classified as a truck now.

I was under the impression that window tint laws vary so much state-to-state that car manufacturers just didn't want to bother with the variations. It is legal to tint your car windows in most states, just the amount of tint and which windows will vary.

Is that carpeting you have underneath the GT in the 3rd picture? ;-)

Yep, state tint laws only apply to vehicles classified as cars (at least as they pertain to the non-front seat windows) and they do vary significantly from state to state.

<Pee Wee Herman> I'm the luckiest boy in the world! </Pee Wee Herman>

...I'm so much luckier than YOU!!! ROTFLMAO

I hadn't heard that in ages. That's from his "Pee Wee Herman Show" special for adults that aired on HBO long ago.

    Nice new GT.

Ken: Erina looks so cute there, ready to chat! We have those same harmon/kardon speakers with our PC too.

Greg - May look like carpet but it sure doesn't feel like it when I walk in bare feet! It's that stupid cement with pea gravel on top.

    Ken - Wow! She's adorable! ;-)

Ed - I thought I remembered it from the movie "Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure". At least I think that was it?

Swampy - Tint is high up on the list of accessories. Along with a bike rack and Stongard. We'll see how long I hold out before the real modding begins! ;-)

27 miles on the odo when I got the keys (I put nearly 10 of those on with the test drive). 102 miles now. ;-) I just had to check out how well the headlights worked last night and then all those errands I had to run this morning were just torture! LOL!

Boy that big sunroof sure is nice on a day like we're having here in Seattle. Upper 70's, blue sky and sunshine. Lest I forget where I am it'll be raining all weekend. :-( All the better to test the AWD! ;-)

<Ferris Buehler> It's a choice ride! I'd highly recommend picking one up if you have the means.</Ferris Buehler>

    Cheers!

Umm, the Baja gets rear privacy glass since it's classified as a truck.

    Ken,
They worked great. Didn't get them into anywhere really dark without street lights for an extended period though.

They've got a really sharp cutoff with the right side of the projection a bit higher. I'll see if I can take a pic sometime soon to show the difference.

I'm obviosly a Subie Newbie as I couldn't get the display to my liking. It was too bright. Then I actually turned the lights on and it got a darker. Those darn DRL's had me fooled! ;-)

    Tint Law by State http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Law_Chart/State%20Law%20Chart.htm

It's not so much the variance in law State to State that the manufacturers aren't tinting but the regulatory standard(s) FMVS or NHTSA set for the manufacturers - don't remember which and I can't find the site again [in Library of Congress somewhere].

IIRC, it looks like the State Laws of PA and RI adheres to regulatory standard(s) the manufacturers are subjected to.

Heaven help us if she does! If that were to happen I'd just give up on ever trying to post and take up speed reading instead :-)

You know, come to think of it, I think she might be trying to type like Brenda. She swats the keyboard with her hand and tries to hit multiple keys with one pass!

lol on the name changes. Just as entertaining as the chat.

Imagine the words 'type like brenda' to compliment someone!

I should have it tinted in the next week (hopefully). I'll get some more pics then. Oh, and I keep forgetting to get Ken some night shots of the headlight spread! LOL!

    You're gonna love it Ken!

BTW, I took one of my favorite freeway interchanges today way faster than the recommended speed. I know, how irresponsible of me! ;-) LOL!

I've really got to get this thing on the track to get this speed out of my system.

wow, it appears as if the person in that Impreza was seriously overdriving the tires... it's not easy to delaminate an R compound tire!

    ~c
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
And it was the legacy. Beaver Run is notorious for eating tires because it's a new track. I was pushing hard with it all day, my buddy did the same thing with the 2 remaining good ones on his impreza after we swapped off my 2 bad ones.

The track is very grippy due to it being new and has no rubber embedded in it.

Mike, that is one expensive day. Nice shots.

    Greg
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
I bought the tires slightly worn for $100 recently so it's not that bad a deal. The 1st day in the drizzle, we were totally rolling everyone on the track. In the dry the higher HP cars were a bit more dominant. An expensive day was the Mcoupe driver who got sideways in front of a wrx, both cars got a few dents, didn't look like anything major, but we guestimated the wrx to be totalled (popped the timing gear so the valves likely got bent) and about $8k in body damage. Now that's an expensive day!
