went to the dealer today and made my mind that it's going to be Santa Fe. I am from Western, NY.

What would be the EXCELLENT out the door price for 06 Santa Fe AND 07 Santa Fe?

As far as interior goes, I would like power & heated seat, leather. It might sound stupid, but it's important to me because my health reasons ^^

Trying to do this alone this time...and it's hard so please help~~~~ again, I am from Western, NY

We bought the 3.5 Limited FWD for my wife and she really loves it - especially the black on black paint job. We wanted to buy the advantage plus 10 yr/100,000 but the dealer said they did not sell that plan. I have requested a quotes from several other dealers and have only received one reply back. MSRP $1561 with a 23% discount = 1201.00. I think I can do a bit better - anyone else have better luck on this plan?
    Thanks

    Hi Taiji,

I certainly agree with your choice of a Santa Fe. If you can afford it, the 07 models have significant benefits over the 06 and would likely have better resale value.

You can only get leather seats on the Limited and this trim level comes standard with power drivers seat and heated seats. You should look up the Invoice price for the configuration you want on Edmunds (see here ). With no options, the Limited is invoiced at $24,520. A great price would be any price at or below invoice. A fair price might go up to $500 above invoice. The dealership usually gets a rebate (holdback) of about $500 to $1000 back from the manufacturer. That's why he is able to sell below invoice and still make a profit. I feel a 5% profit is fair for a business such as this.
  • musky1gfmmusky1gfm Member Posts: 36
I'd jump on that price of $1201,just paid $1295 FOR same plan on a 07 SF.But paid $100 over invoice for SF.

Is the plan through the dealer or Hyundai. If through a dealer, the policy could be voided if the dealer closed up. Be very careful of who backs the plan.

Been recently looking at SF's in the So Cal area, mainly south San Diego. And pretty much am going for top the of the line Limited Ed. I've only been to 2 dealers and they seem to be tight on the 29k sticker price. Going online however gets you qualified for $100 over invoice. which is about 28k (leather interior, sunroof, 5 seater, 3.3, AWD).

One Fleet Mnger offered me for 2k down, Limited Ed, with all the bells and whistles for about 25k. It was the Owner of the Dealerships car, but he hadn't driven more than 50 miles on the thing. An absolute steal! But didn't have my color  . He's still trying to track one down to ink the deal. Hope he does soon! I so want this car!

I realy, realy, realy, REALY, didn't want to like this car btw. Stoopid 100kmile warranty!
Stoopid luxury interior heated leather seats! Stoopid excellent crash test ratings! Stoopid indigo blue light interior console!!

You know I didn't want to like this car either but it's currently my #1 choice. Let me ask you, would you choose the Limited 07 Santa Fe over a loaded 06 Honda Pilot w/ leathe? I'm leaning towards the Santa Fe but I worry about the quality.
  • sirvagabondsirvagabond Member Posts: 51
Man, That's a HELLUVA good deal. Congrats! Hope to ink one soon as well....

    Hi !
I got an offer from dealor about 2007 3.3 Limited AWD as 27000.
This car has a sunloof option.

So total will be 27000+ tax.
He keeps calling me that this is the best price ever I will have.
What do you think about this price ?

    Thanks
    Have a nice day ~
I only want 3.3 AWD with only basic option around 24000 including everything. Is this price too low ?

Joe, that is what the dealer whom we bought the car from tried to sellus, and I did not want that for the same reason or if we move back to the Carolinas. The plan I am looking for is through Hyundai USA

Be careful with the "the dealership owner only put 50-100 miles on it" line. Ask for a computer readout of the highest MPH driven (stored on the vehicle computer). The rig could have been given to a potential customer for an overnite test drive and got trashed. Always be a skeptic.

Usually the better (more comprehensive) plan is through the manufacturer, and more flexible as we both noted. I sold Toyotas some years back and the dealer's finance guy always pushed the dealer's plan as it was more profitable and most customers didn't know the difference. Good for you for having that detail straight.

thanks joe for the heads-up. I really SHOULD be more cautious with that. Now that I think about it, I left out a minor detail... Since they didn't have my color, he was looking at other dealerships for one to trade. I was believing that whatever other model would replace that, would be the brand new. But, now I aint so sure. either event, I really want to own this trim, but can't see paying almost 30k for it!?!?! Im thinking if I find one for 24, i could be sold. this aint unreasonable, is it?!
  • jpanozzo1jpanozzo1 Member Posts: 50
Dealers will buy and sell between them just to move vehicles, except if they are competitors in the same town. Then it is an issue of who gets the bragging rights for moving more vehicles. You will pay $100 to $250 to get a vehicle delivered. They don't always trade...many times the dealer I worked for would send two drivers to get a vehicle in another town.

Find the invoice cost and use the net to offer a deal or go during the worst weather possible...that's the day they are begging to write a sale up. If it were me, and I hope it will be this year, I will buy during a snow or ice storm. Just have all your homework done beforehand, options, colors etc. Here's my deal, take it or leave it, no bs. Another consumer trick is to find the board where the deals are written. If its showing only 1 or 2 and its 6 pm, it's time to deal.

I am not sure of the options you have for around 30K and if it includes taxes but that sounds high. Pay a hundred over invoice tops...it's your money and the dealer makes money at invoice..the salesman might get screwed but the dealer does ok.

So in all fairness to a salesman getting the minimum commission, tell him what you are there for, make the offer, and tell him you don't need the sales pitch; he can spend his time writing up a sales contract. But trying that tactic on a sunny day at the beginning of the month can be an act in futility.

Joe, that's clever. I'd never have considered weather or time to be that much a factor. Damn clever. Thanks for the creative advice.

The model I'm interested in is the LImited, 3.3ltr, sunroof, 5 seater. Slate Blue with beige interior. This stickers at 29k here in SoCal. From what I've found, invoices at 28k. Thats why I figured the 25k was a good deal. And at 6.8% financing, (which is 2% better than what my bank offered) I almost signed the line. I would like to think I could pull it lower. Out the door to be around 23k. But this may be a pipe dream. Im holding out to gather the downpayment and want to check other dealers round my county. This seems to get the numbers to change significantly.

For the most part, I've been giving them the boundries of what Im willing to work with as I walk in. Along with, "Im almost ready to buy a ......." I hope soon, I can get one to crack and give me what most americans consider, "a deal". Meanwhile, I'll keep posted on user experiences here on the forums.

    Thanks again Joe.
  • jpanozzo1jpanozzo1 Member Posts: 50
With an MSRP of 29K, regardless of model or options, its going to be tough to move down to 25K...23K is not going to happen. Look at it this way. The 06 SF Limited had an incentive of 3K and, as I have read on other boards, sold at about 22k to 23K.

The 07 is a much be better vehicle and, outside of standard "prior Hyundai owner" type incentives nothing has been offered so far. Best of luck in haggling.

    Wow that sounds good !
I'm also ready to negotiate seriously for the same model and would like to benefit from your experience "if possible".
I live 600 km away from you in Quebec/Mtl and was curious to know if the dealer went down 2k from 36 or from 37 ? (prep included)if its not to much to ask ?
    thanks in advance !

This will be the first new car purchase for me in 7 years. I have been sending feelers out to see what kind of quote I can get and so far only 1 dealer has replied. I am going to another dealer in person tomorrow, but wanted to see if this was a good deal, and I think it is.

I got a quote on the Touring and Ultimate package for $29,103. I didn't really want the Ultimate package, just the Touring and Premium. However, Invoice for the Touring and Premium alone is about $28,500.

I looked up the Invoice on the package he quoted and the quotewas $1,550 BELOW Invoice and about $3,000 below the TMV price of the car. I'm thinking I should jump on this, but don't want to jump too soon. I also have a trade-in which isn't counted in the quote price. I'm thinking that with the trade in, I could get it for $29,000 OTD including TTL based on the quote that he provided.

Am I being realistic, or is this quote too good to be true?

    Thanks
  • sirvagabondsirvagabond Member Posts: 51
I would definitely take the SF over the Pilot. What got me to lean towards Hyundai was really their warranty. That should alleviate at least some if not most of the quality concerns. And the fact that their car models seem to just improve every year. The boards seem to have less and less issues with the newer SF from the old 03's thru 05's. Not only is the company's quality improving by leaps and bounds since it's inception, but they actually WANT to get better and be a major competitor. That says a lot in my book. Their stock numbers prove it, also. If Hyundai plans to be around for a while, (or any car manufacturer for that matter), this is the attitude and quality necessary to take. In fact, it's no more a WANT, then it is a NEED.

That and the inside's just pimp!

    Good luck to ya...

    Hey colklink,

The deal you mentioned sounded great. Did you get any replies back answering your question as to if that was a good deal or not. I am in the process of leasing a 2007
Santa Fe either SE or limited and wanted to see what others were experiencing, thanks.
  • wannanewcarwannanewcar Member Posts: 5
    Hey waynetam,

I was curious if you received any feedback regarding lease iniformation. I too am looking to go down the leasing route for a 07 santa fe and require similar information. If I may ask you also, how do you approach the dealer since you are going to lease the vehicle. Do you still determine what the final cost of the car would be before telling them if you are going to lease or not? Also, I seem to recall there is some official lease form that an interested buyer can request from a dealership which shows the money factor, etc. (M document or soemthing like that). Any help on this would be great. Thanks in advance. If I find out any information I will let you know as well, thanks again.

Just bought a 2007 Limited FWD w/ Premium package (sun roof) in the dark cherry red. I live in N Virginia but traveled up to MD to get better deal. Called around to 10 most local dealers and only a couple had the options in stock that I was looking for in a color I liked. Tryed to get the price reduced but nobody would match the no haggle price I got at Fitzgerald Auto Mall. Here are the details...

    MSRP 27640
    TMV 27225
    Invoice 25450

    My Price 25670
    Total cost w/ Tax/Tags/fees 26615

FYI...MD has a max 99 fee vs VA fee of max 299.

Only issue was that after having to pay an extra 90 for floor mats they did not have any in stock (didnt let me know until I doing final check out). They say they will fed ex them to me next week.

Tryed to trade in my falling apart almost didn't make it there car but the dealer offered my 1G less than car max. Reco hitting car max in advance for tradeins. Dealer would not come up to car max price and let me know car max would loose money on my trade (I happen to agree).

Was hoping to get the black leather interior but could not find it anywhere? Any one seen it? Couldnt wait needed new car plus got a baby on the way...

I'm new to this board and I have to thank all of you for taking the time to post! Very valuable info! That said, never in my life would I have ever thought I would be at a Hyundai dealership much less purchase a Hyundai vehicle but here I am---drooling over the Santa Fe. We have test drove the Mazda CX7, the Subaru Tribeca, the 2007 Honda CRV which I thought I was going to love and didn't and the Santa Fe and the Santa Fe blew the others away, either in price or ammenities. My husband was really against looking at the Santa Fe, but short of the BMW suv (which we cannot afford)he really likes it.

The salesman at the dealership called and said they have just received the one I really want--dark cherry Limited, tan leatber with the Touring and Premium Package--I know the third row seat is kind of stupid but it would be nice to have when we have our kids friends or relatives. Anyhow, he mentioned to my husband that it would be appox $30.000 which
is well over MSRP. We have not been in to negotiate yet and we will definitely walk if we don't get the price down. So my question is this. If we wait until December when car sales are slow does anyone think we can get a better price.
I like the Cherry color but it's not a deal breaker. They have a charcoal gray with same package that's very nice too so I'm assuming they will be getting more imventory. The other Hyundai dealership we went to in town was soooo horrific I can't imagine dealing with them. They were the classic "used car salesman" telling us that they had already sold 16 Santa Fe's that day! I guess he thought he had some real live ones he he!

Thanks for any input! This will be my 1st new car ever! I've had a 1993 Ford Explorer for 12 years and it's time to send it to junk yard heaven.
  • davesuvdavesuv Member Posts: 149
It sounds like your car is pretty much what I've been trying to track down from my dealer. I'm looking for a Limited AWD in Dark Cherry Red with the beige leather interior, with the Touring and Premium packages (3rd row seating and sunroof) plus floormats. Is your's All Wheel Drive? My dealer has been looking for this configuration for the past month now without success.

My dealer has offered this to me for $29,154 plus sales tax (out the door price). For this configuration MSRP is $30,860 and dealer invoice is $28,404. I figure he will make about 5% on the deal after his holdback, which is fair.

As for best time to buy, it's been mentioned before (and I agree), go at the end of the month when showroom traffic is slow due to bad weather. Go with your well thought out price in mind and offer a take it or leave it for that day.
  • dlm820dlm820 Member Posts: 31
Just purchased the above vehicle and have been driving around for a couple of days in it. LOVE IT!!!!

    Here is what I paid:

    MSRP: 33,345
    Price Paid: $30,800
Ext Warranty: $3,300 (Had no choice. Long story.)
    TTL: $2,981
Total Price Paid before Trade: $37,081
Trade in and down payment: $3,100
    Total OTD price financed: $33,981

Not bad considering that the original price I paid was only $150 above Invoice. I'm paying through the nose in interest, but that's my own fault.

Overall, a great car and I think I got a fairly good deal.

    Greetings,

I'm a satisfied owner of a 2001 Santa Fe (134k miles without so much as a hiccup) and will be looking to add a 2007 to the stable. Has anyone here purchased an SE AWD with the Premium Package? If so, can you share your dealer experiences and what you ended up paiding? The MSRP is listed as $27,895 / Invoice listed as $25,290. BTW, I'm located in New Jersey.
  • jpbranjpbran Member Posts: 37
dlm820: Just curious... why did you HAVE to spend 10% of the MSRP for an extended warranty, on a car with such an amazing standard warranty?
  • dlm820dlm820 Member Posts: 31
I think I got rooked on this one, but I was only approved for $29K and in order to complete the sale I needed to have another $3K, or so they said. It was either give them $3K in cash, which I didn't have, or get the 10 yr/100,000 mile Advantage Plus Protection Plan.

Like I said, I think I got rooked, but I was already 3/4 of the way done and there wasn't really any backing out.

    Live and learn I guess.

    MSRP: $33,345 "Invoice"(per Edmunds): $30,653 Offer: $29,696

    Is this a good deal?

  • dlm820dlm820 Member Posts: 31
I got that package myself, but only because I needed the third row and it was the only one around in my area. If you don't need all the extra stuff I would say go for just the base model of the Limited.

That is a good price though for that package. Seems a little low though, as most dealers haven't gone that much under Invoice as far as the quotes that I got. I paid $30,800 for mine, before TTL and other junk.

    Good luck with your negotiating.

I bought a 2007 Limited, Deepwater Blue with the gray interior from Antwerpen Hyundai in Baltimore (Catonsville) Md. I found the dealer by searching the net and wanted a particular color and options package. We agreed on a price, the dealer did not have the exact Santa Fe I wanted but they found one for me in 3 or 4 days. The dealership sold the Santa Fe for $300 under invoice, plus I had a loyalty rebate of $500 so in effect paid $800 under invoice.

I was in and out in less than 2 hours, no strange fees, no attempt to sell any other dealer add ons.

One of the best car purchases I have ever made.

It is a little early after the buy to make a completely objective assessment but so far the Santa Fe is great, I really like everything about it and think Hyundai did a fantastic job. I researched the BMW SUV, Toyota Highlander and the Honda Pilot as other options, but really think that this is a great product and the price plus warranty push it way out front of the others.

It appears that this would be a sale for a 2006. I think they are really trying to deal on last years models as the 2007s are getting top the show room.

You should be able to finance with whomever you like. You will have to produce some form of proof that you currently own a hyundai to get the owner loyalty rebate and probably the same with the other rebates as well.

I went to my local Hyundai dealer and want a Santa Fe GLS 7 pass. This is the top of the line edition in Canada which has all features for $35,995 CND MSRP (For my offer I went at $33,000 CND, expecting a counter offer). I pushed about the MSRP which caused the General Manager to come and talk with me who kindly asked that I leave if I wasn't going to be reasonable with my pricing...

They then called me about 30 mins after I left. When I went in to bargain they flat out refused to move from the MSRP still but would go below cost on accessories. I had select about $2,200 CND in accessories which was given at $1,000 CND.

Also I have a trade in (a 2000 Civic SiR in perfect condition which they've offered $11,000, which is common I had it appraised by other dealers at that price).

Does this seem at all reasonable to not move on the MSRP? I didn't present the trade till long after we talked about the Santa Fe price. Also, for the asking to leave still surprizes me for a lack of customer service.

I have been looking for a 2007 Santa Fe AWD Limited with 3rd row seat for a while now in the bay area, California without any luck. The one I bought has everything I want except it's 2WD instead of AWD. I bought the car at Doten Automotive Hyundai in Richmond's Auto Plaza. The fleet department there is having a "$1000 under invoice sale" this month (October). The price they gave me after the "discount" was actually Edmund's invoice ($28,813). After applying my $500 voucher that I got from a Hyundai rep at a festival, the final price came down to $28,313 + TTL. I have driven it for half a day now and is loving every minute of it.

    Here's the car's detail info

2007 Hyundai Santa Fe 2WD Limited with Touring and Ultimate Package.

Hi, where did you get the $500 coupon?
  • skyfayeskyfaye Member Posts: 4
I got the coupon at Chinese Moon Festival Celebration in Cupertino, CA. They were displaying their cars and I saw the Santa Fe. I told the Hyundai rep there that I'm very interested in the car and she gave me a $500 voucher good for the 2007 Santa Fe and one other car. The voucher was good for October 2007 only. I think if you go any events where there are Hyundai rep displaying their cars, they would give away these vouchers. They just ask you for your driver's license info and phone number. This is a manufacturing voucher so you give it to the dealer after you finished negotiating the price and then the dealer will subtract it from the negotiated price. What my dealer did was treat it as a Hyundai rebate.

Here's one offer I just got from a dealer for an AWD Limited, with sunroof.
Stickers around 29.5k Taxes/License OTD price... $30k. Am I a fool to think I can get WAY better?!?

Also, unfortunately, my slate blue/beige interior trim wont be out for another 6-8weeks. Or so the fleet manager says to me (think he may be blowin' smoke). Also wanted a 4 day retainer to get the car from his 'buddy' at another dealership who trades wit no one else. All smells a bit fishy to me....
  • lulu585lulu585 Member Posts: 23
I think you can get a better price. Look at ebay---there is a brand new 2007 Santa Fe Limited with touring pkg (3nd row) in the low $25's. I would consider this one but I don't like the color at all--beige. I printed that out as a tool to use on my local dealer. I hoping to get in one by December (a lot of crossovers coming out in November--hopefully the Hyundai dealerships will be slow)---they have 3 limiteds with 3nd row that have been sitting at their lot for over 2 mos!!! Hope that goes my way! Good luck!
  • sirvagabondsirvagabond Member Posts: 51
Yeah thats a good point. I wouldn't be at all suprised that in December, dealerships wilk be more hard up for sales and offer better deals than now. But truthfully, I can't wait till then. My current auto is barely hanging on, like the Italian Stallion at the end of Rocky II.

Thats a pretty clever gimmick, the Ebay printout, too. Never thought of that. Although, I cant imagine a lot of dealers biting on that, in that it's a private party sell. But who knows.

My dealer is currently looking for my colors accross the country, none to be found....yet. But Im looking to get OTD for around 28k. I would consider that a good deal.

Thanks, and good luck to you too.

I am in sacramento and I am looking for a 3rd seat Santa Fe limited with a sunroof The dealer can't find one in calif but they will get me one without a sunroof and put one in for me. The dealer in Roseville would not give me a good deal on my trade in so I walked. I think 28000 is a fair deal for the car but we are haggling over the trade in. The 3rd seats limited are hard to come by. Any ideas out there. I heard someone had a coupon for 500 is there any way to get one of those. I bought an Azera in June so I( think that gets me a current owner. I will wait till I make the deal before I bring that up to them.

After 2 months of website research and numerous phone calls...but, it was worth the effort.

    2007 Limited
    Powder White Pearl w/Blk Leather
loaded w/both Ultimate and Touring pkgs.
    sticker-$31,660
    invoice-$29,084
    paid- $28,100 + TTL

    20.4mpg first tankful...avg 22.6 on second tank..all mixed hwy/city.

local dealer wanted $500 over invoice, didn't have color combo I wanted anyway(this proved hard to find--plenty of gray or beige interiors, but very few black)
I was told by every dealer along the Gulf Coast that I could not order what I wanted from the Factory at this time.
Had to drive 100 miles(to Houston) to pick it up...was not looking for ultimate pkg., but very happy with it.
Grandkids love the DVD player & 3rd row seats.
Infinity sound system is awesome and the black interior is actually a very nice Charcoal color.
Nearly 600 miles on it and I love everything about the Santa Fe...hope I can say the same a year or two or three from now.

Wow! You did get a great deal, especially with the Ultimate PKG. They have a few Santa Fe's with the touring here (in New Mexico) but none with the Ultimate Pkg. I like the color combo--haven't seen any with the charcoal interior. Still waiting a few weeks after some of the crossover's have been released to make an offer on the Santa Fe! Was yours AWD?

    Thanks!
