Took possession on Memorial Day (last Monday) of a black 06 Santa Fe Limited (beige leather interior) with accessory group 3, floor mats and cargo net. Accessory group 3 is the sunroof and the monochromatic finish as opposed to the grey cladding, and I don't know why anyone would want the cladding. The monochromatic really makes this vehicle look sharp. Anyway, the price before taxes including all fees and registration was 21,158.03. Very happy with that price. Purchased at Rick Case Automall in Duluth, GA (north Atlanta).

What should I look to pay for an 06 Santa Fe Limited (beige leather interior) with accessory group 3, floor mats and cargo net? I think the numbers are dwindling and there is the $3,000 rebate, but it seems like there should be room to negotiate. If the sticker is about $27,500 what should I look to pay?

    Thanks so much.

My opinion is no more than dealer cost, and maybe less.Hyundai wants to get rid of these quickly, would think dealers are getting some-sort of cost break on these 06's-they should pass some of it on to you.
Besides they are getting some of that bogus advertising fee,B.S. that it's automatic to the company.

After 3 days of car shopping and less than a grand experience I purchased a 2006 Santa Fe last week.
I LOVE all the features on it, I think I got an OK deal but it was hell dealing with several dealerships. Finally a great gal up in Carlsbad found the one I was looking for in blue. Now I have been driving this car for 4 days, and have yet to get the gas mileage up over 14 mpg and I have over 200 miles on it.
I have driven SUV's most of my life, and always managed to get over 18 even on the ones known for bad gas. I have no idea if there is something wrong with this SUV, or if this is even odd. I do know I am not getting even close to what the sticker said. The sales people told me 17-24 in the city, more on the highway. Well I have driven both, and Im right at 14 mpg still.
Suggestions? Has anyone else had this issue or is it just me?
It looks like I traded in a car that got 36 for a SUV that got 14mpg. I can handle 20-22, but 14?

    Thanks

    April,

New engines are still "tight" and take a few thousand miles to loosen up and wera in.

Your mileage should slowly improve as the engine breaks in - it will be around the 5000 mile mark before it will be fully broken in.

    Regards,

    JC

Good to know thanks! I sure hope you are right. I seem to be getting 17 now which is better than 14.
I LOVE just love the SUV, I hope the mileage gets better :) I would like to see over 20.
:D The options are awsum. Just had Lo Jack put in too!

    All the best

    April,

I just bought mine, after having a Sonata for 4.5 yrs. (Mileage 22 - 27) Now I cannot get 17 on the Santa Fe. I have 1300 miles on it already and it doesn't appear to be doing anything better. I am going back to the dealer this week to voice my opinion. But not a happy camper with the mileage...

  • lokis_suvlokis_suv Member Posts: 3
YUP I am at 700 miles already and Im getting 16.8 average!
    And I drive mostly highway!
I read the manual that said I need to drive 55 for the first 1200 miles for the break in. But that is 10-15 miles under our speed limit. So here I am poking around the free ways with everyone flying past me.
I am REALLY mad about the mileage. I am a single mom with two kids, and I LOVE the SUV but I dont have money to burn on gas. I believed them when they said 22-25 and I was pushing it at that.
I was going to get a Nissan Xterra but it said it only got 17, so I went with the Hyundai instead. Only to find out, it looks like Nissan was just honest.
I wish I knew how many other people are not getting the sticker mpg.
The dealer wont do anything, I think we need to voice it to Hyundai directly. I love my Sante Fe, but they need to not lie like that. I would have went with the 2.7 if I would have known the true mpg.

    April, et al...

Your MPG expectations are premature. It doesn't matter what make of automobile you buy, it is going to take several thousands of miles for the engine, and other driveline components to wear-in.

I have bought a lot of new cars and this has always held true. It's around the 5000 mile mark before you will be getting higher MPG.

I mean this in a positive way - You can't expect that after 3 or 4 tanks of gas that: 1) the engine is broken in; 2) the drive train is broken in; 3) that you are using a big enough sample data set (your gallons of gas purchaed and miles driven) to be accurate or statistically meaningful and 4) all of the above.

You are getting worked up over the break-in period MPG and ail-ing like it's post break-in.

Time will tell, but enough time and miles have not passed.

    Respectfully,

    JC

I have a 07 SF with 2.7 4 speed automatic and front wheel drive. With 1000 miles on it I am getting 24.2 MPG for the entire tank. This is mixed driving. Mostly rural roads and some city driving (but very little true city driving). I did get 27 mpg on a 150 mile trip (65-70 mph) with the A/C on the whole way. I wouldn't be suprised to hear 0f 30 mpg highway once these are broken in. :shades:

What does gas mileage have to do with "prices paid and buying experience" ?????
  • musky1gfmmusky1gfm Member Posts: 36
When you say no other fees,I assume you did pay $500 advertising fee.Which is included in the invoice.
Still think this fee is B.S.,and pure profit for the dealer.
  • jcspohrjcspohr Member Posts: 97
Nope - I did NOT pay the $500 advertising fee.

I negotiated everything about the deal via email. Made it clear that I was 1. going to buy a vehicle that day from someone, 2. that I would pay only the $650 manufacturers delivery fee and nothing else fee related, 3. My offer was $400 over published invoice and 4. that I was already approved for financing.

They said come in and we'll do your deal. They told me at the dealership that the $500 advertising fee was legit and would not normally do this but they agreed to take it out. They also said the state doc fee of $57.xx was legit and that they had to show it on the paperwork for the state (but they subtracted it out of the invoice price before they added it back in for the paperwork).

I got the loyalty rebate as well.

I was also supposed to get a lifetime powertrain warranty provided by that dealer for purchasing it through them. I was reviewing the sale paperwork the next day and did not see any mention of it. So I called and was informed that they no longer offered it - something about the State's AG getting on them. I verified this and it was true. So to appease my dissatisfaction they gave me a full tank of fuel.

I am happy with the deal. :)

And I absolutely love the vehicle. :D

This is my first message here, so I apologize if pertinent information is missing from my post.

My husband and I bought a Black 2007 Santa Fe 2wd SE w/Premium package on Saturday. Deal was arranged completely online through the Hyundai in Inver Grove, MN (suburb of Minneapolis/St Paul). We live over three hours away (in South Dakota) but had a bad experience with the local Hyundai dealer (he seemed inexperienced, was making promises that I knew couldn't be kept, and was refusing to deal below MSRP because people in our hometown are snatching up the Santa Fes as soon as they hit the lot). The online deal with Hyundai Inver Grove was effortless and actually enjoyable.

We paid $24995 (MSRP was $25895). We also received a $100 gas card to get us home and the floor mats were thrown in on top.

The car was ready when we got to the dealer to pick it up. One thing that threw me off was that it had a thin silver pinstripe down the side- all of the Santa Fes on their lot either had a silver or gold pinstripe. I wasn't expecting it, but it looks nice. The sales staff at Hyundai Inver Grove were top notch. We were in and out in an hour.

We love, love, love the car. Ride is smooth, airconditioning is powerful. We have the grey interior, which I didn't have a chance to see in person before picking up our car (we test drove a local Santa Fe with a beige interior). I love the grey interior, it appeals to us a lot more than the beige (I'm 24 and my husband is 26 years old). It looks awesome with the blue interior lighting.

We bought the Santa Fe to replace a 1994 Explorer that literally exploded so we're looking forward to having this SUV for a long time.

I had a chance to drive the Santa Fe in Minneapolis traffic. I'm 5'2" and I had no problems seeing over the dash or handling the car. Our other car is a Toyota Yaris hatchback and it really didn't feel that different. Well, the Santa Fe obviously has a little more power! :P

MPG averaged 22 mpg during the three hour ride home.

We took the car out today to do some shopping and someone already scratched the back end, which ticks me off, but I suppose is unavoidable. One other minor complaint is that the Santa Fe has a hard time detecting me when I'm in the passenger seat, so the passenger airbags turn off. I have to remember to sit squarely in the seat!

I hope that this covers everything. This site was so helpful when we began to research SUVs. I would never have considered a Hyundai, but it ended up being a perfect match!

I bought a beautiful slate grey 07 gls with premium package from Jim Price
Hyundai in Charlottesville VA. What a great experience. I drove the car 3-4
times before buying it. They didn't have the color I wanted so they got on the
computer and found one 4 hours away. They drove down and picked it up for me and
I only paid $75 for that. Here is the deal I got:
Total price on the sticker $25,250. Price I paid $23,250 plus they gave me $1000
more on my trade than any other dealer, they threw in a trailer hitch and wiring
harness installed (over $600 value) and they threw in the floor mats ($150
value). Considering the trade, I believe I saved $4000 compared to what a person
walking in paying sticker would get. I don't care where you live, I would call
these guys and make a deal. Its your money so don't waste it and pay more than you have to! I'm very happy
    with mine. :D

That's some pretty good negotiating. I'm getting some pretty straight poker faces in Houston - phone survey to several dealerships' internet sales managers netted a tightly clustered median of $25,800 for SF Limited without the sunroof. Enjoy it - you got a great deal.

    jackw77,

Congrats on the purchase. Where did you purchase your SF? I've looked online in the DC area and they don't have too many, but they have more than rural areas. The SF has everything I want. It looks like we will buy at the end of Dec., beginning of January. Patience Grasshopper.

I haven't seen any SF '07 AWD purchases.
They do offer this vehicle in AWD don't they?

Since Edmunds has yet to publish any specs on the '07 I have no idea what that would do to the price or gas milege.
  • Yesterday I went to the dealer, he made me an offer: $19.121 final price including TTL and other expenses. MSRP: $17.475. The SF has Sun roof. Is it a good price? Please help, time is short. Thanks.
  • gravleygravley Member Posts: 4
what type of mileage does the 2.7 Sante Fe get. The 2WD specifically. Thanks for any help!
  • gravleygravley Member Posts: 4
I am looking at a 2006 2.7 Sante Fe also not 4WD just 2WD. It is GSL cloth no sunroof they want 20,000. Seem slike your price is pretty good. Is yours 4WD? leather? let me know. Thanks!
  • gravleygravley Member Posts: 4
    Is yours a 4WD or 2WD?

Buying my first new car. Looked at a 2006 2.7 gls FWD, opts: pwr snrf, cross rails, mats, and mud gaurds. I have my own financing. MSRP on window was $25,050. Quoted a price of $22,367-total out the door. I hope i'm in the right ballpark.
  • musky1gfmmusky1gfm Member Posts: 36
You should do quite abit better than that. The 06 has a $3000 rebate right off the top, plus invoice is at least $2000 lower.
I may be wrong, but think somewhere around $20,000 plus tax, etc.
  • Mine is 2WD, sunroof, cloth. Base price $17.475 + TTL = $19.121 final price. That's it. The sunroof is $900 MSRP so I think you can get a better price, I think something near $18.500 final price. Go hit the dealer.
  • petenj824petenj824 Member Posts: 3
Oops! the quote of 22,367 was for the 4x4, snrf & TTL, although I still think I should be getting this gls for 20,000 or so. have more work to do on this one.

I got my 07 for $23,250. Why buy an 06 when you can have the 07 for that price?
  • new2dieselnew2diesel Member Posts: 148
My 2.7 with 2800 miles on it gets good mileage. Best on a trip so far is 29 mpg at 68 mph with a/c. Mixed driving is about 24. My avg mileage for 2 tanks and about 20% city driving is 25.4 If you drive alot of city expect less than this. I am very pleased! :shades:
  • jackw77jackw77 Member Posts: 12
Wow..you got an awesome deal..congrats! We drove the same one as you..except it had the tan leather....we were all set to buy it...until we walked into the showroom and saw a powder white pearl with gray leather..looked great...so that's what we went with. Good luck and good driving to you.....

We love our 07 Santa Fe

2007 Santa FE FWD Limited with A/C always on.

    I get 20.4 city/highway (80/20)when I drive it. I had it up to 26.x (highway only) right after a fill-up about 300 miles ago.

My lead-footed wife gets around 19.8 in same.

Initially we got 18.3 or so when we first picked it up. We have ~1100 miles on it now.

Ok, here it is, negotiated my first new car deal. I bought a 2006 SF 2.7, AWD, alarm, sunroof, crossrails, mats, and mud flaps. I had my own financing so i was negotiating the TOD price other than actual vehicle cost. From what i can tell these were the edmunds numbers i was working with.

    MSRP:25,050w/opts TTL: Rebate: Total:
    invoice: 23,430 +1991 -3,000 = 22,421
    TMV: 23,652 +2011 -3,000 = 22,663
    Paid: 22,107 +2192 -3,000 = 21,299

So i paid 19,200 (including MSRP $1250 for opts & $395 alarm) plus TTL. Also i had no other discounts(military, loyalty) I went to four dealers, only one had two on the lot w/snrf, so my opts for final place of purchace was limited.(had to buy from a dealer 40 mins away!) Their first offer TOD: 22,367, second offer: 21,597 finaly paid: 21,299(despite an extremly agerssive closer!) I feel as if i overpaid a bit, but i must say i got the one i wanted and both my wife and i love it!

I'm in Southern California....So far I haven't seen anyone posting lease deals....I know all about leasing (I've leased over 3 vehecles before) and I know Hyundai may have a below average residual value but leasing is the better option for my need. Anyone else there with information like money factors offered by Hyundai etc is greatly appreciated.

Just got purchase agreement for a new 2007 Santa Fe All wheel drive Limited with the third row seat and sunroof options, plus floor mats. Dealer invoice on this configuration is $28,380. I'm paying $29,125 plus tax. For what it's worth, the MSRP is $30,840.

Deepwater Blue with beige leather interior.

I nailed down a price over the internet with our local dealer prior to ever stepping foot in the showroom. This worked out well and made our test drive and subsequent purchase a pleasant experience. Assuming a dealer holdback of about $500, he is making between 4% and 5% profit on this transaction, which I consider to be fair.
  • wintertigerwintertiger Member Posts: 9
I was given a price of $24,390 + TTL. What do you get for this model without other options. Thanks!
  • davesuvdavesuv Member Posts: 149
To compare the trim levels see
link Sante Fe trim level comparison

According to Edmunds, the MSRP for the SE trim level is $23,645. The dealer invoice price is $21,990. The price you quoted must either not be US dollars or must include some extras.
  • wintertigerwintertiger Member Posts: 9
Thanks. The invoice is $21,990 + $650 = $22,640 and there is a $500 rebate on it. I just talked to a dealer this afternoon and he would take $24k OTD (about 2k TTL here) if I buy it today. Will wait till the end of this month and buy one.

Deal offered on 07 Santa Fe SE AWD; Deepwater Blue :)

    MSRP: $26354
Sale Price: $24,890 ($200 below invoice)
    Rate: .00126
    Residual: .48
    Acquisition Fee: $595
Rebate: $1800 (offered on lease only)
    Adjusted Residual: $12,649
Money Down: $1000 (+ first mo. Payment)
    Monthly Payment: $367
    Terms: 36 mo/ 15K miles/year

Looking for advice, is this a good deal? Seems good to me considering if I buy out at end vehicle cost is still below MSRP. Thanks for any advice provided.

Got a very good price for this trim...

    $28,500 + TTL ($1,545 here in Canada)
    MSRP is $30,095
This price is $245 over invoice ($28,255)

US invoice for this trim is $23,850 which is $26,500 CAD
So Hyundai Canada charges us 6.5% higher for the same thing!

Sent price request to 18 dealers in my area over email and got 5 replies. Prices were between $500 to $1,200 over invoice and managed to negotiate down to $245 and got $700 more for my CR-V than the initial price...

Should get in this friday, will let everyone know how I like it compared to my old '98 CR-V! :shades:

I purchased the top of the line model available in Canada at a Mississauga dealership on August 7. I bargained $2,000 off the price. Interestingly I still haven't received the car. Apparently the GLS (top of the line version for Canada) has not yet arrived here. They keep on telling me - one more week.

Picked up my Santa Fe Limited last night. It is the Steel Gray with Ebony Leather interior. Sale price was $24,445. Below invoice and no haggling so I was happy. If you are in the Indy area, talk to the Internet Manager at Butler. He was a pleasure to work with. :)

Was it a GLS..4WD what size engine? Sounds awsome! Thanks!
