Am I worried that the 09 are JUST starting to come out?I have been looking at several cars and have info on 10,s.Is Hyundai that slow and then in a few months when they get plentiful it will be time for the other manufactors 10's.Seems like they are almost a year behind.
  • roughyearroughyear Member Posts: 52
the '09s have been sitting at the port for sometime now.... they had a huge glut of '08 inventory that they needed to move.

if the '09s came out to soon, the '08s would never have moved, especially with near identical pricing.

Went to a dealer yesterday and saw an 08 Santa Fe SE 2WD, Powder Pearl White with beige interior. Has the Premium pkg for $1,850, cargo net, floor mats, cross rails and first aid kit for total add ons of $3,190. MSRP on the door sticker said $27,685. Sat down with the sales guy and he came up with a price of $19,999. This is after all rebates and incentives but doesn't include taxes. Seems like a pretty good price...What do you all think? I'm thinking of putting $5,000 down and financing the rest. Thoughts? Advice?

Are the Hyundai's assembled in Alabama?I have been told by 2 salesman that they just are'nt releasing any 09's,so what you say makes sense.Wife really wants an 09 but I am holding off for a better rebate than $1000.Hopefully this will happen when the purge the 08 stock.Any idea how there overall sales have been in the US?
  • rowdy4rowdy4 Member Posts: 4
Dealers here in Nebraska have 09's
  • marksj1marksj1 Member Posts: 20
Dealers up in Illinois have "some" as well. The selection is very sparse at the 5 dealerships I have checked out.(as in 2 each) I have asked all for a quote on an 09 and only 1 has replied so far. My point being as earlier stated was they are just starting to trickle out now. In 5 months other manufactures will have "2010"s out.

Sounds like you got a really good deal. Did any of the extra rebate figure into your price (owner loyalty or active military)?
Thanks for passing along the info.

    Ron,

Didn't have any of the other rebates. The dealership (San Diego) has about 10 limited of various options in stock. I read this blog - just went in and told them what I would offer. They countered a few times - but I didn't budge - didn't take long for them to accept.

I'm sure the dealership is receiving serious incentive rebates (beyond what they are advertising) to get rid of these 08s. As another poster said, the 09s are waiting in port.

So far - really happy with the vehicle. I tested many - including Lexus RX, Acura MDX, Murano, Rav4 and CRV. This blows them away for the options/price.
    Good luck.

Glad to hear that you're happy with your car and it sounds like you did very well price wise. I too am considering a Santa Fe for my kids - that's why I'm reading these forums.

I disagree with your statement regarding the Santa Fe blowing away the Lexus RX and Acura MDX though. You're comparing apples and oranges - not even close. I have an RX350 (07) and MDX (08) --- not even close when you're comparing them to a Santa Fe. Santa Fe may be a good valued car for what you're getting, but you can't compare the insides, and details to the other two - they're in completely different classes (both physically and financially).

What is the 09 price going to be? You say "near identical" what are you basing this on?The 2 dealers I have been dealing with are pricing about $1500-2000 more. They both have just 2 08 left(wrong colors and not awd). Are they pulling my leg on the 09 price?
  • daveuscdaveusc Member Posts: 3
    Eyesports,

You are correct - you're comparing apples to oranges. My statement is more reflective of what you get for the price, including the warranty as well.

    Good luck.

Paid 27k OTD for LTD with touring package. Sticker price was 34k. Might have overpaid a little.

Santa Fe is a bit more than "assembled" in Alabama - at least in the sense we usually think of foreign car "kits" being assembled in the US. I saw a program on the Science Channel which featured the Alabama plant, and they pretty much manufacture the whole car, with the exception of the engine/transmission and possibly the dash assembly. Lots of subassemblies such as seats come from outside vendors, but the body stampings are formed and welded from flat steel right there in the plant - it's pretty impressive.

As far as sales, from what I've heard Hyundai has fared a bit better than other brands, although the US plant has shifted much more towards Sonatas than Santa Fes.
  • marksj1marksj1 Member Posts: 20
Some other posters said they "were sitting at port"I heard that the plant in Alabama assembled them. After further checking sales have been good compared to other companies.
  • denvertrakkerdenvertrakker Member Posts: 132
I've seen that "sitting at port" comment several times, too. Turns out, what they're talking about isn't the "port" where imported cars are stored after coming off the ship, but merely an off-site storage facility near the factory. An "in-land" port, I guess. ;)

    Hi

I am a proud owner of a 2008 Santa Fe limited. Love the car and celebrate having it for one year today. Interesting thought? Local dealer has a brand new 2007, yes a 2007 in stock. The vehicle is a AWD GLS with the preferred and popular equipment package. This means Sunroof, Foglights, Third row seating, and the tow package all from the factory. I am not a big fan of the 2.7 but as this could be our second car I would just use it around town rarley on the highway.
My question for my friends here is what do you think wouyld be a reasonble price to pay for this vehicle. It has less than 50 miles on the clock.

    Hi,
I am also in San Diego, so would you please advise which dealer you got the deal from?
    Thanks

I've been following this board for a while now and appreciate all of the great information. I am interested in purchasing a 2008 Santa Fe AWD Limited, especially with the great incentives being offered. The problem is that I am having a hard time locating a dealer in Northern NJ who has one on their lot. I do not want 3rd Row or NAV, but I can't seem to find a dealer who has ANY 2008 Limited on their lots. Does anyone know of any dealers in Northern NJ who has any stock?
Also, the dealers I have contacted have tried to steer me toward the 2009, claiming the price difference is only about $2500. I am still looking for a 2008, so I haven't asked for the pricing details of the 2009, but assuming this is my only option, what kind of prices has every gotten for the 09 Limited (OTD, including TTL)?

for what it's worth, a chicago area dealership is advertising 25% off of MSRP on all new hyundais. that should give you a starting point.
  • LisaDLisaD Member Posts: 50
Nace - Which Chicago area dealer is offering 25% off? I'm not finding it. Course I'm sure it's 2008 model anyway - right? I'm looking for 2009 Ltd in West Chicago burbs. Thx.

Donovan, I bought the vehicle you wanted in October 2008 (2008 SF Limited AWD no-NAV no-DVD). I got bonafide offers from Towne Hyundai, Hyundai of Denville, and Hudson Hyunda (Jersey City) for 23K to 23.5K OTD (excl TTL).

At that time, there was a LOT of inventory to choose from. As such, I cannot believe that Hyundai has cleared their 08's from the supply chain to the North East, espeically given the economic conditions since October.

I'm taking a wild guess here that you're cold calling dealers on the phone asking for 08's. Whereupon they tell you they don't have any in stock and steer you toward the 09s, when in fact they have lots of 08s.

If you're really ready to pull the trigger, I would go to Towne Hyundai in person armed with the 23K OTD number and get your car.

Let us know how you make out.
  • nacenace Member Posts: 45
the dealer is McGrath city hyundai. the ad was in sat or sun chicago tribune, auto section. what i read "no foolin 25% off new hyundais.
i just went to there internet site and clicked on new inventory, than clicked on view our specials and it reads "up to 25% off of msrp"
i could be wrong but i do not recall the" UP TO" in the tribune ad..
if anything ,it might be worth a phone call. let the sf forum know. good luck

    Hey Maverick,
Thanks for the advice. I went to a new local dealer today (one that I hadn't called originally) and bought a new 2008 Santa Fe Limited.I originally went looking for a 4WD Limited with no Nav but feel in love with a color they only had with a Nav unit, so I bit the bullet and spent a little more than I planned. Overall, I got the car for $24,174 (exc. TTL). I didn't think this was a bad deal, but what are your opinions?
  • marksj1marksj1 Member Posts: 20
What state did you get it in and was it awd?Could be a good deal.
  • NY_MaverickNY_Maverick Member Posts: 26
Donovan, that's a good price. Enjoy the Santa Fe. Smooth sucker, isn't it??? Like butter.

What color did you fall in love with? Don't tell me...Platinum Sage?
  • mps3640mps3640 Member Posts: 6
I was offered a 09 Limited (no nav or towing).. listed for 29,200 and was quoted 21,500.....
I also priced out a SE with premium pkg... list 27,570 and got him down to 21,070 (originally offered to me at 21,700), BUT they would not include the 2.9% financing. (I'm not sure if I could have gotten it at the higher price either). They told me they would lose money on that deal.. they are offering me a 4.94% rate..
What does anyone think about this deal 21,070 w/o T/T/Registration but incl del.
    with a rate of 4.94?
  • LisaDLisaD Member Posts: 50
MPS - Do I have this right? You were offered a 2009 Limited with no Nav for $21,500? A 2009? Or did you mean to type 2008? Towing pkg is standard on the 2009.
  • NY_MaverickNY_Maverick Member Posts: 26
21,500 is unusually low for a 2009 Limited 2008, let alone 2009 model. Was this AWD? If so, it would be wise to take the offer. 4.94% is a competitive APR from most banks and or commercial lenders.

    Congrats!
  • mps3640mps3640 Member Posts: 6
It was an 08 FWD. No options... besides being a base Limited. I wasn't too interested as I didn't like the way it drove... choppy and very rough ride.
I bought the 08 SE FWD w/premium package... 21,070 plus TTL.
I got everything that I needed like the moonroof and power seat.
I am very pleased so far...

I've offered under 21K with 2009 Santa Fe GLS AWD automatic (it's OTD). Is it a good deal? What do you think? I'd like to hear from all of you..
  • justininjustinin Member Posts: 3
    Petitdoc,
I just started looking for a 2009 Santa Fe (SE FWD probably).
You may want to provide more specific info of the offer to help people answer your question. For example,
    1) Your region,
    2) MSRP and invoice of your GLS AWD
    3) Does the OTD offer include tax and TTL? If so, what is the tax rate?
This board has been quiet for a long while. Hope your post stirs things up little bit.
  • petitdocpetitdoc Member Posts: 2
My region is PA, Huntingdon Valley, And the MSRP is $24,695. OTD include the tax + tags , of course. and I want to add a Backup Sensor, which is included to the OTD.
  • quad1quad1 Member Posts: 9
I'm wondering what other people are paying for the 2009 Santa Fe Limited AWD in Western PA.
  • roughyearroughyear Member Posts: 52
we have a dealer here in maryland offering a FREE (well $1) 2008 Tiburon with any santa fe (or any 2008 veracruz /tiburon) purchase!!!

    can't beat that offer!!!
  • zoom49zoom49 Member Posts: 76
Looking to purchase 09 LTD FWD base is So Cal. Sticker is $29,770 with invoice of $28,255 less $2,000 discount from invoice and less $2,000 rebate = $24,255 plus
tax and license. Is this a good deal? :confuse:
  • quad1quad1 Member Posts: 9
For a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited AWD with an MSRP of $31,970, what would be a good deal? And should the $2,000 rebate that Hyundai is offering be taken off of the MSRP or the invoice price?
  • rick2456rick2456 Member Posts: 320
The invoice price, if not less.
  • hinknethinknet Member Posts: 1
I have a 2007 Santa Fe Limited with 8,100 miles, yes 8,100 miles. Leather package with 3.3 V6, 2WD, sunroof, rear air, 3rd seat, single CD + MP3 and towing prep package. Car is in excellent condition. No AWD or DVD. My 30 month lease is up in August 2008. My buyout is $16,600. I love the car and have equity in the car when you consider the mileage and pristine condition. The question is....am I better off keeping it or leasing a new one? I am retiring within a year and will probably increase annual mileage a bit but not excessive. The car has never given me a lick of trouble but considering the economy, am I apt to get a better deal on a new lease?
  • mikebutkusmikebutkus Member Posts: 18
Hackettstown, NJ Picked up a 08 Veracruz in April '09 for $9500K below sticker.
It was less then the SF I bought in '07
    http://www.htownhyundai.com/MiscPage_7
  • roughyearroughyear Member Posts: 52
if you want to keep the '07 SF at end of lease, consider offering LESS for the car. when august rolls around, check out the kelly blue book value for the SF and then OFFER the finance company DEALER TRADE-IN value for it, which would be substantially less than your current 16.6k buyout.

i've done that numerous times when my leases expire. they'll take it, because otherwise they'll have to auction off the car and they know they'll get less than what u offered. if they balk, consider other options, like a new lease or car make.
  • rich123rich123 Member Posts: 31
$24,255 for an 09 LTD FWD seems like an excellent price. I am looking at the same configuration here in Sacramento California. $2000 below invoice on a 2009 is a lot. This was a 2009 and not a 2008, correct?
  • zoom49zoom49 Member Posts: 76
Yes this is new 09 not a 08. This was the best I could get after shopping several dealers. 09 Ltd FWD with no options but mats and cargo net. MSRP 29,770
Invoice 28,225 less 2,000 less $2,00 rebate. I'm pulling the trigger this next weekend. :D
  • rick2456rick2456 Member Posts: 320
Same here. My 07 AWD SF SE purchased in 07 ($24,500) was more than my 08 AWD Vercruz SE ($21,500). Of course, I had 6k in rebates with the Veracruz compared with 2k for the SF.
  • rich123rich123 Member Posts: 31
Zoom, would you mind letting me know the dealer name. I am going to match your pricing this weekend.

    Thanks
  • loukinglouking Member Posts: 28
Can anyone advise if invioce less the rebate of $2000 is good deal on '09Sante Fe Ltd ?

    fwd, no nav
  • rich123rich123 Member Posts: 31
Louking, you may want to read msg 2377 and 2384. Also google Fitzmall Hyundai. He lists his internet prices which you can use as a reference point.
  • abchin486abchin486 Member Posts: 78
how are you guys getting 4k under invoice (some even lower)....the fursthest i have got is 4K under msrp...and they will not go any lower....or atleast they say. Also, I am guessing that 08's are pretty much slim pickings? All dealers say they have none left:(
  • LisaDLisaD Member Posts: 50
Some amazing deals I'm seeing. But I'd be interested in a 2009 but at this point will probably hold out for the 2010 facelift.
  • zoom49zoom49 Member Posts: 76
    Hey Rich,
I got this same deal at two SoCal dealers, Commerce Hyundai and Glendora Hyundai.

Hey guys... I was wondering if you could help me out. My moms Chevy Equionox (sp) lease is up and she is looking to finance a Santa Fe. I was wondering if this was a good deal (i am going to the dealership with her tomorrow to try to lower the price)

    2009 Santa Fe

    FWD
    2.7 V6
    Bluetooth
    ipod jack
    Sun roof

Basic truck basically but here is the rundown they gave her....

    MSRP $25,500
    -2,000

    23,500

    Sale Price $21,700

$2,000 down $400 a month for 6 years or 3,000 for $380 for 6 yrs...Is this a good deal? I believe the rate is 2% (NYC Location) .Thanks for the help in advance.
